"We heard Abu Umamah Al-Bahili say: 'I heard 'Amrah bin 'Abasah say: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is there any moment which brings one close to Allah than another, or any moment that should be sought out for remembering Allah? He said: 'Yes, the closest that the Lord is to His slave is in the last part of the night, so if you can be among those who remember Allah at that time, then do so. For prayer is attended and witnessed (by the angels) until the sun rises, then it rises between the two horns of the Shaitan, that is the time when the disbelievers pray, so do not pray until the sun had risen to the height of a spear and its rays have disappeared. Then prayer is attended and witness (by the angels) until the sun is directly overhead at midday, and that is the time when the gates of Hell are opened and it is stoked up. So do not pray until the shadows appear. Then prayer is attended and witnessed (by angels) until the sun sets, and it sets between the horns of a Shaitan, and that is the time when the disbelievers pray.'"

“Safwan bin Mu’attal asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I want to ask you about something of which you have knowledge and I know nothing.’ He said: ‘What is it?’ He said: ‘Is there any time of the night or day when it is disliked to perform prayer? He said: ‘Yes, when you have prayed the Subh, then do not pray until the sun has risen, for it rises between the two horns of Satan. [AI] He asked the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Prophet of Allah, I ask you about something that you know of and I am ignorant of, a specific time during the day when prayer is disliked." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you pray Fajr, refrain from praying until the sun rises. When it rises, then pray. For indeed, prayer during that time is forbidden and accepted until it reaches the height of a spear. Once it reaches the height of a spear, then indeed Hellfire is opened and its gates are opened until it moves away from your right eyebrow. Once it moves away from your right eyebrow, then pray. For indeed, prayer during that time is forbidden and accepted until you perform Asr prayer."

[AI] A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, are there any specific times during the day and night when I should not pray?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "If you pray Fajr (before sunrise), then shorten your prayers until the sun has risen, for it rises between the horns of Satan. After that, the prayer is witnessed but prohibited until midday. When midday has passed, shorten your prayers until the sun starts to decline, for at that time Hellfire is kindled and its heat intensifies. When the sun has set, the prayer is witnessed but prohibited until you have performed Asr prayer. Once you have performed Asr prayer, shorten your prayers until the sun has set between the horns of Satan. After that, the prayer is witnessed but prohibited until you have performed Fajr prayer again."

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ سَاعَاتِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سَاعَةٌ تَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ لَا أُصَلِّيَ فِيهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَقْصِرْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى تَرْتَفِعَ الشَّمْسُ فَإِنَّهَا تَطْلُعُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيِ الشَّيْطَانِ ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَحْضُورَةٌ مُتَقَبَّلَةٌ حَتَّى يَنْتَصِفَ النَّهَارُ فَإِذَا انْتَصَفَ النَّهَارُ فَأَقْصِرْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى تَمِيلَ الشَّمْسُ فَإِنَّ حِينَئِذٍ تُسَعَّرُ جَهَنَّمُ وَشِدَّةُ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ فَإِذَا زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَالصَّلَاةُ مَحْضُورَةٌ مَشْهُودَةٌ مُتَقَبَّلَةٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الْعَصْرَ فَإِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الْعَصْرَ فَأَقْصِرْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى تَغِيبَ الشَّمْسُ فَإِنَّهَا تَغِيبُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيِ الشَّيْطَانِ ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَحْضُورَةٌ مُتَقَبَّلَةٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الصُّبْحَ»

[AI] A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, are there any times during the day and night when it is forbidden for me to pray?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you pray Fajr (dawn prayer), then shorten your prayer until the sun has risen; for it rises between the horns of Satan. Then the prayer is forbidden, but acceptable, until midday. When midday comes, then shorten your prayer until the sun starts to decline; for at that time it is as if Hell is kindled and the intensity of the heat is from a breath of Hell. When the sun sets, then the prayer is seen but forbidden, until you pray Asr (afternoon prayer). When you pray Asr, then shorten your prayer until the sun sets; then the prayer is seen but forbidden, until you pray Fajr."

"إذَا صلَّيتَ الصُّبْحَ فأمْسك عنِ الصلاةِ حتَّى تْطلعَ الشَّمْسُ، فإنَّها تطْلعُ بين قرنى الشيطانِ، فإذا طلعتْ فصلِّ فإِنَّ الصَّلاة محضورةٌ مُتقبَّلةٌ حتَّى تعتَدل عَلى رأسِكَ مثل الرُّمح، فإِذَا اعْتدلتْ على رأسِك مثْلَ الرُّمح فأمْسكْ، فإنَّ تلكَ السَّاعةَ (التي) تُسْجَرُ فيها جهنَّم، وتُفتحُ فيها أبْوابُها حتَّى ترتفعَ الشمسُ على حاجبك الأيمن، فإِذا

زالتْ عَنْ حاجبك الأيمنِ، فصلِّ فإنَّ الصَّلاةَ محْضُورةٌ متقبلة حتَّى تُصلى العصْر، ثُمَّ دعْ الصَّلاةَ حتَّى تغيبَ الشَّمسُ".

"عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ الأسْوَدِ، ثَنَا الضَحَّاكُ بْنُ عثمَانَ، عَنِ المَقْبُرِىِّ، عَنْ صَفْوانَ بْنِ المُعَطَلِ أنَّهُ سَألَ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَقالَ: يَا نَبِىَّ الله إِنِّى أسْألُكَ عَمَّا أنْتَ بِه عَالِمٌ وَانَا بِهِ جَاهل، هَلْ مِنَ الليْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سَاعَة تُكْرَهُ فِيها الصَّلاَةُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ "إِذَا صَلَّتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأمْسِكْ عِنِ الصَّلاَةِ حَتى تطلُعَ الشَّمْسُ، فَإِذَا طَلَعَتْ فَصَلِّ، فَإِنَّ الصَّلاَةَ مَحْضُورَة ومُتَقَبَّلَة () حَتَّى تَعْتَدِلَ عَلَى رَأسِكَ مِثْلَ الرّمْح، فَإِذَا اعْتَدَلَتَ عَلَى رَأسِكَ مِثْلَ الرُّمْح فَأمْسِكْ فَإِنَّ تِيكَ السَّاعَةَ تُسْجَرُ فِيهَا جَهَنَمُ وَتُفْتَحُ أبْوَابُها حَتَّى تَزُولَ عَنْ حَاجِبكَ الأيْمَنِ، فَإِذَا زَالَتْ عَنْ حَاجِبِكَ الأيْمَنِ فَصَلِّ، فَإِنَّ الصَّلاَةَ مَحْضُورَة ومُتَقَبَّلَة ( *) حَتَّى تُصَلِّىَ العَصْرَ".

"عَنْ ابنِ أَبِى فُدَيْكٍ، حَدثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ المقبرىِّ، عَنْ ابِى هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: جَاءَ صَفْوان بن المُعطَّلِ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنِّى أَسْألُكَ عَنْ أَمْرٍ أَنْتَ بِهِ عَالِمٌ، وَأَنَا بِهِ جَاهِلٌ، قَالَ: وَمَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ من ساعات اللَّيْلِ والَنَّهَارِ سَاعَةٌ تكره فيهَا الصَّلَاةُ قَالَ: نَعَمْ إذَا صَلَّيْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَدعِ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ، فَإِنَّهَا تَطلُعُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَى

الشَّيْطَانِ، ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ مَحْضُورة مُتَقَبَّلة حَتَّى تَسْتَوِىَ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى رَأسِكَ قَيد رمحٍ، فَإذَا كَانَتْ عَلَى رَأسِكَ فَدَع الصَّلَاةَ، فَإنَّ تِلْكَ السَّاعَةَ الَّتى تُسجَّرُ فِيهَا جَهَنَّمُ، وَتُفْتَحُ فِيهَا أَبْوَابُهَا حَتَى تَرْتَفِعَ الشَّمْسُ عَنْ حَاجِبكَ الأَيْمَنِ، فَإذَا زَالَتْ فَصَل فَإنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَحْضُورَةٌ مُتَقَبّلةٌ حَتَى تُصَلِّىَ العَصْرَ، ثُمَّ ذَكَر الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ".

"عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيَرة قَالَ: سَأَلَ صَفْوَان بن الْمُعطَّل رَسُولَ الله ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا نَبِىَّ الله إِنَى أَسْأَلكَ هَلْ مِنْ سَاعَةٍ مِنْ سَاعَات اللَّيْل وِالنَّهَار تُكْرَهُ فِيهَا الصَّلَاة؟

قَالَ: نَعَمْ: إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الصُّبْح تَدعَ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى تَطلُع الشَّمْس، فَإِنَّهَا تَطلعُ بَقَرنَى شَيْطَانٍ، ثُمَّ صَلِّ فَإن الصَّلاة مَحْضُورَةٌ مُتَقَبَّلة حَتَّى تَسْتَوى الشَّمْس عَلَى رَأسِكَ كَالرُّمْح، فإن (*) ما كَانَت عَلَى رَأسِكَ كَالرمْح فَدعَ الصَّلَاة، فَإنَّ تِلكَ السَّاعَة الَّتِى تُسجرُ فِيهَا جَهَنَّم، وَتُفتح فِيهَا أبْوَابُهَا حَتَّى تَرتَفِعَ الشَّمس عَلَى حَاجِبكَ الأيْمَن، فَإِذَا زَالَتْ فَصلِّ، فَإِنَ الصَّلَاة مَحْضُورَةٌ مَتَقَبَّلَة حَتَّى تُصَلِّى الْعَصْر، ثُمَّ دَعِ الصَّلَاة حَتَّى تَغِيبَ الشَّمْس".
