Abu Bakr came to my father who was at home and purchased a saddle from him. He said to ʿAzib. "Tell your son to carry it with me." So I carried it with him and my father followed us so as to take the price (of the saddle). My father said, "O Abu Bakr! Tell me what happened to you on your night journey with Messenger of Allah ﷺ (during Migration)." He said, "Yes, we travelled the whole night and also the next day till midday. when nobody could be seen on the way ( because of the severe heat) . Then there appeared a long rock having shade beneath it, and the sunshine had not come to it yet. So we dismounted there and I levelled a place and covered it with an animal hide or dry grass for the Prophet ﷺ to sleep on (for a while). I then said, 'Sleep, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I will guard you.' So he slept and I went out to guard him. Suddenly I saw a shepherd coming with his sheep to that rock with the same intention we had when we came to it. I asked (him). 'To whom do you belong, O boy?' He replied, 'I belong to a man from Medina or Mecca.' I said, 'Do your sheep have milk?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Will you milk for us?' He said, 'Yes.' He caught hold of a sheep and I asked him to clean its teat from dust, hairs and dirt. (The sub-narrator said that he saw Al-Bara' striking one of his hands with the other, demonstrating how the shepherd removed the dust.) The shepherd milked a little milk in a wooden container and I had a leather container which I carried for the Prophet ﷺ to drink and perform the ablution from. I went to the Prophet, hating to wake him up, but when I reached there, the Prophet ﷺ had already awakened; so I poured water over the middle part of the milk container, till the milk was cold. Then I said, 'Drink, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!' He drank till I was pleased. Then he asked, 'Has the time for our departure come?' I said, 'Yes.' So we departed after midday. Suraqa bin Malik followed us and I said, 'We have been discovered, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!' He said, Don't grieve for Allah is with us.' The Prophet ﷺ invoked evil on him (i.e. Suraqa) and so the legs of his horse sank into the earth up to its belly. (The subnarrator, Zuhair is not sure whether Abu Bakr said, "(It sank) into solid earth.") Suraqa said, 'I see that you have invoked evil on me. Please invoke good on me, and by Allah, I will cause those who are seeking after you to return.' The Prophet ﷺ invoked good on him and he was saved. Then, whenever he met somebody on the way, he would say, 'I have looked for him here in vain.' So he caused whomever he met to return. Thus Suraqa fulfilled his promise."

Send your son to my residence (to carry this haudaj), and my father said to me: Carry it (for him). So I carried it and there went along with him (with Abu Bakr) my father in order to fetch its price and he ('Azib) said to Abu Bakr: Abu Bakr, narrate to me what you both did on the night when you set out on a journey along with Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: We set out during the night and went on walking until it was noon, and the path was vacant and so none passed by that (until) there appeared prominently before us a large rock. It had its shade and the rays of the sun did not reach that place. So we got down at that place. I then went to the rock and levelled the ground with my hands at the place where the Prophet ﷺ would take rest under its shade. I then set the bedding and said: Messenger of Allah, go to sleep and I shall keep a watch around you. I went out and watched around him. There we saw a shepherd moving towards that rock with his flock and he intended what we intended (i. e. taking rest). I met him and said to him: Young boy, to which place do you belong? He said: I am a person from Medina. I said, is there any milk in the udders of your sheep and goats? He said: Yes. He took hold of a goat, and I said to him: Clean the udder well so that it should be free from hair, dust and impurity. I saw al-Bara' striking his hand upon the other (to give an indication) how he did that. He milked the goat for me in a wooden cup which he had with him and I had with me a bucket in which I kept water for drinking and for performing ablution. I came to Allah's Apostle ﷺ and did not like to awaken him from sleep but he was accidentally startled from the sleep. I poured water upon the milk (till It was cold) and I said: Messenger of Allah, take this milk. He then took It and I was delighted and he (the Holy Prophet) said: Is now not the time to march on? I said: Of course. So he marched on after the sun had passed the meridian and Suraqa b. Malik pursued us and we had been walking on soft, level ground. I said: Messenger of Allah, we are about to be overtaken by them. Thereupon he said: Be not grieved. Verily, Allah is with us. Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed him and his horse sank into the earth. I think he also said: I know you have hurled curse upon me. So supplicate Allah for me and I take an oath that I shall turn everyone away who would come in search of you. So he (Messenger of Allah) supplicated Allah and he was rescued and he came back and to everyone he met, he said: I have combed all this side. In short, he diverted everyone whom he met and he in fact fulfilled his promise.

