سَبْرَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ الْجُعْفِيُّ جَدُّ خَيْثَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ

[AI] His father came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "What is your offspring?" He (the Prophet) said, "Abd-ul-Uzza, Sadaqah, and Harith." He (the father) said, "Do not name him Abd-ul-Uzza." So, he (the Prophet) named him Abdullah. Then he said, "Indeed, the best of names are Abd-Allah and Abdur-Rahman." And he prayed for him and his children, and they remained in honor until this day. Abu Muhammad al-Hajjaj ibn al-Minhali Khaythama ibn Abdur-Rahman is among them.

أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا وَلَدُكَ؟» قَالَ عَبْدُ الْعُزَّى وَسَبْرَةُ وَالْحَارِثُ فَقَالَ «لَا تُسَمِّ عَبْدَ الْعُزَّى» فَسَمَّاهُ عَبْدَ اللهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ خَيْرَ الْأَسْمَاءِ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ» وَدَعَا لَهُ وَلِوَلَدِهِ فَلَمْ يَزَالُوا فِي شَرَفٍ إِلَى الْيَوْمِ قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ خَيْثَمَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مِنْهُمْ
