[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ once set out and I accompanied him until we entered the synagogue of the Jews in the city on one of their holidays. They disliked our entering upon them, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, "O people of the Jews, show me twelve men who bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and Allah will remove His anger from every Jew beneath the sky." They remained silent and none of them answered him. He repeated his request three times, but still none of them gave an answer. Then he said, "You refused. I swear by Allah that I am the Prophet who will lead them to gather and I am the last of them, and I am the chosen Messenger of Allah. Have you believed or denied?" He then turned away and I followed him until we were about to leave, when a man from behind called out, "O Muhammad, come here." He turned and the man said, "Who amongst you knows me, O people of the Jews?" They said, "By Allah, we do not know anyone amongst us who is more knowledgeable about the Book of Allah than you, nor anyone who has a better understanding than you, or anyone who has more knowledge of it than your father or your grandfather." He said, "I bear witness that he is the Prophet of Allah whom you will find mentioned in the Torah." They said, "You are lying." They then rejected what he said and accused him of evil. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You have lied. Your words will not be accepted. In the past, you used to praise and commend him, but now that he has believed in Allah, you accuse him of lying. Your words will not be accepted." We then left, and there were three of us: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , Abdullah ibn Salam, and I. Allah revealed about this incident: "Say, 'Have you considered: if the Qur'an was from Allah, and you disbelieved in it while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something similar and believed while you were arrogant...?' Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people." (Surah Al-Ahqaf, 46:10)  

انْطَلَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَوْمًا وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى دَخَلْنَا كَنِيسَةَ الْيَهُودِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ يَوْمَ عِيدٍ لَهُمْ فَكَرِهُوا دُخُولَنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ أَرُونِي اثْنَيْ عَشَرَرَجُلًا يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ يُحْبِطِ اللهُ عَنْ كُلِّ يَهُودِيٍّ تَحْتَ أَدِيمِ السَّمَاءِ الْغَضَبَ الَّذِي غَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَأَسْكَتُوا مَا أَجَابَهُ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ ثَلَّثَ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ أَبَيْتُمْ فَوَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَنَا الْحَاشِرُ وَأَنَا الْعَاقِبُ وَأَنَا النَّبِيُّ الْمُصْطَفَى آمَنْتُمْ أَوْ كَذَّبْتُمْ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا كِدْنَا أَنْ نَخْرُجَ نَادَى رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَلْفِنَا كَمَا أَنْتَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قَالَ فَأَقْبَلَ فَقَالَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ أَيَّ رَجُلٍ تَعْلَمُونَي فِيكُمْ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ؟ قَالُوا وَاللهِ مَا نَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِينَا رَجُلٌ أَعْلَمُ بِكِتَابِ اللهِ مِنْكَ وَلَا أَفْقَهُ مِنْكَ وَلَا مِنْ أَبِيكَ قَبْلَكَ وَلَا مِنْ جَدِّكَ قَبْلَ أَبِيكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَشْهَدُ لَهُ بِاللهِ أَنَّهُ نَبِيُّ اللهِ الَّذِي تَجِدُونَهُ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ قَالُوا كَذَبْتَ ثُمَّ رَدُّوا عَلَيْهِ قَوْلَهُ وَقَالُوا فِيهِ شَرًّا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَذَبْتُمْ لَنْ يُقْبَلَ قَوْلُكُمْ أَمَّا آنِفًا فَتُثْنُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا أَثْنَيْتُمْ وَلَمَّا آمَنَ أَكْذَبْتُمُوهُ وَقُلْتُمْ فِيهِ مَا قُلْتُمْ فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ قَوْلُكُمْ قَالَ فَخَرَجْنَا وَنَحْنُ ثَلَاثَةٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ وَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ فِيهِ {قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ وَكَفَرْتُمْ بِهِ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَلَى مِثْلِهِ فَآمَنَ وَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ} [الأحقاف 10]  

[Machine] The Prophet (pbuh) and I entered a Jewish synagogue. He said, "O people of Jews, show me twelve men who bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and Allah will remove the anger from any Jew that they are beneath the sky." None of them responded to him, so he said, "Have you denied? By Allah, I am the last, the final, and the chosen Prophet. Have you believed in me, or have you rejected me?" Then we left, and as we were about to exit, a man from behind us said, "O Muhammad, just as you are, how do I know you, O people of Jews?" They replied, "By Allah, we do not know of anyone among us who is more knowledgeable of the Book of Allah than you, nor do we know of anyone who understands it better than you, your father before you, or your grandfather before your father." He said, "Indeed, I bear witness for him with Allah that he is the Prophet of Allah whom you find mentioned in the Torah." They said, "You have lied!" Then they accused him of evil. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "You have lied, and your word will not be accepted. If you praise him when he deserves it, and then deny him when he believes, your word will not be accepted." Then we left, and there were three of us; the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), Abdullah ibn Salam, and myself. Allah revealed in reference to this incident, "Say, 'Have you considered: if it is from Allah and you disbelieved in it?" [Surah Al-Ahqaf: 10]. This hadith is recorded in the collections of Al-Bukhari and Muslim, based on the conditions of both scholars, and they did not exclude it. It is agreed upon that it is a summarized narration from Anas, and Abdullah ibn Salam was mentioned briefly.  

انْطَلَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى دَخَلْنَا كَنِيسَةَ الْيَهُودِ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ أَرُونِي اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ رَجُلًا يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَحُطُّ اللَّهُ عَنْ كُلِّ يَهُودِيٍّ تَحْتَ أَدِيمِ السَّمَاءِ الْغَضَبَ الَّذِي غَضِبَ عَلَيْهِمْ» قَالَ فَأُسْكِتُوا مَا أَجَابَهُ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ «أَبَيْتُمْ فَوَاللَّهِ لَأَنَا الْحَاشِرُ وَأَنَا الْعَاقِبُ وَأَنَا النَّبِيُّ الْمُصْطَفَى آمَنْتُمْ أَوْ كَذَبْتُمْ» ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى كِدْنَا أَنْ نَخْرُجَ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَلْفِنَا يَقُولُ كَمَا أَنْتَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَقَالَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ أَيُّ رَجُلٍ تَعْلِمُونِي فِيكُمْ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ؟ قَالُوا وَاللَّهِ مَا نَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِينَا رَجُلٌ أَعْلَمُ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ مِنْكَ وَلَا أَفْقَهُ مِنْكَ وَلَا مِنْ أَبِيكَ قَبْلَكَ وَلَا مِنْ جَدِّكَ قَبْلَ أَبِيكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَشْهَدُ لَهُ بِاللَّهِ أَنَّهُ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ الَّذِي تَجِدُونَهُ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ فَقَالُوا كَذَبْتَ ثُمَّ رَدُّوا عَلَيْهِ قَوْلَهُ وَقَالُوا فِيهِ شَرًّا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَذَبْتُمْ لَنْ يُقْبَلَ قَوْلُكُمْ أَمَّا آنِفًا فَتُثْنُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا أَثْنَيْتُمْ وَأَمَّا إِذَا آمَنَ فَكَذَّبْتُمُوهُ وَقُلْتُمْ فِيهِ مَا قُلْتُمْ فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ قَوْلُكُمْ» قَالَ فَخَرَجْنَا وَنَحْنُ ثَلَاثَةٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ وَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فِيهِ {قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ وَكَفَرْتُمْ بِهِ} [الأحقاف 10] الْآيَةَ «صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ إِنَّمَا اتَّفَقَا عَلَى حَدِيثِ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَيُّ رَجُلٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ فِيكُمْ مُخْتَصَرًا» على شرط البخاري ومسلم  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ divided the booty that Allah had bestowed upon him from the spoils of Hunayn among the people of Makkah, from the Quraysh and others. This angered the Ansar, so when the Prophet ﷺ heard about it, he came to them in their homes and said, "Whoever is not from the Ansar, let him leave to his caravan." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made the declaration of faith and praised Allah, then he said, "O people of the Ansar, I have been informed about your conversation regarding these spoils that I have given to certain people to strengthen their faith and become witnesses for Islam. Allah has instilled Islam in their hearts." Then he said, "O people of the Ansar, has not Allah bestowed upon you His guidance and honored you with nobility? He has given you the best of names, Ansar Allah (the helpers of Allah) and Ansar Rasulullah (the helpers of the Messenger of Allah). If it were not for the migration, I would have been one of the Ansar. If the people take a valley, and you take a valley, would you not be satisfied that the people take the sheep, camels, and cattle, while you take the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" When the Ansar heard the words of the Prophet ﷺ, they said, "We are satisfied." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Answer me regarding what I have said." The Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, when we were in darkness, Allah brought us to light through you. When we were on the brink of the Fire, Allah saved us through you. When we were astray, Allah guided us through you. So we are pleased with Allah as our Lord, Islam as our religion, and Muhammad as our Prophet. Do as you wish, O Messenger of Allah, in the widest scope." The Prophet ﷺ said, "By Allah, if you had responded to me with anything other than what you have said, I would have said you spoke the truth. Did we not shelter you when you were a fugitive? Did we not believe in you when others denied you? Did we not support you when others abandoned you? And did we not accept what no one else accepted? If you had said this, you would have spoken the truth." The Ansar said, "Rather, to Allah and His Messenger belongs the favor and the generosity, on us and on others." Then they wept, and the Prophet ﷺ wept with them, and he was pleased with them, for what he said to them caused them the greatest joy and was more beloved to them than any material wealth.