[Machine] I was in the company of my father Talha on the day of Khaybar, and my feet touched the feet of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We came to them when the sun rose, and they had already brought out their cattle and were herding them. They also came out with their weapons and shackles as they passed by. They said, "Muhammad and al-Khamis (the Prophet and his companions)." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allahu Akbar! Khaybar is ruined. When we conquer the land of a people, it is a terrible morning for those who are warned." He said, "Allah has given them a great defeat." He said, "A beautiful young slave girl called Dayyah fell into the hands of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He bought her for seven dinars and then gave her to Umm Sulaim to dress and prepare her. She was the daughter of Huwayy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed her as his concubine and gave her a diet of dates, barley, and clarified butter. Then the ground was tested with locusts and the meat, dates, and clarified butter were placed on it. The people ate until they were full. They said, "We don't know if he married her or made her the mother of a child." They said, "If he hides her, then she is his wife, and if he does not hide her, then she is the mother of a child." When he wanted to ride, he covered her until she sat on the back of a camel. When they came close to Al-Madinah, his she-camel, called Adba', stumbled. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ muttered to himself, and she muttered to herself. He said, "May Allah distance the Jewess." I said, "O Abu Hamzah, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ marry her?" He said, "Yes, by Allah, he did marry her, and I witnessed the marriage feast of Zaynab bint Jahsh where the people were given bread and meat. He used to send me to invite the people. When I finished, he stood up, and I followed him. Two men lagged behind and he talked to them. They did not come out until they saw him leave. When they saw him, they stood up and left." He said, "By Allah, I do not know if I mentioned it to him or if the revelation came down to him informing him that they had gone out. He left and I followed him. When he put his foot in the threshold of the door, he drew the curtain between me and him. Then Allah revealed these Ayat: 'O you who believe! Enter not the Prophet's houses until permission is given to you for a meal, (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation.' Until the end of the Ayah."

[Machine] "Abdul Rahman, I recited this hadith to my father and he accepted it, and he told us some of it in another place. He said, "Moses bin Hilal Al-Abdyy told us that Hammam narrated from Ibn Sirin, from Anas bin Malik, who said: Abu Talha married Umm Sulaim, who was the mother of Anas. Al-Bara' said: "Then she gave birth to a son and Abu Talha loved him intensely." He said: "The child became seriously ill, so Abu Talha used to perform the morning prayer, perform ablution, meet the Prophet ﷺ and pray with him, and then stay with him until close to midday. He would then come and be informed that the child had eaten, so when he prayed Dhuhr prayer, he freshened up and left, and he did not come to the 'Isha prayer." He said: "That evening passed and the child died." He said: "Then Abu Talha came and she covered him with a garment and left him." He said: "Then Abu Talha said to Umm Sulaim," O Umm Sulaim, how did our son spend tonight?" She said: "O Abu Talha, your son has not slept since he became sick." He said: "Then she brought food and he ate, and his soul was comforted." He said: "Then he went to his bed and put his head down." She said: "And I got up and touched something nice, then I came back and entered the bed with him, and the only thing he found was the smell of the fragrance that a man gives to his wife." He said: "Then Abu Talha prepared himself as he did every day." He said: "She said to him, 'O Abu Talha, suppose a man entrusted you with a deposit and then he asked for it and you gave it to him, would you feel bad about that?'" He said: "No." She said: "Your son has died." Anas said: "Abu Talha then grieved for him greatly and told the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about what happened with regard to the food and the good things, and the things that were coming from him to her." He said: "Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Come here.' So, he went on talking until he said, 'I do not need you both tonight.' He said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'May Allah bless you both in your night.' She said: 'Umm Sulaim became pregnant that night and she gave birth to a boy.' He said: 'So, when we became day, Abu Talha said to me: 'Carry him in a piece of cloth until you bring him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .' So, I carried him in a piece of cloth.' He said: 'He was not stimulated, nor did he taste any food or drink.' He said: 'So, I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Umm Sulaim has given birth.' He said: 'Allah is the Greatest. What did she give birth to?' I said: 'A boy.' He said: 'All praise is due to Allah.' He said: 'Bring him to me.' So, I gave him to him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then put his finger in his mouth and he sucked on it. He then said: 'Do you have any Ajwa dates?' I said: 'Yes.' So, I extracted a date and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a piece of the date and placed it in his mouth, and the Prophet ﷺ kept chewing it until it combined with his saliva. Then, the Prophet ﷺ put the child down and the child was only finding the sweetness of the date, so he kept sucking on it."

