[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "May Allah have mercy on Yusuf. If it wasn't for his statement, he would have stayed in prison longer than he did. His statement was 'Mention me to your master [i.e. the king]' (Surah Yusuf 42). Then Al-Hasan would cry and say, 'And when any matter (pertaining to us) is decreed, we're scared of the people.'  

قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ يُوسُفَ لَوْلَا كَلِمَتُهُ مَا لَبِثَ فِي السِّجْنِ طُولَ مَا لَبِثَ قَوْلُهُ {اذْكُرْنِي عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ} [يوسف 42] ثُمَّ يَبْكِي الْحَسَنُ وَيَقُولُ وَنَحْنُ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِنَا أَمْرٌ فَزِعْنَا إِلَى النَّاسِ  

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah have mercy on Joseph. If the Messenger had come to me after a long imprisonment, I would have hastened to respond."  

قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ «رَحِمَ اللَّهُ يُوسُفَ لَوْ أَنَا جَاءَنِي الرَّسُولُ بَعْدَ طُولِ السِّجْنِ لَأَسْرَعْتُ لِلْإِجَابَةِ»  

[Machine] Al-Hasan said, "Yusuf was thrown into a pit when he was seventeen years old. He was then in slavery, in prison, and in the kingdom for eighty years. Then, his family was brought together for him, and he lived for another thirty-five years."  

قَالَ الْحَسَنُ «أُلْقِيَ يُوسُفُ فِي الْجُبِّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً فَكَانَ فِي الْعُبُودِيَّةِ وَفِي السِّجْنِ وَفِي الْمُلْكِ ثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً ثُمَّ جُمِعَ لَهُ شَمْلُهُ فَعَاشَ ثَلَاثًا وَخَمْسِينَ سَنَةً»  

[Machine] The food of Yahya (John), ﷺ and his father Zakariyya, was locusts and the hearts of trees. He used to say: "Who has a better provision than you, O Yahya? Your food is locusts and the hearts of trees."  

كَانَ طَعَامُ يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ الْجَرَادُ وَقُلُوبُ الشَّجَرِ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَنْعَمُ مِنْكَ يَا يَحْيَى طَعَامُكَ [69] الْجَرَادُ وَقُلُوبُ الشَّجَرِ  

[Machine] To satisfy me, to please me, is the soft and gentle heart of the vigilant believer.  

أَنْ تَسَعَنِي وَسِعَنِي قَلْبُ الْمُؤْمِنِ الْوَارِعِ اللَّيِّنِ  

[Machine] Allah revealed to Joseph, "Who saved you from being killed when your brothers plotted to kill you?" He replied, "You, my Lord." Allah said, "Who saved you from the well when they threw you into it?" He replied, "You, my Lord." Allah said, "Why did you not mention me to the people when you mentioned them?" He replied, "There was a word I spoke with my tongue." He replied, "By my might, I will surely imprison you for a specified period."  

أَوْحَى اللَّهُ ﷻ إِلَى يُوسُفَ مَنِ اسْتَنْقَذَكَ مِنَ الْقَتْلِ إِذْ هَمَّ إِخْوَتُكَ أَنْ يَقْتُلُوكَ؟ قَالَ أَنْتَ يَا رَبِّ قَالَ فَمَنِ اسْتَنْقَذَكَ مِنَ الْجُبِّ إِذْ أَلْقَوْكَ فِيهِ؟ قَالَ أَنْتَ يَا رَبِّ قَالَ فَمَا لَكَ ذَكَرْتَ آدَمِيًّا وَنَسِيتَنِي؟ قَالَ كَلِمَةٌ تَكَلَّمَ بِهَا لِسَانِي قَالَ فَوَعِزَّتِي لَأُخْلِدَنَّكَ السِّجْنَ بِضْعَ سِنِينَ  