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَسَّمَ الْفَيْءَ الَّذِي أَفَاءَ اللهُ بِحُنَيْنٍ مِنْ غَنَائِمِ هَوَازِنَ فَأَفْشَى الْقَسْمَ فِي أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ وَغَيْرِهِمْ فَغَضِبَ الْأَنْصَارُ فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَتَاهُمْ فِي مَنَازِلِهِمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ هَهُنَا لَيْسَ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَلْيَخْرُجْ إِلَى رَحْلِهِ» ثُمَّ تَشَهَّدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَحَمِدَ اللهَ ﷻ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَدْ بَلَغَنِي مِنْ حَدِيثِكُمْ فِي هَذِهِ الْمَغَانِمِ الَّتِي آثَرْتُ بِهَا أُنَاسًا أَتَأَلَّفُهُمْ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ لَعَلَّهُمْ أَنْ يَشْهَدُوا بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ وَقَدْ أَدْخَلَ اللهُ قُلُوبَهُمُ الْإِسْلَامَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَلَمْ يَمُنَّ اللهُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْإِيمَانِ وَخَصَّكُمْ بِالْكَرَامَةِ وَسَمَّاكُمْ بِأَحْسَنِ الْأَسْمَاءِ أَنْصَارَ اللهِ وَأَنْصَارَ رَسُولِهِ؟ وَلَوْلَا الْهِجْرَةُ لَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَلَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَكْتُمْ وَادِيًا لَسَلَكْتُ وَادِيَكُمْ أَفَلَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِهَذِهِ الْغَنَائِمِ الشَّاةِ وَالنِّعَمِ وَالْبَعِيرِ وَتَذْهَبُونَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ قَوْلَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالُوا رَضِينَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَجِيبُونِي فِيمَا قُلْتُ؟» فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَجَدْتَنَا فِي ظُلْمَةٍ فَأَخْرَجَنَا اللهُ بِكَ إِلَى النُّورِ وَوَجَدْتَنَا عَلَى شَفَا حُفْرَةٍ مِنَ النَّارِ فَأَنْقَذَنَا اللهُ بِكَ وَوَجَدْتَنَا ضُلَّالًا فَهَدَانَا اللهُ بِكَ فَرَضِينَا بِاللهِ رَبًّا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيًّا فَاصْنَعْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا شِئْتَ فِي أَوْسَعِ الْحِلِّ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَمَا وَاللهِ لَوْ أَجَبْتُمُونِي بِغَيْرِ هَذَا الْقَوْلِ لَقُلْتُ صَدَقْتُمْ لَوْ قُلْتُمْ أَلَمْ تَأْتِنَا طَرِيدًا فَآوَيْنَاكَ وَمُكَذَّبًا فَصَدَّقْنَاكَ وَمَخْذُولًا فَنَصَرْنَاكَ وَقَبِلْنَا مَا رَدَّ النَّاسُ عَلَيْكَ؟ لَوْ قُلْتُمْ هَذَا لَصَدَقْتُمْ فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ بَلْ للَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ الْمَنُّ وَالْفَضْلُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى غَيْرِنَا ثُمَّ بَكَوْا فَكَثُرَ بُكَاؤُهُمْ فَبَكَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَعَهُمْ وَرَضِيَ عَنْهُمْ فَكَانُوا بِالَّذِي قَالَ لَهُمْ أَشَدَّ اغْتِبَاطًا وَأَفْضَلَ عِنْدَهُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ مَالٍ

They remained silent and none of them answered. Then he repeated his request three times, but no one answered him. He said, "Have you repudiated? By Allah, I am the Caller; I am the Seal and I am the Embosser. Have you believed or denied?" Then he left and I was with him until we almost reached the exit, when a man called from behind him, saying, "As you are, O Muhammad." So he turned and said, "Who is that man? O Jews, do you know him among you?" They said, "By Allah, we do not know anyone among us who is more knowledgeable than you in the Book of Allah, or more understanding than you, or more knowledgeable than your father before you, or more knowledgeable than your grandfather before your father." He said, "Then I testify for him by Allah, that he is the Prophet of Allah whom you find in the Torah." They said, "You have lied." Then they refuted him and said evil things about him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You have lied, we will not accept your statement." Then we left, and it was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , Ibn Salam, and I. And Allah revealed, (Say: 