[Machine] Ibn Mas'ud said, "Do not stand between the columns and do not join a group while they are talking."
[Machine] Abdullah said: "Do not associate with people who have doubts, and do not pray between structures."
[Machine] I heard Ibn Masud saying, "Do not stand between the rows and do not pray when there are people passing in front of you."
[Machine] "I hated praying between the pillars, single or double."
[Machine] Ibn Mas'ud used to say the takbeer every time he lowered or raised his body.
[Machine] "That Ibn Mas'ud used to raise his hands at the beginning, then he would not raise them afterwards."
[Machine] "Abdullah used to not raise his hands in anything during prayer except in the first Takbeer."
[Machine] He used to raise his hands when he entered prayer, then he wouldn't raise them afterwards.
[Machine] And on the authority of Ibn Mas'ud, he said that when they would begin, they would say, "Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise. Blessed is Your name, exalted is Your majesty, and there is no deity worthy of worship except You, before the reading."
[Machine] "He used to say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the accursed Satan, from his whisperings, his blowing, and his insinuations.'"
[Machine] His whisper means Satan, his sneezing means madness, his snorting means arrogance, and his breath means poetry.
[Machine] "Ali and Ibn Mas'ud did not pronounce aloud 'Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim' (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful) nor 'A'udhu billahi min ash-Shaytan ir-Rajim' (I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed) nor 'Ameen'."
[Machine] Ibn Mas'ud used to begin his prayer with "Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds."
أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ كَانَ يَفْتَتِحُ صَلَاتَهُ بِ {الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ}
“We used to recite the Opening of the Book and a Surah behind the Imam in the first two Rak’ah of the Zuhr and the ‘Asr, and in the last wo Rak’ah (we would recite) the Opening of the Book.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 843)
[Machine] "That Ibn Mas'ud prayed Isha with them and recited forty verses from Al-Anfal, then in the second rakah he recited a chapter from Al-Mufassal."
[Machine] Ibn Mas'ood led us in the night prayer, and he started with Surah Al-Anfal until he reached the verse "What an excellent protector and what an excellent helper" and then he bowed. Then, in the second unit, he recited two separate Surahs.
[Machine] Abdullah recited in the last night prayer in the first unit [They ask you about the spoils of war...] until [What an excellent guardian and helper He is] then he bowed, then he recited in the second unit with a chapter from the detailed [Quran]. He said, "Yes."
[Machine] Ammana Abdullah bin Mas'ud fi salaatil 'isha'il akhirati faftataha al-anfaal faqara'a hatta itha balagha {ni'ma al-mawla wa ni'ma al-nasir} raka'a thumma qama faqara'a fi al-raka'at al-thaniyati bi surahin.
[Machine] "O Abu Abdur Rahman, do I read behind the imam?" He said, "Listen to the Quran, for in the prayer there is occupation, and that imam will suffice for you."
[Machine] Ibn Masood used to not recite behind the imam, and Ibrahim used to adhere to it.
[Machine] "That Ibn Mas'ud used to not recite behind the imam" and Ibrahim used to adhere to it.
[Machine] "When the imam greets you, do not ignore him as his words are important."
[Machine] Alqamah and Al-Aswad said: "We prayed behind Abdullah, and when he went into the bowing position, he placed his hands on his knees and struck our hands." So we did the same.
[Machine] "Verily, Ibn Masud knelt and placed his hands flat and positioned them between his knees."
[Machine] Abdullah used to place his hands between his knees and spread his arms on his thighs when he would bow.
[Machine] "That Abdullah used to say in his bowing, 'O Lord, forgive me.'"
[Machine] To say in his bowing and prostration, "Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, la ilaha ghairuka."
[Machine] Abu al-Aswad used to say, in his prostration, "You are free from any imperfections, O Lord, there is no god but You." Shaddad used to say, "You are free from any imperfections, there is no deity except You."
[Machine] "I entered the mosque and found Abdullah praying. He performed a bow and I started reciting Surah Al-A'raf. I finished it before he prostrated."
[Machine] Allah hears the one who praises Him, so let the one behind him say, "Our Lord, to You belongs all praise."
[Machine] Allah hears whoever praises Him, so let it be said by those behind Him: "Our Lord, to You is the praise."
[Machine] Abdullah said, "When one of you prostrates, let them not prostrate like a camel with its hump raised, nor like a reclining person, for indeed when they perfect their prostration, all of their bones prostrate.”
[Machine] "If one of you prostrates, then do not prostrate as if lying down or with limbs widespread, for indeed when one prostrates properly, every limb of theirs shall prostrate."
[Machine] "He rises on the balls of his feet in the first and second units of the prayer."
[Machine] "Abdullah used to perform it when he raised his head from prostration."
[Machine] "Abdullah said, 'Do not pluck (your hair), for indeed your hair prostrates and for every hair you will receive reward.' He (the person) said, 'I only plucked it so that it does not become untidy.' He (Abdullah) said, 'If it becomes untidy, it is better for you.'"
[Machine] Abdullah came across a man prostrating, with his head shaved. He unraveled his head covering and sent it as a gift. Then he waited until the man finished praying and said to him, "Indeed, your hair prostrates with you, so do not shave it, for you will be rewarded for every single hair of it." The man said, "I was afraid that it would become infested with lice." Abdullah replied, "If it had become infested with lice, it would have been better for you."
[Machine] "Abdullah would not turn around in prayer if his need was on his right, he would turn away from his right. And if his need was on his left, he would turn away from his left."
[Machine] He used to say, "When the imam concludes the prayer, go wherever you need to go, to the right or to the left, and do not turn around like a donkey."
“He took my head or the hair of my head and made me stand on his right side”. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 611)
[Machine] "If the imam concludes the prayer, then let him stand up or move away from his position." So I said, "Is it permissible for him to move away from his position and face the qibla?". He replied, "Moving away can mean either going to the west or to the east, away from one's original position."
[Machine] It means: "It is narrated that he (referring to the Prophet Muhammad) used to stand up from his seat or turn towards the east or west when greeting someone."
[Machine] "If the Imam says salam and someone has a need, he should not wait for the Imam to receive him with his face, for the dividing point of the prayer is the salutation." So, when Abdullah says salam, he does not wait for long before he stands up or turns from his place and receives them with his face.
[Machine] "If you are behind the imam, do not perform the rukoo' (bowing) until he bows, and do not prostrate until he prostrates, and do not raise your head before him. If the imam finishes the prayer, without standing up or turning away and you have a need, then leave and abandon it, as your prayer is completed."
[Machine] Abu Khalid, one of the companions of Abdullah, narrated that a man came to Abdullah and said, "O Abu Abdur Rahman, so-and-so recites the Quran while he is bowing and recites it while he is prostrating." Abdullah said, "Indeed, there are men who recite the Quran but their recitation does not go beyond their throats. Verily, it (the Quran) enters the heart and settles in it, benefiting (the person)."
