Anas said that the Prophet ﷺ appointed Ibn Umm Maktum as substitute to lead the people in prayer, and he was blind. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 595)

The Prophet ﷺ appointed Ubn Umm Makthum as a governor of Medina (in his absence) twice.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَخْلَفَ ابْنَ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ مَرَّتَيْنِ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَخْلَفَ ابْنَ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ يَؤُمُّ النَّاسَ وَهُوَ أَعْمَى
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed Ibn Umm Maktum as the leader of Medina two times, leading the prayer despite being blind.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ اسْتَخْلَفَ ابْنَ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ مَرَّتَيْنِ يُصَلِّي بِهِمْ وَهُوَ أَعْمَى
