bayhaqi:7745 – Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī b. Aḥmad b. ʿAbdān > Aḥmad b. ʿUbayd al-Ṣaffār > Abū Muslim Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbdullāh > Abū al-Walīd And Sulaymān b. Ḥarb Wa-al-Lafẓ Liʾabī al-Walīd > Shuʿbah > ʿUmariw b. Murrah > Khaythamah > ʿAdī b. Ḥātim al-Ṭāʾī

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the fire, so he sought refuge from it and turned his face away. Then he mentioned it again and sought refuge from it and turned his face away. Shu'bah said: "Regarding the two times, there is no doubt. Then he said: 'Beware of the fire, even with half a date. And if you cannot find that, then with a good word.'"  

البيهقي:٧٧٤٥ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي الْوَلِيدِ قَالَا ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عُمَرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ الطَّائِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ذَكَرَ النَّارَ فَتَعَوَّذَ مِنْهَا وَأَشَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ وَذَكَرَ فَتَعَوَّذَ مِنْهَا وَأَشَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَمَّا مَرَّتَيْنِ فَلَا شَكَّ ثُمَّ قَالَ اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ  

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ وَسُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ حَرْبٍ وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ

The Prophet ﷺ mentioned the Fire and turned his face aside and asked for Allah's protection from it, and then again he mentioned the Fire and turned his face aside and asked for Allah's protection from it and said, "Protect yourselves from the Hell-Fire, even if with one half of a date, and he who cannot afford that, then (let him do so) by (saying) a good, pleasant word."

The Prophet ﷺ mentioned the (Hell) Fire and sought refuge (with Allah) from it, and turned his face to the other side. He mentioned the (Hell) Fire again and took refuge (with Allah) from it and turned his face to the other side. (Shuʿba, the sub-narrator, said, "I have no doubt that the Prophet ﷺ repeated it twice.") The Prophet ﷺ then said, "(O people!) Save yourselves from the (Hell) Fire even if with one half of a date fruit (given in charity), and if this is not available, then (save yourselves) by saying a good pleasant friendly word."