أَنَّ حِزْقِيلَ كَانَ فِيمَنْ سَبَا بُخْتَنَصَّرَ مَعَ دَانِيَالَ بِبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَزَعَمَ حِزْقِيلُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ نَائِمًا عَلَى شَاطِئِ الْفُرَاتِ فَأَتَاهُ مَلَكٌ وَهُوَ نَائِمٌ فَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِهِ فَاحْتَمَلَهُ حَتَّى وَضَعَهُ فِي خِزَانَةِ بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ قَالَ فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَإِذَا السَّمَاوَاتُ مُنْفَرِجَاتٍ دُونَ الْعَرْشِ قَالَ فَبَدَا لِيَ الْعَرْشُ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُ فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ تِلْكَ الْفُرْجَةِ فَإِذَا الْعَرْشُ إِذْ نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ مُظِلًّا عَلَى السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَإِذَا نَظَرْتُ إِلَى السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ رَأَيْتُهُنَّ مُعَلَّقَاتٍ بِبَطْنِ الْعَرْشِ وَإِذَا الْحَمَلَةُ أَرْبَعَةٌ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ لِكُلِّ مَلَكٍ مِنْهُمْ أَرْبَعَةُ وُجُوهٍ وَجْهُ إِنْسَانٍ وَوَجْهُ نَسْرٍ وَوَجْهُ أَسَدٍ وَوَجْهُ ثَوْرٍ فَلَمَّا أَعْجَبَنِي ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ نَظَرْتُ إِلَى أَقْدَامِهِمْ فَإِذَا هُمْ فِي تُخُومِ الْأَرْضِ عَلَى عَجَلٍ تَدُورُ لَهَا أَعْيُنٌ قَالَ وَإِذَا مَلَكٌ قَائِمٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْعَرْشِ لَهُ سِتَّةُ أَجْنِحَةٍ لَهَا لَوْنٌ كَلَوْنِ فَرَعٍ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ ذَلِكَ مَقَامَهُ مُنْذُ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ ﷻ الْخَلْقَ إِلَى أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ فَإِذَا هُوَ جِبْرِيلُ قَالَ وَإِذَا مَلَكٌ أَسْفَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَعْظَمَ شَيْءٍ رَأَيْتُهُ مِنَ الْخَلْقِ قَالَ فَإِذَا هُوَ مِيكَائِيلُ وَهُوَ خَلِيفَةٌ عَلَى مَلَائِكَةِ السَّمَاءِ وَإِذَا مَلَائِكَةٌ يَطُوفُونَ بِالْعَرْشِ مُنْذُ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ ﷻ الْخَلْقَ إِلَى أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ؛ يَقُولُونَ قُدُّوسٌ قُدُّوسٌ رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ الَّذِي مَلَأَتْ عَظَمَتُهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَإِذَا مَلَائِكَةٌ أَسْفَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ لِكُلِّ مَلَكٍ مِنْهُمْ سِتَّةُ أَجْنِحَةٍ؛ جَنَاحَانِ يَسْتُرُ بِهِمَا وَجْهَهُ مِنَ النُّورِ وَجَنَاحَانِ يُغَطِّي بِهِمَا جَسَدَهُ وَجَنَاحَانِ يَطِيرُ بِهِمَا وَإِذَا هُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ قَالَ وَإِذَا مَلَائِكَةٌ أَسْفَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؛ مِنْهُمُ السَّاجِدُ وَمِنْهُمُ الْقَائِمُ لَمْ يَزَالُوا كَذَلِكَ مُنْذُ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ إِلَى أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ قَالَ وَإِذَا مَلَائِكَةٌ أَسْفَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؛ سُجُودٌ مُنْذُ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ إِلَى أَنْ يُنْفَخَ فِي الصُّورِ رَفَعُوا رُءُوسَهُمْ فَإِذَا نَظَرُوا إِلَى الْعَرْشِ قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ مَا كُنَّا نَقْدِرُكَ حَقَّ قَدْرِكَ ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ الْعَرْشَ تَدَلَّى مِنْ تِلْكَ الْفُرْجَةِ فَكَانَ قَدْرَهَا ثُمَّ أَفْضَى بِي إِلَى مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ مِلْءَ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مِنْ بَابِ الرَّحْمَةِ فَكَانَ [70] قَدْرَهُ ثُمَّ أَفْضَى بِي إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَكَانَ قَدْرَهُ ثُمَّ وَقَعَ عَلَى الصَّخْرَةِ فَكَانَ قَدْرَهَا قَالَ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ قَالَ فَصَعِقْتُ وَسَمِعْتُ صَوْتًا لَمْ أَسْمَعْ مِثْلَهُ قَطُّ قَالَ فَذَهَبْتُ أُقَدِّرُ ذَلِكَ الصَّوْتَ فَإِذَا قَدَّرُهُ كَعَسْكَرٍ اجْتَمَعُوا فَأَجْلَبُوا بِصَوْتٍ وَاحِدٍ وَكَيْفِيَّةٍ اجْتَمَعَتْ فَتَدَافَعَتْ وَلَقِيَ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا أَوْ هُوَ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ حِزْقِيلُ فَلَمَّا صَعِقْتُ قَالَ أَنْعِشُوهُ؛ فَإِنَّهُ ضَعِيفٌ خُلِقَ مِنْ ضَعْفٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ اذْهَبْ إِلَى قَوْمِكَ فَأَنْتَ طَلِيعَتِي عَلَيْهِمْ؛ كَطَلِيعَةِ الْجَيْشِ مَنْ دَعَوْتَهُ مِنْهُمْ فَأَجَابَكَ وَاهْتَدَى بِهُدَاكَ فَلَكَ مِثْلُ أَجْرِهِ وَمَنْ غَفَلْتَ عَنْهُ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ ضَلَالًا فَعَلَيْكَ مِثْلُ وِزْرِهِ لَا يُخَفِّفُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْئًا قَالَ ثُمَّ عُرِجَ بِالْعَرْشِ وَاحْتُمِلْتُ حَتَّى رُدِدْتُ إِلَى شَاطِئِ الْفُرَاتِ فَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ عَلَى شَاطِئِ الْفُرَاتِ إِذْ أَتَانِي مَلَكٌ فَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِي فَاحْتَمَلَنِي حَتَّى أَدْخَلَنِي جَنْبَ بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِحَوْضِ مَاءٍ لَا يَجُوزُ قَدَمِي قَالَ ثُمَّ أَفْضَيْتُ مِنْهُ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ فَإِذَا شَجَرُهَا عَلَى شُطُوطِ أَنْهَارِهَا وَإِذَا هُوَ شَجَرٌ لَا يَتَنَاثَرُ وَرَقُهُ وَلَا يَفْنَى ثَمَرُهُ وَإِذَا فِيهِ الطَّلْعُ وَالْغَضُّ وَالْيَنِيعُ وَالْقَطِيفُ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَمَا لِبَاسُهَا؟ قَالَ هُوَ ثِيَابٌ كَنَبَاتِ الْجَوْزِ؛ يَنْفَلِقُ عَنْ أَيِّ لَوْنٍ شَاءَ صَاحِبُهُ قُلْتُ مَا أَزْوَاجُهَا؟ قَالَ فَعُرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ فَذَهَبْتُ لِأَقِيسَ حُسْنَ وُجُوهِهِنَّ فَإِذَا هُنَّ لَوْ جُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ كَانَ وَجْهُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ أَضْوَأَ مِنْهُمَا وَإِذَا لَحْمُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ لَا يُوَارِي عَظْمَهَا وَإِذَا عَظْمُهَا لَا يُوَارِي مُخَّهَا وَإِذَا هِيَ إِذَا نَامَ عَنْهَا صَاحِبُهَا اسْتَيْقَظَ وَهِيَ بِكْرٌ قَالَ فَعَجِبْتُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ حِزْقِيلُ فَقِيلَ لِي أَتَعْجَبُ مِنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَمَا لِي لَا أَعْجَبُ؟ قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الثِّمَارِ الَّتِي رَأَيْتَ خُلِّدَ وَمَنْ تَزَوَّجَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَزْوَاجِ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ الْهَمُّ وَالْحَزَنُ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِرَأْسِي فَرَدَّنِي إِلَى حَيْثُ كُنْتُ قَالَ حِزْقِيلُ فَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ عَلَى شَاطِئِ الْفُرَاتِ إِذْ أَتَانِي مَلَكٌ فَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِي فَاحْتَمَلَنِي حَتَّى وَضَعَنِي فِي بِقَاعٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ قَدْ كَانَتْ مَعْرَكَةً وَإِذَا فِيهِ عَشَرَةُ آلَافِ قَتِيلٍ قَدْ بَدَّدَتِ الطَّيْرُ وَالسِّبَاعُ لُحُومَهُمْ وَفَرَّقَتْ بَيْنَ أَوْصَالِهِمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي إِنَّ قَوْمًا يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُ مَنْ مَاتَ مِنْهُمْ أَوْ قُتِلَ فَقَدِ انْفَلَتَ مِنِّي وَذَهَبَتْ عَنْهُ قُدْرَتِي فَادْعُهُمْ قَالَ حِزْقِيلُ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَإِذَا كُلُّ عَظْمٍ قَدْ أَقْبَلَ إِلَى مَفْصِلِهِ الَّذِي مِنْهُ انْقَطَعَ؛ مَا الرَّجُلُ بِصَاحِبِهِ بِأَعْرَفَ مِنَ الْعَظْمِ بِمَفْصِلِهِ الَّذِي فَارَقَهُ حَتَّى أَمَّ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا ثُمَّ نَبَتَ عَلَيْهَا اللَّحْمُ ثُمَّ نَبَتَتِ الْعُرُوقُ ثُمَّ انْبَسَطَتِ الْجُلُودُ وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ ادْعُ لِي أَرْوَاحَهُمْ قَالَ حِزْقِيلُ فَدَعَوْتُهَا قَالَ فَإِذَا كُلُّ رُوحٍ قَدْ أَقْبَلَ إِلَى جَسَدِهِ الَّذِي فَارَقَ قَالَ فَلَمَّا جَلَسُوا قَالَ سَلْهُمْ فِيمَا كُنْتُمْ؟ قَالُوا إِنَّا لَمَّا مِتْنَا وَفَارَقَتْنَا الْحَيَاةُ لَفِينَا مَلَكًا يُقَالُ لَهُ مِيكَائِيلُ فَقَالَ هَلُمُّوا أَعْمَالَكُمْ وَخُذُوا أُجُورَكُمْ كَذَلِكَ سُنَّتُنَا فِيكُمْ وَفِيمَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ وَفِيمَنْ هُوَ كَائِنٌ بَعْدَكُمْ قَالَ فَنَظَرَ فِي أَعْمَالِنَا فَوَجَدُونَا نَعْبُدُ الْأَوْثَانَ فَسُلِّطَ الدُّودُ عَلَى أَجْسَادِنَا وَجَعَلَتِ الْأَرْوَاحُ تَأْلَمُهُ وَسُلِّطَ الْغَمُّ عَلَى أَرْوَاحِنَا وَجَعَلَتْ أَجْسَادُنَا تَأْلَمُهُ فَلَمْ نَزَلْ كَذَلِكَ نُعَذَّبُ حَتَّى دَعَوْتَنَا ثُمَّ احْتَمَلَنِي فَرَدَّنِي حَيْثُ كُنْتُ  

