Allah has cursed those women who practise tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those who remove their face hairs, and those who create a space between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, and such women as change the features created by Allah. Why then should I not curse those whom the Prophet ﷺ has cursed? And that is in Allah's Book. i.e. His Saying: 'And what the Apostle gives you take it and what he forbids you abstain (from it).' (59.7)  

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى مَالِي لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهْوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ}  

Allah has cursed those women who practise tattooing or get it done for themselves, and those who remove hair from their faces, and those who create spaces between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, such ladies as change the features created by Allah. Why then shall I not curse those whom Messenger of Allah ﷺ has cursed and who are cursed in Allah's Book too?  

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ مَا لِي لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهْوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ  

Allah has cursed those women who practise tattooing and those who get it done for themselves, and those who remove hair from their faces, and those who artificially create spaces between their teeth to look beautiful, such women as alter the features created by Allah. Why should I not then curse those whom Messenger of Allah ﷺ has cursed and that is in Allah's Book?  

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ مَا لِي لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهْوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ  

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] cursed the women who do tattoos and the women who have them done, Al-Mutanammisat, and the women who have their teeth separated for the sake of beauty, those who change (the creation of Allah.)"  

لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُوتَشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ

لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُؤْتَشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ  

"I heard the Messenger of Allah [SAW] cursing Al-Mutanammisat, women who have their teeth separated, and women who have tattoos done, those who change the creation of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5107)   

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَعَنَ اللهُ الْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ وَالْمُتَوَشِّمَاتِ اللَّائِي يُغَيِّرْنَ خَلْقَ اللهِ»  

"May Allah curse Al-Mutanammisat and who have their teeth separated. Shall I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah [SAW] cursed?" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5252)  

«§لَعَنَ اللهُ الْمُؤْتَشِمَاتُ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ أَلَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟»  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed women who tattoo themselves, pluck their eyebrows, artificially lengthen their teeth, and those who change the creation of Allah."  

«لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ»  

[Machine] The translation of the passage is: "May God curse those who tattoo and those who seek tattoos, those who pluck eyebrows, and those who create gaps between their teeth for beauty, altering the creation of God."  

"لَعَنَ اللهُ الوَاشِمَاتِ والْمُسْتَوشِمَاتِ والمُتنَمِّصَاتِ، وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ للحُسْن، الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلقَ الله".  

ʿAbdullah (bin Masud) said. "Allah curses those ladies who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those ladies who remove the hair from their faces and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth in order to look more beautiful whereby they change Allah's creation." His saying reached a lady from Bani Asd called Um Yaqub who came (to ʿAbdullah) and said, "I have come to know that you have cursed such-and-such (ladies)?" He replied, "Why should I not curse these whom Messenger of Allah ﷺ has cursed and who are (cursed) in Allah's Book!" Um Yaqub said, "I have read the whole Qur'an, but I did not find in it what you say." He said, "Verily, if you have read it (i.e. the Qur'an), you have found it. Didn't you read: 'And whatsoever the Apostle gives you take it and whatsoever he forbids you, you abstain (from it). (59.7) She replied, "Yes, I did," He said, "Verily, Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade such things." "She said, "But I see your wife doing these things?" He said, "Go and watch her." She went and watched her but could not see anything in support of her statement. On that he said, "If my wife was as you thought, I would not keep her in my company."  

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُوتَشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ فَجَاءَتْ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ لَعَنْتَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ فَقَالَ وَمَا لِي لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَمَنْ هُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَتْ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ اللَّوْحَيْنِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُ فِيهِ مَا تَقُولُ قَالَ لَئِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ أَمَا قَرَأْتِ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} قَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ نَهَى عَنْهُ قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي أَرَى أَهْلَكَ يَفْعَلُونَهُ قَالَ فَاذْهَبِي فَانْظُرِي فَذَهَبَتْ فَنَظَرَتْ فَلَمْ تَرَ مِنْ حَاجَتِهَا شَيْئًا فَقَالَ لَوْ كَانَتْ كَذَلِكَ مَا جَامَعْتُها  

