"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The Imam is appointed to be followed, so when he says the takbir, say the takbir, and when he recites, be silent.'"
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا الإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا قَرَأَ فَأَنْصِتُوا قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ كَانَ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ يَقُولُ هُوَ ثِقَةٌ يَعْنِي مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ الأَنْصَارِيَّ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The imam has been appointed to be followed. So, when he says 'Allahu Akbar,' say 'Allahu Akbar' as well, and when he recites, listen attentively."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا قَرَأَ فَأَنْصِتُوا
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The imam is to be followed, so when he says 'Allahu Akbar', you should say 'Allahu Akbar' and when he recites the Quran, you should remain silent." Abu Abdur Rahman said to us, "We do not know of anyone who followed Ibn Ajlan in his saying 'and when he recites the Quran, you should remain silent'."