[Machine] On the day of Hunayn, the Hawazin came with their women, children, camels, and sheep, and they formed rows, outnumbering the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When they encountered each other, the Muslims turned their backs, as Allah ﷻ had said. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O servants of Allah, I am the slave of Allah and His Messenger." Then he said, "O Ansar, I am the slave of Allah and His Messenger." Allah then defeated the polytheists without a sword being drawn or a spear being thrust. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said on that day, "Whoever kills a disbeliever shall have his spoils." Abu Talhah killed twenty men on that day and took their spoils. Abu Qatadah said, "O Messenger of Allah, I struck a man with my sword on his shoulder, and he had a coat of mail on him. I was unable to retrieve my sword. Hammmad said the same, and I hastened past him. So look who took it." A man stood up and said, "I took it, so give it to me and leave me a part of it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was not asked for anything except that he gave it or withheld it. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent. Umar swore, "By Allah, Allah will not give it to anyone more deserving of it than you." The Prophet ﷺ laughed and said, "Umar has spoken the truth." Then Abu Talhah met Umm Sulaim and she had a dagger with her. Abu Talhah asked, "Why do you have this with you?" She said, "I intended that if any of the polytheists approached me, I would stab him in the stomach with it." Abu Talhah said, "Don't you hear what Umm Sulaim is saying?" She said, "O Messenger of Allah, kill those who will come after us from the victorious ones. They have been defeated by you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has sufficed us and has been good to us, O Umm Sulaim."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ invited me and said, "I have been informed that Khalid ibn Safwan ibn Nubayh al-Hadhali is gathering people to attack me while he is wearing a protective garment. Go to him and kill him." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, describe him to me so that I may recognize him." He said, "When you see him and notice goosebumps on your skin, proceed towards him and fear that there may be a plan between me and him to distract me from prayer. So I prayed while walking towards him and gestured with my head to indicate rukoo' and sujood. When I reached him, he asked, 'Who is this person?' I said, 'A man from the Arabs who heard about you and your gathering for this man, so he came to you.' He said, 'Indeed, I am that person.' He said, 'I walked with him for a while until I was able to bear the sword on him, and then I killed him. Then I left and abandoned his belongings on him. When I arrived before the Messenger of Allah, he saw me and said, 'Successful is the face.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have killed him.' He said, 'You have spoken the truth.' Then he stood up with me, the Messenger of Allah, and entered his house and gave me a staff and said, 'Hold onto this, O Abdullah ibn Unais.' So I went out to the people with it, and they said, 'What is this staff?' I said, 'The Messenger of Allah gave it to me and commanded me to hold onto it.' They said, 'Why don't you return to the Messenger of Allah and ask him about it?' He said, 'So I returned to the Messenger of Allah and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, why did you give me this staff?' He said, 'It is a sign between me and you on the Day of Judgment. Indeed, the fewest people on that day will be the ones carrying staffs.' Abdullah then tied it to his sword and kept it with him until he died. When he died, he was wrapped with it in his burial shroud and we were all buried together."