What is this news that has reached me from you that you curse those women who tattooed and those women who have themselves tattooed, the women who pluck hair from their faces and who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created? Thereupon 'Abdullah said: Should I not curse one upon whom Messenger of Allah ﷺ has invoked curse and that is in the Book also. Thereupon that woman said: I read the Qur'an from cover to cover, but I did not find that in it. whereupon he said: If you had read (thoroughly) you would have definitely found this in that (as) Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has said:" What Messenger of Allah brings for you accept that and what he has forbidden you, refrain from that." That woman said: I find this thing in your wife even now. Thereupon he said: Go and see her. She reported: I went to the wife of 'Abdullah but found nothing of this sort in her. She came back to him and said: I have not seen anything. whereupon he said: Had there been anything like it in her, I would have never slept with her in the bed.  

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالنَّامِصَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ وَكَانَتْ تَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ فَأَتَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ مَا حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ أَنَّكَ لَعَنْتَ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَمَا لِيَ لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ لَوْحَىِ الْمُصْحَفِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ فَقَالَ لَئِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ { وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} فَقَالَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ فَإِنِّي أَرَى شَيْئًا مِنْ هَذَا عَلَى امْرَأَتِكَ الآنَ قَالَ اذْهَبِي فَانْظُرِي قَالَ فَدَخَلَتْ عَلَى امْرَأَةِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَلَمْ تَرَ شَيْئًا فَجَاءَتْ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ أَمَا لَوْ كَانَ ذَلِكِ لَمْ نُجَامِعْهَا  

Allah has cursed the woman who tattoo and the women who have themselves tattooed, the women who add false hair (according to the version of Muhammad b. Isa) and the women who pluck hairs from their faces (according to the version on 'Uthman). The agreed version then goes: The women who spaces between their teeth for beauty, changing what Allah has created. When a woman of Banu Asad called Umm Ya'qub, who read the Qur'an (according to the version of 'Uthman) heard it, she came to him (according to the agreed version) and said: I have heard that you have cursed the women who tattoo, those have themselves tattooed, those who add false hair (according to the version of Muhammad), those pluck hairs from their faces, and those who make spaces between their teeth (according to the agreed version), for changing what Allah has created (according to the version of 'Uthman). He said: Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had cursed and those who were mentioned in Allah's Book ? She said: I have read it from cover to cover and have not found in it. He said: I swear by Allah, if you read it, you would have found it. He then read: What the Apostle has brought you accept, and what he has forbidden refrain from it. She said: I find some of these thing in you wife. He said: Enter (the house) and see. She said: I then entered (the house) and came out. He asked: What did you see ? She said: I did not see (anything). He said: Had it been so, she would have not have been with us. This is according to the version of 'Uthman.  

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْوَاصِلاَتِ وَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ ثُمَّ اتَّفَقَا وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ ﷻ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ زَادَ عُثْمَانُ كَانَتْ تَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ اتَّفَقَا فَأَتَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ أَنَّكَ لَعَنْتَ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْوَاصِلاَتِ وَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ ثُمَّ اتَّفَقَا وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ قَالَ عُثْمَانُ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى فَقَالَ وَمَا لِي لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى قَالَتْ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ لَوْحَىِ الْمُصْحَفِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ فَقَالَ وَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ { وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا } قَالَتْ إِنِّي أَرَى بَعْضَ هَذَا عَلَى امْرَأَتِكَ قَالَ فَادْخُلِي فَانْظُرِي فَدَخَلَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَتْ فَقَالَ مَا رَأَيْتِ وَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ فَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ فَقَالَ لَوْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ مَا كَانَتْ مَعَنَا  

"The Messenger of Allah cursed the woman who does tattoos and the one who has them done, and those who pluck their eyebrows and file their teeth for the purpose of beautification, and those who change the creation of Allah." News of that reached a woman of Banu Asad who was called Umm Ya'qub. She came to him and said: "I have heard that you said such and such." He said: 'Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah cursed ? And it is in the Book of Allah.'' She said: "I read what is between its two covers 'and I have not found that." He said: "If you read it properly you would have found it. Have you not read the words: 'And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it).'?" She said: "Of course." He said: 'The Messenger of Allah forbade that." She said: 'I think that your wife does it.' He said: " Go and look." So she went and looked and she did not see what she wanted. She said: "I have not seen anything!’ 'Abdullah said: "If she was as you say, I would not have kept her with me. "  

لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ فَجَاءَتْ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ أَنَّكَ قُلْتَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ قَالَ وَمَالِي لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ إِنِّي لأَقْرَأُ مَا بَيْنَ لَوْحَيْهِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ قَالَ إِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِهِ فَقَدْ وَجَدْتِهِ أَمَا قَرَأْتِ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} قَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَدْ نَهَى عَنْهُ قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي لأَظُنُّ أَهْلَكَ يَفْعَلُونَ قَالَ اذْهَبِي فَانْظُرِي فَذَهَبَتْ فَنَظَرَتْ فَلَمْ تَرَ مِنْ حَاجَتِهَا شَيْئًا قَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ لَوْ كَانَتْ كَمَا تَقُولِينَ مَا جَامَعَتْنَا  

[Machine] "May Allah curse the women who get tattoos, those who get themselves tattooed, those who pluck their eyebrows, and those who widen gaps between their teeth for beauty. This reached a woman from the tribe of Banu Asad, known as Umm Ya'qub, and she came to him and said, 'I have read what is between the two tablets and I found what you said.' He said, 'So you found: "Whatever the Messenger has given you, take it, and whatever he has forbidden you, abstain from it" [Al-Hashr: 7].' She said, 'Indeed, I see it among some of my people.' He said, 'Go and look.' She went and looked, then returned and said, 'I did not see anything.' Abdullah said, 'If she had something, we would have gathered her.'"  

لَعَنَ اللهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَوَشِّمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ فَأَتَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ اللَّوْحَيْنِمَا وَجَدْتُ مَا قُلْتَ قَالَ مَا وَجَدْتِ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} [الحشر 7] فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي لَأُرَاهُ فِي بَعْضِ أَهْلِكَ؟ قَالَ اذْهَبِي فَانْظُرِي قَالَ فَذَهَبَتْ فَنَظَرَتْ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ لَوْ كَانَ لَهَا مَا جَامَعْنَاهَا  

"The Messenger of Allah cursed the woman who does tattoos and the one who has them done, and those who pluck their eyebrows and file their teeth for the purpose of beautification, and those who change the creation of Allah." لَعَنَ اللهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَوَشِّمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ قَالَ فَبَلَغَ امْرَأَةً فِي الْبَيْتِ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ فَجَاءَتْ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ قُلْتَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ؟ فَقَالَ مَا لِي لَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ ﷻ؟ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي لَأَقْرَأُ مَا بَيْنَ لَوْحَيْهِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ فَقَالَ إِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِيهِ فَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ أَمَا قَرَأْتِ {ومَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} [الحشر 7] قَالَتْبَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْهُ قَالَتْ إِنِّي لَأَظُنُّ أَهْلَكَ يَفْعَلُونَ قَالَ اذْهَبِي فَانْظُرِي فَنَظَرَتْ فَلَمْ تَرَ مِنْ حَاجَتِهَا شَيْئًا فَجَاءَتْ فَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا قَالَ لَوْ كَانَتْ كَذَلِكَ لَمْ تُجَامِعْنَا قَالَ وَسَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ يُحَدِّثُهُ عَنْ أُمِّ يَعْقُوبَ سَمِعَهُ مِنْهَا فَاخْتَرْتُ حَدِيثَ مَنْصُورٍ  

