ذِكْرُ وَصْفِ الشِّغَارِ الَّذِي نُهِيَ عَنِ اسْتِعْمَالِهِ

ibnhibban:4153 – Aḥmad b. ʿAlī b. al-Muthanná > Ibrāhīm b. Saʿīd al-Jawharī > Yaʿqūb b. Ibrāhīm from my father > Ibn Isḥāq > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Hurmuz al-Aʿraj > ʿAbbās b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbbās Ankaḥ ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. al-Ḥakam Āb.atah And ʾAnkaḥah ʿAbd al-Raḥman Āb.atah Waqad Kānā Jaʿalāh Ṣadāq Fakatab Muʿāwiyah b. Abū Sufyān Wahū Khalīfah > Marwān Yaʾmuruh Bi-al-Ttafrīq Baynahumā

Al-Abbas ibn Abdullah ibn al-Abbas married his daughter to Abdur Rahman ibn al-Hakam, and AbdurRahman married his daughter to him. And they made this (exchange) their dower. Mu'awiyah wrote to Marwan commanding him to separate them. He wrote in his letter: This is the shighar which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2075)