[Machine] And she said to her family, "Do not inform anyone from among you of the death of Abu Talhah's son." So he returned to his family, and some people from the people of the mosque who were his companions accompanied him. He asked, "What did the boy do?" She said, "He did the best thing. So I brought them their dinner, and they ate. Then the people left, and the woman went to where women go. When it was the end of the night, she said, "O Abu Talhah, did you not see how the Fulan family borrowed a female camel and enjoyed her, but when she was demanded back, they disliked that?" He said, "They were not fair." She said, "Indeed, your son was borrowed from Allah the Almighty and Allah took him back, so He returned him." Abu Talhah praised Allah. When morning came, he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and when he saw him, he said, "May Allah bless your night." She became pregnant with Abdullah and gave birth to him at night. And she disliked to give him a bath until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him a bath. He said, "Do you have anything with you?" I said, "Some dates of al-'Ajwah." So he took some of them and chewed them, and then he saliva and gave it to the child, and he rubbed it on his body. Then he said, "The love of the Ansar is in dates." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, name him." He said, "His name is Abdullah."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: When any one of you is afflicted with a calamity, let him say: "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. O Allah, I seek reward with You for my calamity, and replace it with something better." When Abu Salamah was in his death throes, he said: "O Allah, compensate me for my loss with something better." When he died, I said: "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. O Allah, I seek reward with You for my calamity, and replace it with something better." She added: "I wanted to say: Replace it for me with something better than him, but I could not say that. When her waiting period was over, Abu Bakr proposed marriage to her, then 'Umar proposed marriage to her, but the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said to her: "Do not be hasty, O 'Umar. I will not withhold her from you, but I have not conferred a blessing upon her yet. Her children will be given to you." She said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have no need for children; rather I want to uphold the ties of kinship." 'Umar said: "I knitted together two garments for her, and stuffed them with a kind of grass, then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , came and took her, and put her in her cradle in his room, and the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was a modest and honorable man, and he would shy away from her, but he used to do that repeatedly." Then 'Ammar ibn Yasir, who was her foster brother through her mother, came and entered upon her, and he moved her cradle from his room and said: "Take away this tainted woman who was the cause of the harm caused to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ ." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , came in and put his hand on his forehead, and said: "Where is Zainab? What has Zainab done?" She said: "Ammar came and took her away." He said: "Then he married her to his own cousin and kin."

[Machine] The translation is as follows:

"This is the month when the son of Abdullah ibn Abdul Muttalib, Muhammad, the last of the prophets, would leave the sanctuary, migrate to a cluster of palm trees, a valley, and swim. Beware of going ahead of him," Talha said. When he said this, it hit my heart, so I hurriedly left until I reached Makkah. I asked, "Has anything happened?" They said, "Yes, Muhammad ibn Abdullah, the trustworthy, has prophesied, and Ibn Abi Quhafa has followed him." I left until I entered upon Abu Bakr and asked, "Have you followed this man?" He replied, "Yes, so set out to meet him and join him, for he calls to the truth." Talha informed him of what the hermit had said. Abu Bakr came with Talha and entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and then Talha accepted Islam and informed the Prophet of what the hermit had said. The Prophet explained it to him. When Abu Bakr and Talha embraced Islam, Nawfal ibn Khuwaylid ibn Al-Adawiyyah took hold of them with one rope, and the sons of Taim did not prevent him. Nawfal ibn Khuwaylid was called Ashadd Quraish (the harshest of the Quraish) because of this incident, and that is why Abu Bakr and Talha were known as Al-Qariniyin (the two Caravan Leaders). Talha did not participate in the Battle of Badr because he was with the Prophet and Sa'id ibn Zaid, spying on the movements of the caravan. When they returned, the Prophet had already finished fighting the polytheists. They met him in a shaded area, Munthah, near the valley of Badr, while he was returning from the battle. However, he witnessed Uhud and other events with the Prophet. He was one of those who stood firm with the Prophet on the Day of Uhud, when the people left him and pledged allegiance to him even until death. Malik ibn Zuhayr threw a spear at the Prophet that day, and Talha protected him with his hand. His little finger was injured, so he said, "Ouch, ouch," when he was struck by the spear. Talha mentioned that the Prophet had said, "If he had said 'Bismillah', he would have entered Paradise while people were watching." On that day, Talha was struck on the head with a severe blow by a polytheist. The blow was delivered twice while Talha was facing him, and one blow while he turned his back. ذِكْرُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ ؓ

ibnhibban:7160Aḥmad b. ʿAlī b. al-Muthanná > Abū Khaythamah > Yaʿqūb b. Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd from my father > Ibn Isḥāq > Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. al-Zubayr > Ibn ʿAbdullāh b. Unays from his father