[Machine] A woman came to Ibn Mas'ud and said, "I have been informed that you prohibit using the waseelah (a specific type of connected necklace). He replied, "Yes." She asked, "Is there anything you find in the Book of Allah or heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding this?" He said, "I find it in the Book of Allah and also heard it from the Messenger of Allah." She said, "By Allah, I have thoroughly searched between the pages of the Qur'an and did not find what you say." He asked, "Did you find in it the verse: {Whatever the Messenger has given you, take; and what he has forbidden you, refrain from} [Surah Al-Hashr 7]?" She replied, "Yes, I did." He said, "Well, I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibiting the use of al-namisah (a specific form of tattooing), al-washirah (a form of tattooing that widens the gap between eye lashes), al-wasilah (the mentioned necklace) and al-washimah (any form of tattooing) except in the case of a medical need." The woman asked, "Perhaps it is permitted for some of your women?" He said to her, "Enter." So she entered and then left and said, "I did not see any harm in it." He replied, "Then you have not preserved the will of the righteous servant, {And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have prohibited you} [Surah Hud 88]."  

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً جَاءَتْ إِلَى ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَتْ أُنْبِئْتُ أَنَّكَ تَنْهَى عَنِ الْوَاصِلَةِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَقَالَتْ أَشَيْءٌ تَجِدُهُ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ أَمْ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ فَقَالَ أَجِدُهُ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ وَعَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ فَقَالَتْ وَاللهِ لَقَدْ تَصَفَّحْتُ مَا بَيْنَ دَفَّتَيِ الْمُصْحَفِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُ فِيهِ الَّذِي تَقُولُ قَالَ فَهَلْ وَجَدْتِ فِيهِ {مَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} [الحشر 7] قَالَتْ نَعَمْقَالَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ النَّامِصَةِ وَالْوَاشِرَةِ وَالْوَاصِلَةِ وَالْوَاشِمَةِ إِلَّا مِنْ دَاءٍ قَالَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ فَلَعَلَّهُ فِي بَعْضِ نِسَائِكَ؟ قَالَ لَهَا ادْخُلِي فَدَخَلَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَتْ فَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ بَأْسًا قَالَ مَا حَفِظْتُ إِذًا وَصِيَّةَ الْعَبْدِ الصَّالِحِ {وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُخَالِفَكُمْ إِلَى مَا أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ} [هود 88]  

ʿAbdullah (bin Masud) said. "Allah curses those ladies who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those ladies who remove the hair from their faces and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth in order to look more beautiful whereby they change Allah's creation." His saying reached a lady from Bani Asd called Um Yaqub who came (to ʿAbdullah) and said, "I have come to know that you have cursed such-and-such (ladies)?" He replied, "Why should I not curse these whom Messenger of Allah ﷺ has cursed and who are (cursed) in Allah's Book!" Um Yaqub said, "I have read the whole Qur'an, but I did not find in it what you say." He said, "Verily, if you have read it (i.e. the Qur'an), you have found it. Didn't you read: 'And whatsoever the Apostle gives you take it and whatsoever he forbids you, you abstain (from it). (59.7) She replied, "Yes, I did," He said, "Verily, Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade such things." "She said, "But I see your wife doing these things?" He said, "Go and watch her." She went and watched her but could not see anything in support of her statement. On that he said, "If my wife was as you thought, I would not keep her in my company." «لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ» فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ فَجَاءَتْ فَقَالَتْ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ لَعَنْتَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ؟ فَقَالَ وَمَا لِي لَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ؟ فَقَالَتْ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ اللَّوْحَيْنِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُ فِيهِ مَا تَقُولُ قَالَ لَئِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ أَمَا قَرَأْتِ {مَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ} [الحشر 7]؟ فَقَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ نَهَى عَنْهُ فَقَالَتْ فَإِنِّي أَرَى أَهْلَكَ يَفْعَلُونَهُ؟ قَالَ فَادْخُلِي فَانْظُرِي فَدَخَلَتْ فَنَظَرَتْ فَلَمْ تَرَ مِنْ حَاجَتِهَا شَيْئًا فَقَالَ لَوْ كَانَتْ كَذَلِكِ مَا جَامَعْتُهَا  

[Machine] "It has reached me that you say the curse upon the tattooed woman, the one who tattoos, the one who plucks facial hair, and the one who alters the creation of Allah. I have read what is between the two tablets, but I did not find what you say." He said, "Yes, I found it. However, you do not know." She asked, "Where is it?" He replied, "Have you not read, 'Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it'?" She said, "Yes." He said, "That is it." She said, "Indeed, I see some of that on your family." He said, "Enter and look." So she entered and looked but she did not see anything. Abdullah said to her, "Did you see anything?" She replied, "No." Abdullah said, "If you had seen anything from that, would you have followed me?"  

إِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ تَقُولُ لُعِنَتِ الْوَاشِمَةُ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةُ وَالنَّامِصَةُ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَةُ وَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ اللَّوْحَيْنِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُ مَا تَقُولُ قَالَ بَلَى وَجَدْتِ وَلَكِنَّكِ لَا تَعْلَمِينَ قَالَتْ وَأَيْنَ هُوَ؟ قَالَ أَمَا قَرَأْتِ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} قَالَتْ بَلَى قَالَ هُوَ ذَاكَ قَالَتْ أَمَا إِنِّي لَأَرَى عَلَى أَهْلِكَ بَعْضَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَادْخُلِي فَانْظُرِي فَدَخَلَتْ فَنَظَرَتْ فَلَمْ تَرَ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ لَهَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ هَلْ رَأَيْتِ شَيْئًا؟ قَالَتْ لَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَمَا إِنَّكِ لَوْ رَأَيْتِ شَيْئًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ مَا صَحِبْنَنِي»  

What is this news that has reached me from you that you curse those women who tattooed and those women who have themselves tattooed, the women who pluck hair from their faces and who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created? Thereupon 'Abdullah said: Should I not curse one upon whom Messenger of Allah ﷺ has invoked curse and that is in the Book also. Thereupon that woman said: I read the Qur'an from cover to cover, but I did not find that in it. whereupon he said: If you had read (thoroughly) you would have definitely found this in that (as) Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has said:" What Messenger of Allah brings for you accept that and what he has forbidden you, refrain from that." That woman said: I find this thing in your wife even now. Thereupon he said: Go and see her. She reported: I went to the wife of 'Abdullah but found nothing of this sort in her. She came back to him and said: I have not seen anything. whereupon he said: Had there been anything like it in her, I would have never slept with her in the bed. [Machine] "May Allah curse those who alter the creation of Allah, such as those who pluck their eyebrows, those who tattoo themselves, and those who file their teeth. A woman from the tribe of Banu Assad, known as Umm al-Mustawrid, came to him and said, 'O Abu Abdullah, I have heard that you have cursed those who pluck their eyebrows, tattoo themselves, and file their teeth.' He said, 'Should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed, and it is in the Book of Allah?' She said, 'I have read what is between the two covers [of the Quran], and I did not find it in there.' He said, 'If you had indeed read what is between the two covers [of the Quran], you would have found it in the Book of Allah, where it says, "Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you from, refrain from it."' She said, 'By Allah, I thought your family was doing it.' He said, 'Come in and have a look. If they are doing it, they will not spend the night with me.' So she went in, looked around, then came out saying, 'I did not see anything, I did not see anything.'"  

«لَعَنَ اللهُ الْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَوَحِّشَاتِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ» فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ فَقَالَتْ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ لَعَنْتَ الْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَوَشِّمَاتِ فَقَالَ أَلَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَفِي كِتَابِ اللهِ قَالَتْ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ اللَّوْحَيْنِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ فِيهِ قَالَ لَئِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِ مَا بَيْنَ اللَّوْحَيْنِ إِنَّهُ لَفِي كِتَابِ اللهِ {مَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} قَالَتْ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَحْسِبُ أَهْلَكَ يَصْنَعُونَهُ قَالَ «فَادْخُلِي فَانْظُرِي فَإِنْ كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ لَا يَبِيتُونَ عِنْدِي لَيْلَةً» فَدَخَلَتْ فَنَظَرَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَتْ وَهِي تَقُولُ مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا  

