فقال من يحَدَّثنا؟ فهاجت الريح وَأنا في آخر القوم فقال عُمَر أيكم سمع مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ في الريح شيئا؟ فقلت أنا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يقول الريح من روح الله تأتي بالرحمة والعذاب فإذا رأيتموها فسلوا الله من خيرها وتعوذوا بالله من شرها ولاَ تسبوها فإنها مأمورة

It brings mercy or punishment. Do not denounce it but ask Allah, the exalted, for the good of it and seek the protection of Allah from its evil.”
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الرِّيحُ مِنْ رَوْحِ اللهِ تَأْتِي بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَالْعَذَابِ فَلاَ تَسُبُّوهَا وَلَكِنْ سَلُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ خَيْرِهَا وَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The wind comes from Allah's mercy. Salamah's version has: It is Allah's mercy; it (sometimes) brings blessing and (sometimes) brings punishment. So when you see it, do not revile it, but ask Allah for some of its good, and seek refuge in Allah from its evil.

"Do not curse the wind, for it is from the mercy of Allah, bringing Rahmah (i.e., rain and breezes), or destruction. But ask Allah for its goodness, and seek refuge with Allah from its evil."

[AI] They asked me about the wind, but I could not provide them with any information. Then, Omar asked me about it, so I made an effort and followed my camel until I caught up with him. I said, "O Amir al-Mu'minin, I was informed that you asked about the wind. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that the wind is from the spirit of Allah. It brings mercy and punishment. So, when you see it, do not curse it, but seek the goodness in it and seek refuge in Allah from its evil."
يُحَدِّثُنَا عَنِ الرِّيحِ؟ فَلَمْ يُرْجِعُوا إِلَيْهِ شَيْئًا فَبَلَغَنِي الَّذِي سَأَلَ عَنْهُ عُمَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَاسْتَحْثَثْتُ رَاحِلَتِي حَتَّى أَدْرَكْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أُخْبِرْتُ أَنَّكَ سَأَلْتَ عَنِ الرِّيحِ وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الرِّيحُ مِنْ رَوْحِ اللهِ تَأْتِي بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَتَأْتِي بِالْعَذَابِفَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهَا فَلَا تَسُبُّوهَا وَسَلُوا اللهَ خَيْرَهَا وَاسْتَعِيذُوا بِهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا
[AI] "Upon hearing this, I hastened my camel until I caught up with him. I said, 'O Commander of the Believers, I have heard that you inquired about the wind. I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The wind is from the breath of Allah, so do not curse it. Rather, ask Allah for its good and seek refuge in Him from its evil.'"

أَخَذَتِ النَّاسَ الرِّيحُ بِطَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ فَاشْتَدَّتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ مَا الرِّيحُ؟ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعُوا إِلَيْهِ شَيْئًا فَبَلَغَنِي الَّذِي سَأَلَ عَنْهُ فَاسْتَحْثَثْتُ رَاحِلَتِي حَتَّى أَدْرَكْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أُخْبِرْتُ أَنَّكَ سَأَلْتَ عَنِ الرِّيحِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الرِّيحُ مِنْ رَوْحِ اللهِ تَأْتِي بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَتَأْتِي بِالْعَذَابِ فَلَا تَسُبُّوهَا وَسَلُوا اللهَ مِنْ خَيْرِهَا وَعُوذُوا بِهِمِنْ شَرِّهَا
[AI] From him, Umar, I sought permission to embark on my journey until I reached him. Then I said, "O Commander of the Believers, I was informed that you asked about the wind. "لَا تَسُبُّوا الرِّيحَ، فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ رَوْحِ الله، تَأتِي بِالرِّحْمَةِ وَالْعَذَابِ، وَلَكِنْ سَلُوا الله مِنْ خَيرِهَا، وَتَعَوَّذُوا بِالله مِنْ شَرِّهَا".
