The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade mukhabarah. I asked: What is mukhabarah ? He replied: That you have the land (for cultivation) for half, a third, or a quarter (of the produce).
نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمُخَابَرَةِ قُلْتُ وَمَا الْمُخَابَرَةُ قَالَ أَنْ تَأْخُذَ الأَرْضَ بِنِصْفٍ أَوْ ثُلُثٍ أَوْ رُبُعٍ
[Machine] Zaid ibn Thabit informed us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from espionage. I asked, "What is espionage?" He replied, "It is to hire land for half, a third, or a quarter of its worth."
زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمُخَابَرَةِ قُلْتُ وَمَا الْمُخَابَرَةُ؟ قَالَ تُأَجَّرُ الْأَرْضَ بِنِصْفٍ أَوْ بِثُلُثٍأَوْ بِرُبُعٍ
[Machine] Zaid ibn Thabit narrated that the Messenger of Allah prohibited us from spying. He was asked, "What is spying?" He replied, "It is taking someone else's land by half, or a third, or a fourth, or similar to these fractions."