"The Messenger of Allah cursed the woman who does tattoos and the one who has them done, and those who pluck their eyebrows and file their teeth for the purpose of beautification, and those who change the creation of Allah." News of that reached a woman of Banu Asad who was called Umm Ya'qub. She came to him and said: "I have heard that you said such and such." He said: 'Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah cursed ? And it is in the Book of Allah.'' She said: "I read what is between its two covers 'and I have not found that." He said: "If you read it properly you would have found it. Have you not read the words: 'And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it).'?" She said: "Of course." He said: 'The Messenger of Allah forbade that." She said: 'I think that your wife does it.' He said: " Go and look." So she went and looked and she did not see what she wanted. She said: "I have not seen anything!’ 'Abdullah said: "If she was as you say, I would not have kept her with me. " (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1989)

لَعَنَ اللهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ وَكَانَتْ تَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ فَأَتَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ مَا حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ أَنَّكَ لَعَنْتَ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَمَا لِي لَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ فَقَالَتْ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ لَوْحَيِ الْمُصْحَفِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ فَقَالَ لَئِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ قَالَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} [الحشر 7] قَالَتْ فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا مِنْ هَذَا عَلَى امْرَأَتِكَ قَالَ فَاذْهَبِي فَانْظُرِي فَنَظَرَتْ فَلَمْ تَرَ شَيْئًا فَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ أَمَا لَوْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ لَمْ تُجَامِعْنَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ إِسْحَاقَ  

ʿAbdullah cursed those women who practiced tattooing and those who removed hair from their faces and those who created spaces between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, such ladies as changed what Allah has created. Um Ya'qub said, "What is that?" ʿAbdullah said, "Why should I not curse those who were cursed by Messenger of Allah ﷺ and are referred to in Allah's Book?" She said to him "By Allah, I have read the whole Qur'an but I have not found such a thing. ʿAbdullah said, "By Allah, if you had read it (carefully) you would have found it. (Allah says:) 'And what the Apostle gives you take it and what he forbids you abstain (from it).' (59.7)  

لَعَنَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ مَا هَذَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَمَا لِيَ لاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَفِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ اللَّوْحَيْنِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا}  

"I heard 'Aishah say: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade the woman who does tattoos and the woman who has that done, the woman who affixes hair extensions and the woman who has that done, An-Namisah (the one who does the plucking) and Al-Mutanammisah (the one who has it done).'"  

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْوَاشِمَةِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةِ وَالْوَاصِلَةِ وَالْمُسْتَوْصِلَةِ وَالنَّامِصَةِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَةِ  

The woman who supplies fake hair and the one who asks for it, the woman who pulls out hair for other people and the woman who depilates herself, the woman who tattoos and the one who has it done when there is no disease to justify it have been cursed. Abu Dawud said: Wasilah means the woman who adds false hair to the hair of women. Mustawsilah means the one who asks for adding the hair to her hair. namisah means a woman who plucks hair from the brow until she makes it thin; mutanammisah means the woman who depilates herself ; washimah is a woman who tattoos in the face with antimony or ink ; mustawshimah is a woman with whom it is done.  

لُعِنَتِ الْوَاصِلَةُ وَالْمُسْتَوْصِلَةُ وَالنَّامِصَةُ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَةُ وَالْوَاشِمَةُ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةُ مِنْ غَيْرِ دَاءٍ  

"I heard 'Aishah say: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade the woman who does tattoos and the woman who has that done, the woman who affixes hair extensions and the woman who has that done, An-Namisah (the one who does the plucking) and Al-Mutanammisah (the one who has it done).'" «نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْوَاشِمَةِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةِ وَالْوَاصِلَةِ وَالْمُسْتَوْصِلَةِ وَالنَّامِصَةِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَةِ [340] الْمُؤتَشِمَاتِ»  

"May Allah curse Al-Mutanammisat and who have their teeth separated. Shall I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah [SAW] cursed?"  

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ أَلاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ  

"Abdullah used to say: 'May Allah curse the women who have tattoos done and Al-Mutanammisat, and have the women who have their teeth separated. Should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah [SAW] cursed?'"  

كَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْمُتَوَشِّمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ أَلاَ أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ  

"May Allah curse Al-Mutanammisat and who have their teeth separated. Shall I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah [SAW] cursed?" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5252)  

«لَعَنَ اللهُ الْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ أَلَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟»  

"May Allah curse Al-Mutanammisat and their teeth separated, who have tattoos done, changing the creation of Allah." A woman came to him and said: "Are you the one who said such-and-such?" He said: "Why should I not say what the Messenger of Allah [SAW] said?"  

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ وَالْمُتَوَشِّمَاتِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَقَالَتْ أَنْتَ الَّذِي تَقُولُ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ وَمَا لِيَ لاَ أَقُولُ مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ  

"May Allah curse Al-Mutanammisat and their teeth separated, who have tattoos done, changing the creation of Allah." A woman came to him and said: "Are you the one who said such-and-such?" He said: "Why should I not say what the Messenger of Allah [SAW] said?" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5254)   

«لَعَنَ اللهُ الْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ وَالْمُؤْتَشِمَاتِ وَالْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ» فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَقَالَتْ «أَنْتَ الَّذِي تَقُولُ كَذَا وَكَذَا» فَقَالَ وَمَا لِي لَا أَقُولُ مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَحَدِيثُ مَنْصُورٍ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ  

that the Prophet ﷺ cursed the women who practice tattooing and those who seek to be tattooed, the women who remove hair from their faces seeking beautification by changing the creation of Allah.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَعَنَ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ مُبْتَغِيَاتٍ لِلْحُسْنِ مُغَيِّرَاتٍ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الأَئِمَّةِ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ  

"I heard 'Aishah say: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade the woman who does tattoos and the woman who has that done, the woman who affixes hair extensions and the woman who has that done, An-Namisah (the one who does the plucking) and Al-Mutanammisah (the one who has it done).'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5101)   

كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنِ الْوَاشِمَةِ وَالْوَاصِلَةِ وَالْمُتَوَاصِلَةِ وَالنَّامِصَةِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَةِ  

أَنَّهَا سُئِلَتْ عَنِ الوَاشِمَةِ، وَالْمُسْتوشِمَةِ (*)، وَالوَاصِلَةِ وَالموَصْولَةِ (* *)، وَالنَّامِصَةِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَةِ (* * *)؟ فَقَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنْ ذَلِكَ  

[Machine] "May Allah curse the tattooed women, the pluckers (of eyebrows), the mutilators, and those who modify the creation of Allah. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Will I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah has cursed?' A woman from the tribe of Bani Asad said, 'I think he is among my relatives.' He said to her, 'Go and look.' So she went and looked, and she did not see anything in them or in him (indicating her relatives). She said, 'I did not see anything in them or in him in the Qur'an.' He said, 'Indeed, I said it: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said it.'"  

لَعَنَ اللهُ الْمُتَوَشِّمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ وَالْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ إِنِّي لَأَظُنُّهُ فِي أَهْلِكَ فَقَالَ لَهَا اذْهَبِي فَانْظُرِي فَذَهَبَتْ فَنَظَرَتْ فَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ فِيهِمْ شَيْئًا وَمَا رَأَيْتُهُ فِي الْمُصْحَفِ قَالَ بَلَى قَالَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah cursed, so a woman from the Banu Asad said to him, 'I think he is cursing your family.' He said, 'Go and look.' So she went and then came back and said, 'I did not see anything in them (i.e., his family), and I did not see him (i.e., the curse) in the Quran.' Abdullah said to her, 'Indeed, yes, the Messenger of Allah said that.'"  