'Have you considered: if it is from Allah and you disbelieve in it, and a witness from the Children of Israel testifies to its similarity and has believed, while you are arrogant...') انْطَلَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَوْمًا وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى دَخَلْنَا كَنِيسَةَ الْيَهُودِ يَوْمَ عِيدِهِمْ فَكَرِهُوا دُخُولَهُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ أَرُونِيَ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ رَجُلًا مِنْكُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ يَحُطُّ اللهُ عَنْ كُلِّ يَهُودِيِّ تَحْتَ أَدِيمِ السَّمَاءِ الْغَضَبَ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ» فَأَسْكَتُوا مَا أَجَابَهُ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ ثَلَّثَ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ «أَبَيْتُمْ فَوَاللهِ لَأَنَا الْحَاشِرُ وَأَنَا الْعَاقِبُ وَأَنَا الْمُقَفِّي آمَنْتُمْ أَوْ كَذَّبْتُمْ» ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى أَنَّنَا كِدْنَا أَنْ نَخْرُجَ نَادَى رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ فَقَالَ كَمَا أَنْتَ يَا مُحَمَّدٌ فَأَقْبَلَ فَقَالَ ذَاكَ الرَّجُلُ أَيُّ رَجُلٍ تَعْلَمُونَ فِيكُمْ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ؟ قَالُوا وَاللهِ مَا نَعْلَمُ فِينَا رَجُلًا كَانَ أَعْلَمُ بِكِتَابِ اللهِ وَلَا أَفْقَهُ مِنْكَ وَلَا مِنْ أَبِيكَ قَبْلَكَ وَلَا مِنْ جَدِّكَ قَبْلَ أَبِيكَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَشْهَدُ لَهُ بِاللهِ أَنَّهُ نَبِيُّ اللهِ الَّذِي تَجِدُونَ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ قَالُوا كَذَبْتَ ثُمَّ رُدُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَقَالُوا فِيهِ شَرًّا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «كَذَبْتُمْ لَنْ نَقْبَلَ قَوْلَكُمْ» قَالَ فَخَرَجْنَا وَنَحْنُ ثَلَاثَةٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا وَابْنُ سَلَامٍ وَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ وَكَفَرْتُمْ بِهِ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَلَى مِثْلِهِ فَآمَنَ وَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ}  

"عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: انْطَلَقَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ يَوْمًا وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى دَخَلْنَا كَنِيسَةَ الْيَهُودِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ يَوْمَ عِيدٍ، فَكَرِهُوا دخُولَنَا عَلَيْهِمْ، فَقَالَ لَهُمُ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ : يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ: أَرُونِى اثْنَىْ عَشَرَ رَجُلًا مِنْكُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ أَن لَا إِلِهَ إِلَّا الله، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ الله يَحُطُّ الله عَنْ كُلِّ يَهُودِىٍّ تَحْتَ أَدِيمِ السَّمَاءِ الْغَضَبَ الَّذِى غَضِبَهُ عَلَيْهِ، فَأَمْسَكُوا مَا

أَجَابَهُ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ، ثُمَّ ثَلَّثَ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ، فَقَالَ: أَبَيْتُمْ: فَوَالله إِنِّى لأَنَا الْحَاشِرُ الْعَاقِبُ، وَأَنَا الْمُقَضىِّ النَّبِىُّ الْمُصْطَفى آمَنْتُمْ أَوْ كَذَّبْتُمْ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى كِدْنَا أَنْ نَخْرُجَ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَلْفِنَا فَقَالَ: كَمَا أَنْتَ مُحَمَّدُ، فَقَالَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ: أَىُّ رَجُلٍ تَعْلَمُونِى يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ قَالُوا: وَالله مَا نَعْلَمُ فِينَا رَجُلًا أَعْلَمَ بِكِتَابِ الله وَلَا الله مِنْكَ، وَلَا مِنْ أَبِيكَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ، وَلَا مِنْ جَدِّكَ قَبْلَ أَبِيكَ، قَالَ: فَإِنِّى أَشْهَدُ لَهُ بِالله أَنَّهُ نَبِىُّ الله الَّذِى تَجِدُونَهُ فِى التَّوْرَاةِ، قَالُوا لَهُ: كَذَبْتَ ثُمَّ رَدُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَقَالُوا فِيهِ شَرّا، قَالَ رسَولُ الله ﷺ كَذَبْتُمْ فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ قَوْلُكُمْ أَمَّا آنِفًا فَتُثْنُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ مَا أَثْنَيْتُمْ، وَأَمَّا إِذَا آمَنَ كَذَّبْتُمُوهُ وَقُلْتُمْ فِيهِ مَا قُلْتُمْ فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ قَوْلُكُمْ، فَخَرَجْنَا وَنَحْنُ ثَلَاثَةٌ: رَسُولُ الله ﷺ وَأَنَا وَعَبْدُ الله بْنُ سَلَامٍ، فَأُنْزِلَ فِيهِ {قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ وَكَفَرْتُمْ بِهِ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ} ".
