"We heard Abu Umamah Al-Bahili say: 'I heard 'Amrah bin 'Abasah say: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is there any moment which brings one close to Allah than another, or any moment that should be sought out for remembering Allah? He said: 'Yes, the closest that the Lord is to His slave is in the last part of the night, so if you can be among those who remember Allah at that time, then do so. For prayer is attended and witnessed (by the angels) until the sun rises, then it rises between the two horns of the Shaitan, that is the time when the disbelievers pray, so do not pray until the sun had risen to the height of a spear and its rays have disappeared. Then prayer is attended and witness (by the angels) until the sun is directly overhead at midday, and that is the time when the gates of Hell are opened and it is stoked up. So do not pray until the shadows appear. Then prayer is attended and witnessed (by angels) until the sun sets, and it sets between the horns of a Shaitan, and that is the time when the disbelievers pray.'" سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَبَسَةَ يَقُولُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ مِنْ سَاعَةٍ أَقْرَبَ مِنَ الْأُخْرَى أَوْ هَلْ سَاعَةٌ يُتَّقَى ذِكْرُهَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِنَّ أَقْرَبَ مَا يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ مِنَ الرَّبِّ جَوْفَ اللَّيْلِ الْآخِرِ فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِمَنْ يذْكُرُ اللهَ فِي تِلْكَ السَّاعَةِ فَكُنْ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَحْضُورَةٌ إِلَى طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ فَإِنَّهَا تَطْلُعُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ وَهِيَ سَاعَةُ صَلَاةِ الْكُفَّارِ فَدَعِ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى تَرْتَفِعَ قِيدَ رُمْحٍ وَيَذْهَبَ شُعَاعُهَا ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ مَحْضُورَةٌ مَشْهُودَةٌ حَتَّى تَعْتَدِلَ الشَّمْسُ اعْتِدَالَ الرُّمْحِ بِنِصْفِ النَّهَارِ فَإِنَّهَا سَاعَةٌ تُفْتَحُ أَبْوَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَتُسْجَرُ فَدَعِ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى يَفِيءَ الْفَيْءُ ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ مَحْضُورَةٌ مَشْهُودَةٌ حَتَّى تَغِيبَ الشَّمْسُ فَإِنَّهَا تَغِيبُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ الشَّيْطَانِ وَهِيَ سَاعَةُ صَلَاةِ الْكُفَّارِ»  

“Safwan bin Mu’attal asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I want to ask you about something of which you have knowledge and I know nothing.’ He said: ‘What is it?’ He said: ‘Is there any time of the night or day when it is disliked to perform prayer? He said: ‘Yes, when you have prayed the Subh, then do not pray until the sun has risen, for it rises between the two horns of Satan. Then pray, for the prayer is attended (by the angels) and is acceptable (to Allah) until the sun is right overhead like a spear. For at that time Hell is heated up and its gates are opened. (Then refrain from prayer) until the sun passes the zenith. Then when it has passed the zenith, the prayer is attended (by the angels) and is acceptable (to Allah) until you pray the ‘Asr. Then stop praying until the sun has set.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1252)   

سَأَلَ صَفْوَانُ بْنُ الْمُعَطَّلِ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي سَائِلُكَ عَنْ أَمْرٍ أَنْتَ بِهِ عَالِمٌ وَأَنَا بِهِ جَاهِلٌ هَلْ مِنْ سَاعَاتِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سَاعَةٌ يُكْرَهُ الصَّلَاةُ فِيهَا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَدَعِ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ؛ فَإِنَّهَا تَطْلُعُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ مَحْضُورَةٌ مُتَقَبَّلَةٌ حَتَّى تَسْتَوِيَ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى رَأْسِكَ كَالرُّمْحِ فَإِذَا اسْتَوَتْ عَلَى رَأْسِكَ كَالرُّمْحِ فَدَعِ الصَّلَاةَ؛ فَإِنَّ تِلْكَ السَّاعَةَ تُسَجَّرُ فِيهَا جَهَنَّمُ وَتُفْتَحُ فِيهَا أَبْوَابُهَا حَتَّى تَرْتَفِعَ الشَّمْسُ عَنْ جَانِبِكَ الْأَيْمَنِ فَإِذَا زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَالصَّلَاةُ مَحْضُورَةٌ مُتَقَبَّلَةٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الْعَصْرَ ثُمَّ دَعِ الصَّلَاةَ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ وَرَوَاهُ عِيَاضُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْقُرَشِيُّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ بِنَحْوِهِ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُسَمِّ السَّائِلَ وَزَادَ فِي آخِرِهِ ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَحْضُورَةٌ مُتَقَبَّلَةٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الصُّبْحَ

"أقْرَبُ ما يكون الرَّبّ ﷻ مِن العبد جوفَ الليلِ الأخير، فإن استطعت أن تكونَ ممن يذكُر اللهَ في تلكَ الساعة فَكُنْ، فَإِنَّ الصَّلاةَ محضُورةُ مشْهودةٌ إلى طلوعُ الشَّمْسِ، فإِنَّها تطلُعُ بين قَرْنَى الشيطانِ، وهي ساعةُ صلاةِ الكُفَّارِ، فدع الصلاة حتى ترتفعَ قيدَ رُمْحٍ، ويذهب شُعاعُهَا ثم الصلاةُ محضورةٌ مشهودةٌ حتى تَعْتَدِلَ الشَّمْسُ اعتدال الرُّمْحِ نِصْفَ النهارِ، فإِنها ساعةُ تُفْتَحُ فيها أبوابُ جَهَنَّم، وتُسْجرُ ؛ فدع الصلاةَ حتى يفئَ الفَىْءِ ، ثم الصلاةُ محضورةٌ مشهودةٌ حتى تغيبَ الشمسَ، فإِنها تغيب بين قَرْنَى الشيطانِ، وهي صلاة الكفَّارِ".