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him and said, "I have been informed that Ibn Safwan ibn Nubayh al-Hudhali has gathered people to support me while he is near a date palm or a cluster of dates, so go to him." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, describe him to me so that I may recognize him." He said, "One of the signs between you and him is that when you see him, you will find a shiver down your spine." He said, "So I set out with my sword wrapped around me until I came to him while he was in a shady place which he usually visited at the time of Asr prayer. When I saw him, I found exactly what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had described to me. So I approached him and feared that there might be some attempt to distract me from the prayer, so I prayed while walking towards him and nodded with my head. When I finished the prayer, I went up to him and he said, "Who is it?" I said, "A man from the Arabs who heard about you and your gathering for this man and came for that reason." He said, "It is indeed me." So I walked with him for a while until it was possible for me to seize him with my sword, so I killed him. Then I came and left his belongings piled up around him. When I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he saw me, he said, "The face has succeeded." I said, "I killed him, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "You have spoken the truth." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up with me and took me to his house and gave me a stick and said, "Keep this stick with you, O Abdullah ibn Unays." He said, "So I went out with it among the people, and they said, "What is this stick?" I said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave it to me and ordered me to keep it." They said, "Why don't you return to the Messenger of Allah and ask him about it?" He said, "So I went back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, why did you give me this stick?" He said, "It is a sign between you and me on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, the least of people on that day will be those who are too short." So Abdullah linked it to his sword and it remained with him until his death. Then he (the Prophet) ordered that it be buried with him in his shroud, and so we were all buried together.

[Machine] "He (Abu Talhah) has no equal to you. But I am a Muslim woman and you are a disbelieving man, so it is not permissible for me to marry you. However, if you convert, that will be my dowry and I will not ask you for anything else." So he converted and she became his wife. They consummated the marriage and she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy in the morning. Abu Talhah loved him intensely. The boy lived until he was able to move, but then he fell ill and Abu Talhah was deeply saddened by him to the point of becoming physically weak. He would visit the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the day and stay there until the evening. The baby eventually passed away, and Umm Sulaym performed the necessary rituals for him, cleaned him, and placed him in their bed. Abu Talhah came and asked her, "How is our son doing?" She replied, "He is in the best condition since he fell ill. He had a peaceful night." Abu Talhah praised Allah and was pleased with that. She served him dinner, and after eating, he touched her in a subtle way, and she allowed it until they had intimate relations. Afterward, when he got up, he mentioned to her, "If you were to lend a neighbor of yours some priceless possessions and then he wanted to take them back, would you return them to him?" She replied, "By Allah, I would certainly return them to him." He said, "Is your own self valuable to you?" She said, "My own self is definitely valuable to me." He said, "Indeed, Allah has lent us a son and allowed us to enjoy him for as long as He wished, but then He took him back. So be patient and seek reward from Allah." Abu Talhah remained patient and then set off in the morning to visit the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and narrated to him the incident as told by Umm Sulaym. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah bless both of you in your night." Umm Sulaym became pregnant again, and this time the pregnancy was heavier. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Talhah, "When Umm Sulaym gives birth, bring the child to me." Abu Talhah wrapped the baby in a cloth and brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Messenger of Allah then chewed a date and placed it in the baby's mouth, and the baby immediately stopped crying. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Talhah, "The people of Madinah love dates." He smoothed the baby's hair, named him Abdullah, and made dua for him.

