[Machine] "We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he did not fast. And we went out with Abu Bakr and he did not fast. And we went out with Umar and he did not fast. And we went out with Uthman and he did not fast. And I do not fast it nor do I command you or forbid you. If you wish, fast it, and if you wish, do not fast it."  

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ وَأَنَا لَا أَصُومُهُ وَلَا آمُرُكَ وَلَا أَنْهَاكَ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَلَا تَصُمْهُ  

"Ibn Umar was asked about fasting (the Day of) Arafah (at Arafat). He said: 'I performed Hajj with the Prophet, and he did not fast it, and with Abu Bakr, and he did not fast it, and with Umar, and he did not fast it, and with Uthman, and he did not fast it. I do no fast it, nor order it nor forbid it." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 751)

حَجَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ «فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ وَمَعَ عُمَرَ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ وَأَنَا لَا أَصُومُهُ وَلَا آمُرُكَ وَلَا أَنْهَاكَ غَيْرَ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَلَا تَصُمْ»  

" عَنْ أَبِى نُجَيْحٍ أنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَل ابن عُمَرَ عَنْ صَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ فَقَالَ: حَجَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ، وَمَعَ أَبِى بَكْرٍ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ، وَمَعَ عُمَرَ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ، وَمَعَ عُثْمَانَ فَلَمْ يَصُمْهُ، وَأَنَا لاَ أَصُومُهُ، وَلاَ آمُرُكَ وَلاَ أَنْهَاكَ عَنْهُ".
