[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The imam is to be followed, so when he says 'Allahu Akbar', you should say 'Allahu Akbar' and when he recites the Quran, you should remain silent." Abu Abdur Rahman said to us, "We do not know of anyone who followed Ibn Ajlan in his saying 'and when he recites the Quran, you should remain silent'."  

الكبرى للنسائي:٩٩٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمَخْرَمِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا قَرَأَ فَأَنْصِتُوا» قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَنَّ أَحَدًا تَابَعَ ابْنَ عَجْلَانَ عَلَى قَوْلِهِ وَإِذَا قَرَأَ فَأَنْصِتُوا