«لُعِنَ الْمُتَنَمِّصَاتُ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتُ وَالْمُتَوَشِّمَاتُ» أَلَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ أَظُنُّهُ فِي أَهْلِكَ قَالَ «اذْهَبِي فَانْظُرِي» فَذَهَبَتْ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ فَقَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ فِيهِنَّ شَيْئًا وَمَا رَأَيْتُهُ فِي الْمُصْحَفِ فَقَالَ لَهَا عَبْدُ اللهِ «بَلَى قَالَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ»  

"I heard the Messenger of Allah [SAW] cursing Al-Mutanammisat, women who have their teeth separated, and women who have tattoos done, those who change the creation of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5107)   

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَلْعَنُ الْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ وَالْمُوشِمَاتِ اللَّاتِي يُغَيِّرْنَ خَلْقَ اللهِ قَالَ يَحْيَى وَالْمُوسِمَاتِ اللَّاتِي  

"I heard the Messenger of Allah [SAW] cursing Al-Mutanammisat, women who have their teeth separated, and women who have tattoos done, those who change the creation of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5107)  

انْطَلَقْتُ مَعَ عَجُوزٍ إِلَى ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَذَكَرَ قِصَّةً فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَلْعَنُ الْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ وَالْمُوشِمَاتِ اللَّاتِي يُغَيِّرْنَ خَلْقَ اللهِ ﷻ  

[Machine] The translation into English is: "Indeed, the changes in God's creation, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited them."  

لَعَنَ اللهُ الْمُتَوَشِّمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْهُ  

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ cursed those involved in usury, the one who consumes it, the one who facilitates it, the one who documents it, the one who witnesses it, and they all knew (that it is forbidden). He further forbade the practice of piercing the body and the one who requests it, the one who does it, and those who have their teeth filed for cosmetic purposes."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَعَنَ الرِّبَا وَآكِلَهُ وَمُوكِلَهُ وَكَاتِبَهُ وَشَاهِدَهُ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ وَالْوَاصِلَةَ وَالْمُسْتَوْصِلَةَ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةَ وَالنَّامِصَةَ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَةَ وَنَهَى عَنِ النَّوْحِ  

"لَعَنَ اللهُ الرِّبَا، وآكلَهُ، وُموكِلَهُ، وكاتِبَهُ، وشاهدُه وهم يعلمون، والواصلةَ والمستوصلَة، والواشِمَةَ والمستوشِمةَ، والنامِصَة والمُتنَمِصَةَ".  

[Machine] Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said, "May the one who connects (= tribal affiliations) be cursed, as well as the tattooer, the fortune-teller, and those who pluck their facial hairs." This statement was said by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .  

«لُعِنَتِ الْوَاصِلَةُ وَالْوَاشِمَةُ وَالْفَالِجَةُ وَالْمُتَنَمِصَةُ» قَالَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ  

[Machine] Abu Dawood said: The "wasila" is the strand of hair that connects a woman's hair together, the "mustawsilah" is what is used to connect the strands of hair, the "namisah" is what is used to pluck the eyebrows and shape them, the "mutanammisah" is what is used to pluck the eyebrows, the "washimah" is what is used to make marks on the face with kohl or ink, and the "mustawshimah" is what is used to make marks. Al-Farra' said: The "namisah" is what removes hair from the face. And it was said to "al-minqash" referring to the one who plucks the eyebrows because it is used to pluck them.  

تَفْسِيرُ الْوَاصِلَةِ الَّتِي تَصِلُ الشَّعْرَ بِشَعْرِ النِّسَاءِ وَالْمُسْتَوْصِلَةُ الْمَعْمُولُ بِهَا وَالنَّامِصَةُ الَّتِي تَنْقُشُ الْحَاجِبَ حَتَّى تُرِقَّهُ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَةُ الْمَعْمُولُ بِهَا وَالْوَاشِمَةُ الَّتِي تَجْعَلُ الْخِيلَانَ فِي وَجْهِهَا بِكُحْلٍ أَوْ مِدَادٍ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةُ الْمَعْمُولُ بِهَا قَالَ الْفَرَّاءُ النَّامِصَةُ الَّتِي تَنْتِفُ الشَّعْرَ مِنَ الْوَجْهِ وَمِنْهُ قِيلَ لِلْمِنْقَاشِ الْمِنْمَاصِ لِأَنَّهُ يُنْتَفُ بِهِ
