'The people will be gathered in three groups: A group who will be riding, well fed and well clothed; a group whom the angels will drag on their faces and whom the fire will drive; and a group who will be walking with difficulty. Allah will send a disease to kill all the riding beasts and none will remain, until a man would give a garden for a she-camel but he will not be able to have it.

أَنَّ النَّاسَ يُحْشَرُونَ ثَلاَثَةَ أَفْوَاجٍ فَوْجٌ رَاكِبِينَ طَاعِمِينَ كَاسِينَ وَفَوْجٌ تَسْحَبُهُمُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ وَتَحْشُرُهُمُ النَّارُ وَفَوْجٌ يَمْشُونَ وَيَسْعَوْنَ يُلْقِي اللَّهُ الآفَةَ عَلَى الظَّهْرِ فَلاَ يَبْقَى حَتَّى إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَتَكُونُ لَهُ الْحَدِيقَةُ يُعْطِيهَا بِذَاتِ الْقَتَبِ لاَ يَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهَا

[AI] "O sons of Ghifar, speak and do not differ, for the truthful who is confirmed has informed me that people will be gathered into three groups – a group riding and eating, and a group walking and exerting effort, and a group dragged by angels on their faces and they will be brought to the Fire. Then one of them will say: 'We recognize these two groups, but what is the situation of those who are walking and exerting effort?' It will be said: 'Allah strikes affliction on the back until there is no longer a back left.' Even a man may have the most delightful garden, so he offers it to the one at the edge with thorns, and he is unable to do anything about it."

يَا بَنِي غِفَارٍ قُولُوا وَلَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَإِنَّ الصَّادِقَ الْمَصْدُوقَ حَدَّثَنِي أَنَّ النَّاسَ يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَى ثَلَاثَةِ أَفْوَاجٍ فَوْجٌ رَاكِبِينَ طَاعِمِينَ كَاسِينَ وَفَوْجٌ يَمْشُونَ وَيَسْعَوْنَ وَفَوْجٌ تَسْحَبُهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ وَتَحْشُرُهُمْ إِلَى النَّارِ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ مِنْهُمْ هَذَانِ قَدْ عَرَفْنَاهُمَا فَمَا بَالُ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ وَيَسْعَوْنَ؟ قَالَ يُلْقِي اللهَ الْآفَةَ عَلَى الظَّهْرِ حَتَّى لَا يَبْقَى ظَهْرٌ حَتَّى إِنَّالرَّجُلَ لَيَكُونُ لَهُ الْحَدِيقَةُ الْمُعْجِبَةُ فَيُعْطِيهَا بِالشَّارِفِ ذَاتِ الْقَتَبِ فَلَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهَا

[AI] I heard Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari recite this verse: "And We will gather them together on the Day of Resurrection, [fallen] on their faces - blind, dumb and deaf" [Surah Al-Isra, 17:97]. So Abu Dharr said, The trustworthy and truthful one (i.e., Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) told me: "Indeed, people will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection into three groups: those who walk and ride, those who crawl and those who are dragged by the angels on their faces." We said, we already know about the first two groups, what about those who crawl and are dragged? He said: "Allah will inflict a disease on their backs so severe that not a single spot on their backs will remain untouched. A person will even give away his beautiful garden for a hideous, blemished camel."

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيَّ وَتَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {وَنَحْشُرُهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ عُمْيًا وَبُكْمًا وَصُمًّا} [الإسراء 97] فَقَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ حَدَّثَنِي الصَّادِقُ الْمَصْدُوقُ ﷺ «إِنَّ النَّاسَ يُحْشَرُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى ثَلَاثَةِ أَفْوَاجٍ طَاعِمِينَ كَاسِينَ رَاكِبِينَ وَفَوْجٌ يَمْشُونَ وَيَسْعَوْنَ وَفَوْجٌ تَسْحَبُهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ» قُلْنَا قَدْ عَرَفْنَا هَذَيْنِ فَمَا تِلْكَ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ وَيَسْعَوْنَ؟ قَالَ «يُلْقِي اللَّهُ الْآفَةَ عَلَى الظَّهْرِ حَتَّى لَا تَبْقَى ذَاتُ ظَهْرٍ حَتَّى إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُعْطِي الْحَدِيقَةَ الْمُعْجِبَةَ بِالشَّارِدَةِ ذَاتِ الْقَتَبِ»

[AI] Narrated by Al-Sadiq Al-Masdooq ﷺ : "People will be gathered into three groups: a group that will be fed and clothed, a group that will be walking and striving, and a group that will be dragged by the angels on their faces towards the Hellfire. We said, 'O Abu Dharr, we have recognized these two groups, but what about the group that will be walking and striving?' He replied, 'Allah will afflict them with calamities on their backs until they have no strength left.'"

حَدَّثَنِي الصَّادِقُ الْمَصْدُوقُ ﷺ إِنَّ النَّاسَ يُحْشَرُونَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَفْوَاجٍ فَوْجًا طَاعِمِينَ كَاسِيِينَ رَاكِبِينَ وَفَوْجًا يَمْشُونَ وَيَسْعَوْنَ وَفَوْجًا تَسْحَبُهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَى النَّارِ فَقُلْنَا يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ قَدْ عَرَفْنَا هَؤُلَاءِ وَهَؤُلَاءِ فَمَا بَالُ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ وَيَسْعَوْنَ؟ قَالَ «يُلْقِي اللَّهُ الْآفَةَ عَلَى الظَّهْرِ فَلَا ظَهْرَ»

"إِنَّ الناسَ يُحْشَرُونَ يومَ القيامةِ على ثلاثة أَفواجٍ، فوج راكبين طاعمين كاسين، وفوج تَسْحَبُهُم الملائكة على وجوههم وتَحْشِرُهم النَّارَ، وفوج يمشُون ويَسْعَوْنَ، يُلْقِى اللهُ الآفةَ على الظَّهْر فلا يبقى ذاتُ ظهْر، حتى إِنَّ الرجُلَ ليكونُ له الحديقةُ، لا يقدرُ عليها، يعطيها بذات القَتَب الْمُعْجبةِ".