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "What happened to Abu Umair?" He (Abu Talhah) replied, "He fell ill, and Abu Talhah was absent in one of his gardens. The child died, so Umm Sulaim washed, shrouded, and perfumed him, and she put a cloth on him and said, 'No one should inform Abu Talhah until I inform him myself.' Then Abu Talhah came in angrily as he was fasting, so Umm Sulaim prepared herself for him and made herself presentable. She brought him his dinner, and he asked, 'What did Abu Umair do?' She replied, 'He had dinner and afterwards he was gone.' He said, 'Then I will also have dinner.' He ate from it what a man would eat from his family, and then she said, 'O Abu Talhah, have you seen a people who would lend their clothes to another family naked? So their owners may ask them to return it, or they would keep it?' He replied, 'No, they would return it to them.' She said, 'Then be patient and have hope, O Abu Umair.' He became angry and went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of the words of Umm Sulaim. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'May Allah bless your night.' Then she gave birth to Abdullah bin Abu Talhah on the seventh day. Umm Sulaim said to me, 'O Anas, take this baby and this towel, and there is some ajwa dates in it, to the Prophet ﷺ so that he will massage and name him.' So I went to the Prophet ﷺ with the baby, and he extended his legs and laid him down in his bed, and he took a date, chewed it, and placed it in the mouth of the baby and rubbed it on his palate. Then he said, 'The Ansar would only love dates.'"

[Machine] Abu Talhah came to Umm Sulaim, the mother of Anas, and Abu Talhah asked her if she had anything. She replied that she had some barley, which she ground and then she was sent to the market. She went to the market and found its walls closed. She found some firewood and brought it. She made some bread out of it and brought it to Abu Talhah. He asked her if she had any ghee (butterfat) and she replied that she had a container of ghee which she didn't know if she should keep or use. So she brought it to him and he squeezed it. He said that squeezing ghee from two people is more food than squeezing from one person. They both squeezed it and brought out something the size of a date. Then she applied the ghee to the bread and he asked if there was any soup. She replied that they had some soup with fat floating in it and she didn't know if she should keep it or use it. So she brought it to him and he poured it over the bread. Then he called for ten men to come and they ate from it until they were full. They continued to enter in groups of ten until they were all full. Then the Messenger of Allah sat down with them and we sat with him and we ate until we were satisfied.

[Machine] Abu Talhah, O Umm Sulaym, prepare something for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . She ground some barley and made it into a dish. Then Abu Talhah called me and said, "Go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and say, 'Verily, my father invites you and your companion (meaning me).' Anas said, "So I went and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in the mosque. When he saw me, he said, 'O Anas.' I replied, 'Here I am, O Messenger of Allah.' He asked, 'Did your father call you?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Go then.' Every time the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a gathering, he would say, 'Stand up.' So I quickly went until I reached Abu Talhah and said, 'This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who has come and he has brought some people with him.' Abu Talhah said, 'Didn't I tell you to invite him privately?' I said, 'Yes, but when he asked me if my father had called me, I could not lie to him.' So Abu Talhah met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the door of the house and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, this is something we wanted to offer you.' He said, 'Enter.' So they both entered and Umm Sulaym had a flatbread (al-ukkah) that she was pressing and it was dry or nearly dry. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Umm Sulaym, give it to me so that I can soften it for her in a better manner than you.'" He (the narrator) said: "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it with his hand and said, 'With ghee like this.' Then he placed his hand on top of the bread and said, 'O Abu Talhah, bring ten (people).' So ten entered and they all ate until they were full. Then he continued to bring in another ten, ten by ten, until seventy or eighty had entered. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people of the household ate, and they gave the best of what they had to their neighbors."

