The Prophet ﷺ said: “Is any one of you incapable, when he prays, of moving forward or backward, or to his right or to his left?”—meaning the voluntary prayer.
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِذَا صَلَّى أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ أَوْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ أَوْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ؟» –يَعْنِي السُّبْحَةَ.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Is any one of you unable” —he said, narrating from Abd al-Warith— “to move forward or move back, or to his right, or to his left," In Hammad's narration there is an addition: “in the prayer?” meaning in voluntary prayer.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ» –قَالَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ– «أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ، أَوْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، أَوْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ»، زَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ حَمَّادٍ: «فِي الصَّلَاةِ؟»، –يَعْنِي فِي السُّبْحَةِ.
“Is anyone of you incapable, when he prays, of stepping forwards or backwards, or to his right or left?” meaning in order to offer a voluntary prayer. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1427)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِذَا صَلَّىأَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ أَوْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ أَوْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If one of you intends to perform a voluntary act of worship after the obligatory prayer, let him either precede it or delay it, or perform it to his right or to his left."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَتَطَوَّعَ بَعْدَ الْفَرِيضَةِ فَلْيَتَقَدَّمْ أَوْ لِيَتَأَخَّرْ أَوْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ أَوْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ
"أيَعْجِزُ أحَدُكُمْ أنْ يَتقدَمَ، أو يَتَأخَّرَ، أوْ عَنْ يَمِينه، أوْ عَن شماليه في الصَّلَاةِ؟ يعنى في السجدةِ ".
"أَيَعْجِزُ أحَدُكُمْ إِذا صلى فَأَرادَ أنْ يتَطوَّعَ أنْ يتقدَّمَ، أوْ يتأخَّرَ، أوْ يَتَحَّولَ عن يَمِينِه، أو عَنْ يَسَارهِ؟ " .
