[Machine] Abu Ishaq said, "Ali used to pray six units (rak'ahs) after the Friday prayer."
[Machine] That Ibn Mas'ud used to pray four units of prayer after Jumu'ah (Friday prayer).
[Machine] "We used to pray Jumu'ah with Abdullah, and then we would go back and have a meal."
“We used to perform the Friday (prayer), then we would return for a nap (Qailulah).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1102)
[Machine] "I saw Abdullah ibn Mas'ud sweeping the mosque at night, and he would not see any darkness in it except for a man standing and praying."
[Machine] "Your Imam is coming forward" We said, "Our Imam is not here." He said, "Let a man from among you come forward." So a man came forward and stood on a platform in the direction of the mosque's Qibla. Abdullah forbade him.
[Machine] Abdullah said, "The first thing that you will lose from your religion is honesty, and the last thing that will remain is prayer. There will come a time when people will pray but have no faith."
[Machine] "Fasting is from the sighting of the crescent moon until its sighting. If it is hidden from you, then fast for thirty days."
[Machine] I came to Abdullah bin Masood and said, "Some people in the neighborhood and some of our neighbors are fasting today." He asked, "Did they see the crescent?" I said, "No." He said, "Because it is more beloved to me to break my fast for a day in Ramadan and then make it up, than to fast for a day in Sha'ban."
[Machine] You were in a state of ritual impurity, so it was not permissible for you to pray. After you performed ablution (ritual washing), prayer became permissible for you, and fasting also became valid so you may observe it.
[Machine] He came to the mosque after they prayed Fajr, and said to them, "This happened to me during Ramadan, I became sick from my family and then my eyes weakened. So, I woke up without having taken a ritual bath. What do you think?" The people said to him, "We only see that you have broken your fast, so go to Abdullah ibn Mas'ood and ask him, for he is better than you or more knowledgeable." Abdullah ibn Mas'ood said to them, "Breaking the fast is only from consuming food and drink, so complete your fasting."
[Machine] O Abu Abdurrahman, indeed I was in a state of major impurity (janabah) and did not perform the ritual purification (ghusl) until morning came. So Abdullah said, "You were in a state of major impurity, so the prayer was not permissible for you. But since you have performed the ritual purification, the prayer is permissible for you and fasting is also permissible for you." And that was during Ramadan.
[Machine] "If I approach a woman during the night, and intentionally leave bathing until morning, and it does not prevent me from fasting, I have only approached her while she is lawful for me."
[Machine] "If I had approached a woman at night, then intentionally did not perform the ritual ablution until morning, that would not prevent me from fasting, because I approached her while she was lawful for me."
[Machine] "If I went to my family at the beginning of the night, and then I became in a state of janabah (impurity), I would observe fasting, because I went to them while it was halal (permissible) for me."
[Machine] "If I were in a state of impurity, I would stay for a month without finding water. I would not pray until I find water."
[Machine] That Ibn Mas'ud used to have sexual intercourse with his wife during the day while he was fasting.
[Machine] Ibn Masud said, "Whoever breaks their fast for one day in Ramadan without a valid excuse will meet Allah with that sin, even if they were to fast the entire year. If Allah wills, He may forgive them, and if He wills, He may punish them."
[Machine] "Fasting is only from what enters the body, not from what leaves it, and ablution is from what leaves the body, not from what enters it."
[Machine] We had suhoor with Abdullah, then we went out and the prayer was established.
[Machine] If anyone of you is offered food or drink while fasting, they should say, "I am fasting."
[Machine] Abdullah bin Mas'ud said, "Seek Laylat al-Qadr on the night of the seventeenth or the night of the nineteenth or the night of the twenty-first."
[Machine] "May Allah have mercy on Abu Abdurrahman. He knew that it was in Ramadan, but he pretended not to know so that people would not speak. The one who revealed the book on Muhammad, ﷺ , said, 'Indeed, it is in Ramadan, and indeed it is the night of the twenty-seventh.' I asked Abu Al-Mundhir, 'How did you know that?' He replied, 'From the verse that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , informed us of. Indeed, we have seen and memorized it, and by Allah, it is notable and not excluded.' I asked Zirr, 'What is the verse?' He said, 'The sun will rise on that day, as if it were a disk with no rays.'"