[Machine] Umm Sulaim gave birth to a boy, but he became sick and his condition worsened. Then Umm Sulaim died, and Abu Talha went to the Prophet ﷺ . Abu Talha left the Prophet's presence when he was praying Maghrib. Umm Sulaim wrapped the child and placed him in a corner of her house. Abu Talha missed the child and Umm Sulaim told him that she had made a vow not to bring the child near him, as he had not had a peaceful night since he became sick. So she brought him close to him and he ate. Then she brought him something good and he also ate that. Then she approached Abu Talha and he ate as well. Abu Talha said, "O Abu Talha, if you had seen our neighbors borrowing from each other clothes until they thought we had given them to them, but when they returned them, they found in themselves regret for what they had done." She said, "Indeed, Allah had granted you Fulan (the child) and then He took him back from you, and He is more deserving of him than you." So the next day he went to the Prophet ﷺ in the morning, and informed him of the news. The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah, bless their night." Umm Sulaim became pregnant with Abdullah Ibn Abu Talha and she placed him at the end of the night. She said, "Do not wake him up until morning." When morning came, she washed him and made him happy. Then she called Anas and said, "O my son, take your brother to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." Anas said, "So I went and carried him, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing in his Izar (waist wrap) with a comb in his hand. He said, 'O Anas, what is this with you?' I said, 'My brother, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Bring him to me.' So I presented him to him, and he called for a date and chewed it, and then he rubbed the child's gums. The child smiled, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The love of the Ansar is in dates.'"

[Machine] "Do not inform Abu Talhah of the death of my son until I am the one who informs him," she said. So he came and she served him dinner and a drink. He ate and drank, then she prepared herself in the best way she had never done before. When he was full and satisfied, she revealed the news to him. When she realized that he had eaten and satisfied his need, she said, "O Abu Talhah, what if a family borrowed some clothes from another family, and then the borrowing family asked for their clothes back, would it be fair for them to keep the clothes?" He said, "No." She said, "Then be patient, and your son will be returned to you." He became angry and said, "You have left me, and now you tell me about the death of my son." He went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you not see what Umm Sulaim did?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah bless both of you in your night." He then went on to say that she became pregnant that night. She and Abu Talhah were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when she went into labor. Abu Talhah stayed with her, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued on. Abu Talhah said, "O Lord, you know that it pleases me to go out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he goes out and to enter with him when he enters. But this happened, so I will stay with her." He said this while feeling very distressed. The labor pains of Umm Sulaim began, and she gave birth to a baby boy. Her mother said to me, "O Anas, do not feed him anything until you take him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ tomorrow morning." Anas said, "So I spent that night comforting him as he cried until morning. I took the baby boy to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I found that he had a small date branch in his hand. When he saw the baby with me, he said, 'Perhaps Umm Sulaim gave birth?' I said, 'Yes.' He then placed the date branch in his mouth until it melted, then he put it in the mouth of the baby. The baby became peaceful, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Look at the love of the Ansar for dates.' He then wiped his face and named him Abdullah."

[Machine] Salih, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , seized the property of the people of Khaybar, except for themselves and their children. The Prophet then asked for the whereabouts of their utensils that were used in their weddings, to which they replied that the Prophet had expelled them and they had spent it. The Prophet said, "See what you say, for if you hide it from me, I will consider it as your blood and that of your descendants." Then he called two men from the Ansar and said to them, "Go to such and such a place and look for a hut with a patch on its roof. Remove the patch and bring me the utensils." They went and returned with the utensils. The Messenger of Allah struck their necks and sent for their offspring. Safiyya, who was their bride, was brought to him. He ordered Bilal to take her to his house. Bilal went with her to the house of the Messenger of Allah. He passed by her husband and brother, who were killed. When he returned to the Messenger of Allah, he said, "Glory be to Allah! O Bilal, why did you bring a virgin girl and pass by two killed men while she saw them? Don't you have any mercy?" Bilal replied, "I intended to burn her chest." The Messenger of Allah then entered with her and spent the night with her. Abu Ayub brought his sword and sat next to the mattress. He said, "If I had heard a shepherd or a monk, I would have been close to the Messenger of Allah." The Prophet then went to Bilal's house and asked, "Who is this?" Abu Ayub said, "I am Abu Ayub." The Prophet asked, "Why are you here at this time?" Abu Ayub replied, "O Messenger of Allah, I brought a virgin girl and you had killed her husband and brother, so I was concerned for your safety. I thought I would be close to the Messenger of Allah." The Prophet said, "May Allah have mercy on you, Abu Ayub," three times. The people then discussed this matter, with some saying it was his secret and others saying she was his wife. When they were leaving, they said, "Look at the Messenger of Allah, if he covers her, then she is his wife, and if he doesn't cover her, then she is his secret." The Messenger of Allah covered her, put her on his knee, and said, "Mount." The Messenger of Allah honored her by putting her foot on his knee, and he put his knee on her thigh, and they rode off together. Before that, he had offered her the choice to either be set free or be married to him, and she chose to be set free and married. And so he did.