[Machine] Prophet David ﷺ said, "Job was the most patient of people, the most forbearing of people, and the one who restrained his anger the most."  

قَالَ دَاوُدُ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ أَيُّوبُ أَصْبَرَ النَّاسِ وَأَحْلَمَ النَّاسِ وَأَكْظَمَهُمْ لِلْغَيْظِ  

[Machine] "Prophet Dawood ﷺ was the most patient, tolerant, and composed of all people in anger."  

«كَانَ دَاوُدُ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَصْبَرَ النَّاسِ وَأَحْلَمَهُمْ وَأَكْظَمَهُمْ لِلْغَيْظِ»  

[Machine] Prophet Dawud ﷺ said, "O Lord, how can I serve You best on earth with sincere advice?" Allah said, "Remember me abundantly and love those who love me, whether they are black or white. Judge people as you judge yourself, and avoid backbiting."  

قَالَ دَاوُدُ النَّبِيُّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ رَبِّ كَيْفَ أَسْعَى لَكَ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِالنَّصِيحَةِ؟ قَالَ تُكْثِرُ ذِكْرِي وَتُحِبُّ مَنْ أَحَبَّنِي مِنْ أَبْيَضَ وَأَسْوَدَ وَتَحْكُمُ لِلنَّاسِ كَمَا تَحْكُمُ لِنَفْسِكَ وَتَجْتَنِبُ فِرَاشَ الْغِيبَةِ  

[Machine] A man passed by the Prophet Jacob ﷺ while his eyebrows were covering his eyes, and he had raised them with a piece of cloth. The man asked, "O Prophet of Allah, what has happened to you that I see?" He replied, "The length of time and the abundance of grief." Then Allah revealed to him, "O Jacob, are you complaining to me?" He said, "My Lord, it is a sin, so forgive it."  

مَرَّ رَجُلٌ عَلَى يَعْقُوبَ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ سَقَطَ حَاجِبَاهُ عَلَى عَيْنَيْهِ وَقَدْ رَفَعَهُمَا بِخِرْقَةٍ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ مَا بَلَغَ بِكَ مَا أَرَى؟ قَالَ طُولُ الزَّمَانِ وَكَثْرَةُ الْأَحْزَانِ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ يَا يَعْقُوبُ تَشْكُونِي؟ قَالَ رَبِّ خَطِيئَةٌ فَاغْفِرْهَا  

[Machine] Jacob wept for Joseph for eighty years, and he was the noblest among the people of the Earth in the sight of Allah on that day.  

