A man came to the Prophet, and he had uttered Zihar upon his wife then he had intercourse with her. So he said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I uttered Zihar against my wife, then I had intercourse with her before atoning.' He (pbuh) said: "What caused you to do that, may Allah have mercy upon you?' He said: 'I saw her anklets in the moonlight.' He said: 'Then do not go near her until you have done what Allah ordered (for it).'"

أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَدْ ظَاهَرَ مِنِ امْرَأَتِهِ فَوَقَعَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي قَدْ ظَاهَرْتُ مِنْ زَوْجَتِي فَوَقَعْتُ عَلَيْهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ أُكَفِّرَ فَقَالَ وَمَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ خُلْخَالَهَا فِي ضَوْءِ الْقَمَرِ قَالَ فَلاَ تَقْرَبْهَا حَتَّى تَفْعَلَ مَا أَمَرَكَ اللَّهُ بِهِ

"O Messenger of Allah, I declared Zihar on my wife, then I had intercourse with her before I offered the expiation." He said: "What made you do that, may Allah have mercy on you?" He said: "I saw her anklets in the light of the moon." He said: "Do not approach her until you have done that which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has commanded."

"A man declared Zihar to his wife, then had intercourse with her before he had offered the expiation. He mentioned that to the Prophet. The Prophet said to him: 'What made you do that?' He said: 'May Allah have mercy on you, O Messenger of Allah. I saw her anklets, or her calves, in the light of the moon.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'Keep away from her until you have done that which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has commanded.'"

تَظَاهَرَ رَجُلٌ مِنِ امْرَأَتِهِ فَأَصَابَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ قَالَ رَحِمَكَ اللَّهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رَأَيْتُ خَلْخَالَهَا أَوْ سَاقَيْهَا فِي ضَوْءِ الْقَمَرِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَاعْتَزِلْهَا حَتَّى تَفْعَلَ مَا أَمَرَكَ اللَّهُ ﷻ

a man declared Zihar upon his wife, then he had intercourse with her before offering expiation. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and told him about that. He said: "What made you do that?" He said: "I saw her ankles in the moonlight, and I could not control myself, and I had intercourse with her." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and told him not to go near her until he had offered expiation.

أَنَّ رَجُلاً ظَاهَرَ مِنِ امْرَأَتِهِ فَغَشِيَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ حِجْلَيْهَا فِي الْقَمَرِ فَلَمْ أَمْلِكْ نَفْسِي أَنْ وَقَعْتُ عَلَيْهَا فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَمَرَهُ أَلاَّ يَقْرَبَهَا حَتَّى يُكَفِّرَ

[AI] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ while it was apparent that he had engaged in intimacy with his wife. The man confessed, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, I engaged in intimacy with my wife before performing the ritual purification." The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What led you to do this? May Allah have mercy on you?" The man replied, "I saw her ankle bracelet in the moonlight." The Prophet ﷺ then advised him, "Do not approach her until you have fulfilled the command of Allah, the Exalted." This hadith is witnessed by Isma'il bin Muslim from 'Amr bin Dinar, and the two prominent scholars, Isma'il bin Muslim and Al-Hakam bin Aban, have never been disputed except that Al-Hakam bin Aban is considered truthful while the authenticity of Isma'il bin Muslim is questioned by Al-'Adani.

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَقَدْ ظَاهَرَ مِنِ امْرَأَتِهِ فَوَقَعَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي ظَاهَرْتُ مِنِ امْرَأَتِي فَوَقَعَتْ عَلَيْهَا مِنْ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُكَفِّرَ قَالَ «وَمَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ؟» قَالَ رَأَيْتُ خَلْخَالَهَا فِي ضَوْءِ الْقَمَرِ قَالَ «فَلَا تَقْرَبْهَا حَتَّى تَفْعَلَ مَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى» شَاهِدُهُ حَدِيثُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ «وَلَمْ يَحْتَجَّ الشَّيْخَانِ بِإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَلَا بِالْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبَانَ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْحَكَمَ بْنَ أَبَانَ صَدُوقٌ» العدني غير ثقة

[AI] A man appeared from his wife and saw her ankle bracelet in the moonlight, which amazed him. He then fell upon her and went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned it to him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said [to His angels] before they interacted with one another [sexually], "Hold back until they can be purified."' The man said, "That happened for us." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Hold back until you are purified."

أَنَّ رَجُلًا ظَاهَرَ مِنِ امْرَأَتِهِ فَرَأَى خَلْخَالَهَا فِي ضَوْءِ الْقَمَرِ فَأَعْجَبَهُ فَوَقَعَ عَلَيْهَا فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَتَمَاسَّا} [المجادلة 3] فَقَالَ قَدْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَمْسِكْ حَتَّى تُكَفِّرَ» إسماعيل واه

[AI] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I had an intimate relation with my wife before I made ghusl (ritual purification)." The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "What made you do that?" He replied, "I saw her thigh in the moonlight and could not resist." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Leave her until you have performed ghusl."

أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي ظَاهَرْتُ مِنَ امْرَأَتِي وقَرَبْتُها قَبْلَ أَنْ أُكَفِّرَ قَالَ «وَمَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ؟» قَالَ رَأَيْتُ سَاقَهَا فِي الْقَمَرِ فَأَصَبْتُهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اعْتَزِلْهَا حَتَّى تُكَفِّرَ»

The Prophet ﷺ advised him, "Refrain from her until she completes her purification."