I said to Ubayy b. Ka'b: Tell me about lailat al-qadr, O Abu al-Mundhir, for our companion (Ibn Mas'ud) was questioned about it, and he said: Anyone who gets up for prayer every night all the year round will hit upon it (i.e. lailat al-qadr). He replied: May Allah have mercy on Abu 'Abd al-Rahman. By Allah, he knew that it was in Ramadan, (Musaddad's version goes) but he disliked that the people should content themselves (with that night alone); or he liked that the people should not content themselves (with the night alone). According to the agreed version: By Allah, it is the twenty-seventh night of Ramadan, without any reservation. I said: How did you know that, Abu al-Mundhir? He replied: By the indication (or sign) of which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us. I asked Zirr: What is the sign ? He replied: The sun rises like a vessel of water in the morning following that night; it has no rays until it rises high up. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1378)
[Machine] Tell me about the Night of Decree," for Abdullah said, "Whoever stands (in prayer) for it, he will be showered with its blessings." He said, "May Allah have mercy on Abu 'Abdur-Rahman. He knows that it is in Ramadan, but he stayed quiet in order not to burden the people. By Allah, it is on the twenty-seventh night." So I said to Abu Al-Mundhir, "How do you know that?" He said, "Through the verse by which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us. So we counted it and memorized it." Asim said, "I asked Zir, 'What is that verse?' He said, 'The rising of the white sun (a little intense light) which appears like the tumb (the full moon) and lasts until it rises." I kept asking him about it repeatedly and he answered me the same way.
[Machine] "It is in Ramadan and indeed it is the night of the twenty-seventh," I said. And how do you know that? He said, "By the verse that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us about, so we counted and memorized, and by Allah, it is definitely that night, there is no exception."
[Machine] "The Night of Destiny is the twenty-seventh night." I asked, "O Abu al-Mundhir, how did you know that?" He said, "Through the verse that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us of. So, I memorized it and counted it. And the One who sent down the Book upon Muhammad ﷺ indeed stated that it is the twenty-seventh night."
[Machine] "Tell me, for I used to love meeting you, and I did not come except to meet you. So tell me about the Night of Decree, for Ibn Mas'ud says, 'Whoever establishes the Sunnah will be touched by it or will attain it.' Ubayy said, 'He knew that it was in Ramadan, but he loved to blind you. Verily, it is the twenty-seventh night, according to the verse narrated to us by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We memorized it and learned it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to continue it until dawn, when it was a day before it and a day after it. He would look at the sun and say, "Indeed, it rises without its rays until it rises."
[Machine] Ubayy (may Allah have mercy on Abu Abdur-Rahman), knew that it was in the month of Ramadan on the twenty-seventh night, but he preferred not to rely on it.
[Machine] Whoever observes the entire month of Ramadan, he will surely catch its Night of Power. So, I arrived at Medina and mentioned this to Ubayy, who said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, I know which night it is that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to observe." So, I asked him about it, and he said, "It is the twenty-seventh night." Abdullah said, "So, if the month is thirty days, we would observe three nights after it, and if it is twenty-nine days, we would observe two nights after it."
[Machine] Abdullah used to pray with us in Ramadan and then leave at night.
[Machine] He said, "In twenty-five of the camels, if it is not a male offspring, then it is Laboon's son." He replied, "Yes."
[Machine] "What do you have with me in terms of provision? Indeed, your provision is only from your own efforts and your recompense, and charity belongs to its intended recipients." So when they hesitated to approach him, he brought the keys to Uthman, threw them and said, "I am not a treasurer."
[Machine] "When they reach the age of maturity, inform them about the obligation of paying Zakat. If they wish, guide them to fulfill it, and if they wish to leave it, then let them."
[Machine] To him is a due the Zakat of such and such amount, annually.
[Machine] Indeed, in my possession there are orphans, so should I give it to them?" He said, "Yes."
[Machine] "O Abu Abdur-Rahman, is there Zakat in my jewelry?" He said, "Yes." She said, "I have an orphaned nephew, shall I include him among them?" He said, "Include him among them."
[Machine] "Whoever earns good, their zakat purifies it, and whoever earns evil, zakat does not purify it."
[Machine] "When one of you follows a funeral procession, he should take hold of the sides of the bed completely, as this is from the Sunnah. Then he should either perform voluntary prayers afterwards or leave." The wording is from the Hadith of Abu Nuaim.