«بَكَى يَعْقُوبُ عَلَى يُوسُفَ ثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً وَكَانَ أَكْرَمَ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى اللَّهِ ﷻ»  

[Machine] There were eighty years between the vision and its interpretation.  

«كَانَ بَيْنَ الرُّؤْيَا وَالتَّأْوِيلِ ثَمَانُونَ سَنَةً»  

[Machine] He had a gift for me, O my brother, so he gave it to me. Then Harun gave his sons to him and they were in the Holy House, vessels that were honored by the Prophets and Kings after them. So they used to drink wine from those vessels. Then, fire came down from the sky and snatched Harun's sons, so Harun became frightened by that and he stood up seeking help, directing his prayers and supplications towards the sky. So Allah inspired Harun, saying: "This is how I deal with those who disobey me from the people of obedience. So how will I deal with those who disobey me from the people of disobedience?"  

لَهُ هَارُونُ هَبْهُ لِي يَا أَخِي فَوَهَبَهُ ثُمَّ أَعْطَاهُ هَارُونُ ابْنَيْهِ وَكَانَ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ آنِيَةٌ يُعَظِّمُهَا الْأَنْبِيَاءُ وَالْمُلُوكُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ فَكَانَا يَسْقِيَانِ فِي تِلْكَ الْآنِيَةِ الْخَمْرَ فَنَزَلَتْ نَارٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَاخْتَطَفَتِ ابْنَيْ هَارُونَ فَصَعِدَتْ بِهِمَا فَفَزِعَ هَارُونُ لِذَلِكَ فَقَامَ مُسْتَغِيثًا مُوَجِّهًا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ بِالدُّعَاءِ وَالتَّضَرُّعِ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ ﷻ إِلَى هَارُونَ هَكَذَا أَفْعَلُ بِمَنْ عَصَانِي مِنْ أَهْلِ طَاعَتِي فَكَيْفَ أَفْعَلُ بِمَنْ عَصَانِي مِنْ أَهْلِ مَعْصِيَتِي؟  

[Machine] "It is written in the Torah, 'O son of Adam, move your hands and I will open for you a door of provision. And obey me in what I have commanded you; for I know what is best for you."  

أَنَّهُ مَكْتُوبٌ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ ابْنَ آدَمَ حَرِّكْ يَدَيْكَ أَفْتَحْ لَكَ بَابًا مِنَ الرِّزْقِ وَأَطِعْنِي فِيمَا أَمَرْتُكَ؛ فَمَا أَعْلَمَنِي بِمَا يُصْلِحُكَ  

[Machine] "Allah (ﷻ) said: 'O children of Adam, I created you, and you worship someone other than Me, and you call upon Me, and you run away from Me, and you remember Me and you forget Me, such is the greatest injustice in the land.' Then Al-Hasan recited: 'Indeed, associating others with Allah is a great injustice' (Quran, Surah Luqman, 31:13)."  

اللَّهُ ﷻ بَنِي آدَمَ خَلَقْتُكَ وَتَعْبُدُ غَيْرِي وَتَدْعُو إِلَيَّ وَتَفِرُّ مِنِّي وَتُذَكِّرُ بِي وَتَنْسَانِي هَذَا أَظْلَمُ ظُلْمٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ قَالَ ثُمَّ تَلَا الْحَسَنُ {إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ} [لقمان 13]  

[Machine] "I found in the Torah four consecutive verses; one of them is for whoever reads the book of Allah and thinks that he will not be forgiven, so he is one of those who mock the signs of Allah. And whoever complains about his calamity, then he has complained to his Lord. And the third is for whoever grieves over what is in the hands of others, he has indeed displeased the decree of his Lord. And the fourth is for whoever flatters a rich person and loses two-thirds of his religion."  

إِنِّي وَجَدْتُ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَسْطُرٍ مُتَوَالِيَاتٍ؛ إِحْدَاهُنَّ مَنْ قَرَأَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ ﷻ وَظَنَّ أَنْ لَنْ يُغْفَرَ لَهُ فَهُوَ مِنَ الْمُسْتَهْزِئِينَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَمَنْ شَكَا مُصِيبَتَهُ فَإِنَّمَا شَكَا رَبَّهُ وَالثَّالِثُ مَنْ حَزِنَ عَلَى مَا فِي يَدَيْ غَيْرِهِ فَقَدْ سَخِطَ قَضَاءَ رَبِّهِ الرَّابِعُ مَنْ تَضَعْضَعَ لِغَنِيٍّ ذَهَبَ ثُلُثَا دِينِهِ  

[Machine] Rabi' ibn Khuthaym said, "Acquire knowledge, then seclude yourself."  