[Machine] "For the Jewish scholars, I am a visitor to the mosque of our father Ibrahim and Ismail, making a covenant. I went to the messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in Makkah, and I met him when he had just finished performing Hajj. The messenger of Allah ﷺ found me in Mina with the people, and I stood among them. When the messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at me, he said, 'Are you Abdullah ibn Salam?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Come closer.' So, I approached him. He asked, 'By Allah, I ask you, O Abdullah ibn Salam, do you find me in the Torah as the messenger of Allah?' I said, 'Our Lord, describe him.' He said, 'Then Jibril came to him until he stood in front of the messenger of Allah ﷺ, then he recited to him, "Say: He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent."' Then the messenger of Allah ﷺ recited it to us. Ibn Salam said, 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that you are the messenger of Allah.' Then he went to Madinah and kept his Islam hidden. When the messenger of Allah ﷺ migrated to Madinah, I was on top of a palm tree, and I heard a noise in the city. I said, 'What is this?' They said, 'It is the messenger of Allah who has arrived.' So, I threw myself down from the top of the palm tree and then I approached him and greeted him. Then I went back, and my mother said, 'By Allah, if Musa ibn Imran (Moses) was here, he would not have thrown himself down from the top of the palm tree like that.' I said, 'By Allah, I went down because I am eager for the arrival of the messenger of Allah ﷺ, just as Musa ibn Imran was sent.'"

[Machine] I saw Umar ibn Al-Khattab before he was struck by the days in Medina. He stood with Hudhaifah ibn Al-Yaman and Uthman ibn Hunayf and said, "How have you two managed to bear the burden of the earth that it cannot bear?" They said, "We have carried it by a command that it can bear." Hudhaifah said, "If I were to carry it, it would be weakened." Uthman ibn Hunayf said, "I have carried it by a command that it can bear, without any great favor." Umar then said, "See that you have not carried the burden of the earth that it cannot bear." They said, "No." Umar said, "If Allah grants me safety, I will leave the widows of Iraq without needing any man after me." He said, "Only four things came upon him until he was struck." He said, "And between me and him, there is no one except Abdullah ibn Abbas in the morning." He said, "And he used to stand between the rows. If he saw any disorder among them, he would say, 'Stand still until there is no disorder among them.' Then he would proceed and say the takbir." He said, "And perhaps he would recite Surah Yusuf or An-Nahl or something similar in the first raka'a until the people gathered." He said, "And it was only that he would say the takbir." He said, "I heard him say, 'The dog has killed me or the dog has eaten me,' when he was stabbed. Then he flew out of the wound with a double-edged knife that would not pass by anyone to the right or left except that it would stab him, until he stabbed thirteen men and nine of them died. When he saw that, a Muslim man threw a cloak on him. When the assassin thought that he had taken hold of him, he slit his own throat." He said, "And Umar held the hand of Abdullah ibn Awf and brought him forward." He said, "Who will take care of Umar? He has seen what he has seen." He said, "Regarding the surroundings of the mosque, they did not know anything except that they had lost the voice of Umar while they were saying, 'Subhan Allah, Subhan Allah.' Abdul-Rahman ibn Awf led them in a light prayer. When they finished, Umar said, 'O Ibn Abbas, see who killed me.' He went for a while and then came back and said, 'The slave of Al-Mughirah killed him.' He said, 'Really?' After they all spoke with their tongues and prayed towards their qibla and performed the Hajj according to their rites, he was brought to his house. We then left with him." He said, "And it was as if the people had not been affected by any calamity before that day. Some were saying, 'There is no harm,' while others were saying, 'We fear for him.' So they brought some wine and he drank it, and it came out of his wound. Then they brought some milk and he drank it, and it came out of his wound.