قَالَ رَبِيعُ بْنُ خُثَيْمٍ «تَفَقَّهْ ثُمَّ اعْتَزِلْ»  

[Machine] Allah ﷻ revealed to Musa ibn Imran, "Be vigilant and take care of yourself, for every heedless moment that does not bring you closer to my pleasure is an enemy to you, and it hardens your heart. And be among those who remember, so that you may earn reward and attain more."  

أَوْحَى اللَّهُ ﷻ إِلَى مُوسَى بْنِ عِمْرَانَ كُنْ يَقْظَانًا مُرْتَادًا لِنَفْسِكَ أَخْدَانًا فَكُلُّ خِدْنٍ لَا يُوَاتِيكَ عَلَى مَسَرَّتِي فَهُوَ لَكَ عَدُوٌّ وَهُوَ يُقَسِّي قَلْبَكَ وَكُنْ مِنَ الذَّاكِرِينَ؛ لِكَيْ تَسْتَوْجِبَ الْأَجْرَ وَتَسْتَكْمِلَ الْمَزِيدَ  

[Machine] "It is only the initiative."  

«إِنَّمَا هِيَ الْمُبَادَرَةُ»  

[Machine] Muhammad bin Al-Nadr disappeared from me for forty days, and I did not see him sleeping, neither during the night nor during the day.  

«اخْتَفَى عِنْدِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا فَمَا رَأَيْتُهُ نَائِمًا؛ لَيْلًا وَلَا نِهَارًا»  

[Machine] "That my night is for his night"  

أَنَّ لَيْلَتِي بِلَيْلَتِهِ»  

[Machine] I read in some books that if people knew what I know about you, they would abandon you, but I will forgive you as long as you do not associate partners with me.  

قَرَأْتُ فِي بَعْضِ الْكُتُبِ ابْنَ آدَمَ لَوْ يَعْلَمُ النَّاسُ مِنْكَ مَا أَعْلَمُ لَنَبَذُوكَ وَلَكِنْ سَأَغْفِرُ لَكَ؛ مَا لَمْ تُشْرِكْ بِي  

[Machine] "Allah (ﷻ) revealed to Musa ﷺ , 'Indeed, your people have adorned their mosques, destroyed their hearts, and fattened themselves, just as pigs are fattened for the day of slaughter. And I have looked at them and turned them away; I will neither respond to them nor grant them their request.'"  

أَنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ أَوْحَى إِلَى مُوسَى ﷺ «إِنَّ قَوْمَكَ زَيَّنُوا مَسَاجِدَهُمْ وَأَخْرَبُوا قُلُوبَهُمْ وَتَسَمَّنُوا؛ كَمَا تُسَمَّنُ الْخَنَازِيرُ لِيَوْمِ ذَبْحِهَا وَإِنِّي نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِمْ فَقَلَبْتُهُمْ؛ فَلَا أَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُمْ وَلَا أُعْطِيهِمْ مَسْأَلَتَهُمْ»  

[Machine] It is said that when the actions of a nation are bad, they beautify their mosques.  

يُقَالُ إِذَا سَاءَ عَمَلُ أُمَّةٍ زَيَّنُوا مَسَاجِدَهُمْ  

[Machine] Musa ﷺ asked for a gathering, so Allah revealed to him: "Look for the person whom you love to be your companion among the people, then be in the company of that person."  

سَأَلَ مُوسَى ﷺ جِمَاعًا فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ انْظُرِ الَّذِي تُحِبُّ يُصَاحِبُكَ بِهِ النَّاسُ فَصَاحِبْ بِهِ النَّاسَ  

[Machine] That when you, O Moses, invoke Me, make your tongue behind your heart and be humble and tranquil in my remembrance. And when you stand before me, stand in the position of the humble and lowly. And humiliate yourself, as it is more worthy of being humiliated. And call upon Me with a heart full of fear and a tongue full of truth.  

أَنْ يَا مُوسَى إِذَا دَعَوْتَنِي فَاجْعَلْ لِسَانَكَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ قَلْبِكَ وَكُنْ عِنْدَ ذِكْرِي خَاشِعًا مُطْمَئِنًّا وَإِذَا قُمْتَ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ فَقُمْ مَقَامَ الْحَقِيرِ الذَّلِيلِ وَذُمَّ نَفْسَكَ؛ فَهِيَ أَوْلَى بِالذَّمِّ وَنَاجِنِي حِينَ تُنَاجِينِي بِقَلْبٍ وَجِلٍ وَلِسَانٍ صَادِقٍ»  

[Machine] And Moses advised his people, but a man from among them tore his shirt. So it was said to Moses, "Tell the owner of the shirt not to tear his shirt, so that he may explain to me his situation."  

وَعَظَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَوْمَهُ فَشَقَّ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ قَمِيصَهُ فَقِيلَ لِمُوسَى قُلْ لِصَاحِبِ الْقَمِيصِ لَا يَشُقُّ قَمِيصَهُ لِيَشْرَحَ لِي عَنْ قَلْبِهِ  

[Machine] Moses, ﷺ , said, "O Lord, who among your servants do you love the most?" He replied, "Those who remember Me the most." Moses said, "O Lord, who among your servants is the richest?" He replied, "The one who is content with what I have given him." Moses said, "O Lord, who among your servants is the wisest?" He replied, "The one who governs himself as he governs over others."  

قَالَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَا رَبِّ أَيُّ عِبَادِكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لِي ذِكْرًا قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَيُّ عِبَادِكَ أَغْنَى؟ قَالَ الرَّاضِي بِمَا أَعْطَيْتُهُ قَالَ رَبِّ أَيُّ عِبَادِكَ أَحْكَمُ؟ قَالَ الَّذِي يَحْكُمُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بِمَا يَحْكُمُ عَلَى النَّاسِ  

[Machine] "Hajj to the Kaaba has been performed by seventy prophets, including Moses son of Imran, ﷺ , who wore two white garments and performed the sacred rituals while the mountains echoed his call."  

«حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ سَبْعُونَ نَبِيًّا؛ مِنْهُمْ مُوسَى بْنُ عِمْرَانَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْهِ عَبَاءَتَانِ قَطَوَانِيَّتَانِ فَكَانَ يُلَبِّي وَالْجِبَالُ تُجَاوِبُهُ»  

[Machine] "Solomon said to the people, 'Go back, for you have been affected by an invitation that is not yours.'"  

سُلَيْمَانُ لِلنَّاسِ ارْجِعُوا فَقَدْ سُقِيتُمْ بِدَعْوَةِ غَيْرِكُمْ  

[Machine] His companions were waiting for him, and when he came out they said, "Why did it take you so long, O Prince?" He said, "Indeed, I will tell you about a brother of yours who came before you; and he is Prophet Musa (Moses), ﷺ ." He said, "O Lord, tell me about the most beloved person to You." He said, "Why do you ask?" He said, "So that I may love him with Your love." He said, "There is a slave in the farthest part of the earth, or in the corner of the earth, who heard of Me but does not know Me. If he is afflicted with a calamity, it is as if it has touched Me, and if he is pricked with a thorn, it is as if it has pricked Me. He does not love Me for himself but loves Me for the sake of Me. This is the most beloved of My creation to Me." He said, "O Lord, You created creations whom You will enter into the Fire and they will be punished. So why did You create them?" Allah revealed to him, "All of them are My creation, so enter them in My creation. Plant a plant and water it, then say to it, 'Grow,' and it will grow. Then say to it, 'Give,' and it will give. Then say to it, 'Stand up,' and it will stand up, or as Allah wills." So, Musa planted a plant, and it grew and bore fruit, and he asked, "What did your plant do, O Musa?" He said, "I completed it and raised it." He asked, "Did you leave anything of it?" He said, "There is nothing good in it or nothing useful for me." He said, "That is how I am; I do not punish except those who have no good in them or those who have no use for Me."  

أَنَّ أَصْحَابَهُ كَانُوا يَنْتَظِرُونَهُ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ قَالُوا مَا أَبْطَأَكَ عَنْهَا أَيُّهَا الْأَمِيرُ قَالَ أَمَا إِنِّي سَوْفَ أُحَدِّثُكُمْ أَنَّ أَخًا لَكُمْ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ؛ وَهُوَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ حَدِّثْنِي بِأَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ وَلِمَ؟ قَالَ لِأُحِبَّهُ بِحُبِّكَ إِيَّاهُ قَالَ عَبْدٌ فِي أَقْصَى الْأَرْضِ أَوْ فِي طَرَفِ الْأَرْضِ سَمِعَ بِهِ عَبْدٌ آخَرُ فِي أَقْصَى الْأَرْضِ أَوْ فِي طَرَفِ الْأَرْضِ لَا يَعْرِفُهُ فَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ مُصِيبَةٌ فَكَأَنَّمَا أَصَابَتْهُ وَإِنْ شَاكَتْهُ شَوْكَةٌ فَكَأَنَّمَا شَاكَتْهُ لَا يُحِبُّهُ إِلَّا لِي فَذَلِكَ أَحَبُّ خَلْقِي إِلَيَّ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ خَلَقْتَ خَلْقًا تُدْخِلُهُمُ النَّارَ وَتُعَذِّبُهُمْ؟ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ ﷻ إِلَيْهِ كُلُّهُمْ خَلْقِي ثُمَّ قَالَ ازْرَعْ زَرْعًا فَزَرَعَهُ فَقَالَ اسْقِهِ فَسَقَاهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ قُمْ عَلَيْهِ فَقَامَ عَلَيْهِ أَوْ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَحَصَدَهُ وَرَفَعَهُ فَقَالَ مَا فَعَلَ زَرْعُكَ يَا مُوسَى؟ قَالَ فَرَغْتَ مِنْهُ وَرَفَعْتَهُ؟ قَالَ مَا تَرَكْتَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ مَا لَا خَيْرَ فِيهِ أَوْ مَا لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِيهِ قَالَ كَذَلِكَ أَنَا؛ لَا أُعَذِّبُ إِلَّا مَنْ لَا خَيْرَ فِيهِ أَوْ مَا لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِيهِ  

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah, Moses ﷺ , passed by a man who was supplicating and beseeching. Moses said, "O Lord, have mercy on him." So, Allah revealed to him, "If he had supplicated to Me until his strength was exhausted, I would not have answered him until I looked into my rights upon him."  

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ يَدْعُو وَيَتَضَرَّعُ فَقَالَ يَا رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ لَوْ دَعَانِي حَتَّى تَنْقَطِعَ قُوَاهُ مَا اسْتَجَبْتُ لَهُ؛ حَتَّى يَنْظُرَ فِي حَقِّي عَلَيْهِ  

[Machine] That the Prophet David would return to his companions and they would only think he was sick, but he was only different by the permission of Allah.  

أَنَّ دَاوُدَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَعُودُ أَصْحَابَهُ وَمَا يَظُنُونَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ مَرِيضٌ وَمَا كَانَ بِهِ إِلَّا الْفَرَقُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ﷻ  

[Machine] "To surpass them, break my leg that follows them; so that I may sit and remember you with them."  

أَنْ أُجَاوِزَهُمْ فَاكْسِرْ رِجْلِي الَّتِي تَلِيهِمْ؛ حَتَّى أَجْلِسَ فَأَذْكُرَكَ مَعَهُمْ  

[Machine] I forgot his name. Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ Dawud said, "O Allah, do not make me an oppressor, for then you would decree my livelihood and deny Your blessings."  

نَسِيتُ اسْمَهُ إِنَّ دَاوُدَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي مُصَحَّحًا فَتَّانًا؛ فَأُبْطِرَ مَعِيشَتِي وَأَكْفُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ  

[Machine] David, the prophet of Allah, used to prolong the prayer, then he would bow, then raise his head and say, "To You, O inhabitant of the heavens, I have lifted my head. The slaves look to their masters. O dweller of the heavens."  

كَانَ دَاوُدُ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ يُطِيلُ الصَّلَاةَ ثُمَّ يَرْكَعُ ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ إِلَيْكَ رَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي يَا عَامِرَ السَّمَاءِ تَنْظُرُ الْعَبِيدُ إِلَى أَرْبَابِهَا يَا سَاكِنَ السَّمَاءِ  

[Machine] I heard Al-Hasan say, "The Prophet Dawud ﷺ used to say, 'O Allah, neither afflict me with a debilitating illness nor grant me such good health that I forget You, but choose something in between.'"  

سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَقُولُ كَانَ دَاوُدُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ لَا مَرَضًا يُضْنِينِي وَلَا صِحَّةً تُنْسِينِي وَلَكِنْ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ»  

[Machine] I heard Al-Hasan saying: Whenever a calamity would befall Prophet Ayyub, ﷺ , he would say, "O Allah, you have taken away and you have given, and whatever remains with me, I thank you for the goodness of your trials."  

سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَقُولُ كَانَ أَيُّوبُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ كُلَّمَا أَصَابَتْهُ مُصِيبَةٌ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ أَخَذْتَ وَأَنْتَ أَعْطَيْتَ مَهْمَا تُبْقِي نَفْسِي أَحْمَدُكَ عَلَى حُسْنِ بَلَائِكَ»
