"When this Verse was revealed -'By no means shall you attain Al Birr (piety, righteousness--here it means Allah's reward, i.e. Paradise), unless you spend (in Allah's cause) of that which you love'- Abu Talha said: 'Our Lord will ask us about our wealth. I adjure you, O Messenger of Allah! I am giving my land to Allah.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'Make it for your relatives, Hassan bin Thabit and Ubayy bin Ka'b.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3602)

[Machine] Abu Talhah recited Surah Baraat and came across the verse "March forth, whether light or heavy." He then said, "Do I not see that my Lord is preparing me, a young man and an old man?" His sons said to him, "You have already fought alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until he passed away. You fought alongside Abu Bakr until he died. You fought alongside Umar, and now we fight on your behalf." He said, "Prepare me." So they prepared him, and he rode on the sea but died. They could not find an island to bury him until after seven days, and his body did not decompose.
[Machine] Um Salim went out with the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Hunayn, and she had a dagger with her. Abu Talha said to her, "Um Salim, what is this?" She said, "I took it, and by Allah, a man approached me and I struck him in his stomach." Abu Talha said, "Do you not pay attention to what Um Salim is saying? She is saying such and such." She said, "O Messenger of Allah, kill those who come after us from the Thulqa' because they retreated because of you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Um Salim, Allah is sufficient and He is the best."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered the house of Umm Salim and she brought him dates and clarified butter. He said, "Take your clarified butter and put it in its container, and put your dates in their place, for I am fasting." Then he went to a side of the house and performed a non-obligatory prayer and made supplication for Umm Salim and her family. Umm Salim said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have a cousin." He asked, "Who is it?" She replied, "It is your servant Anas, who has not left anything good for the hereafter or the worldly life except that you supplicate for it." Then he said, "O Allah, grant him wealth, children, and bless him." Anas said, "I have never seen anyone among the Ansar (helpers) who has more wealth than me." He also mentioned that his daughter Umaynah informed him that he was buried near the Mashhad of Al-Hajjaj in Basra.
[Machine] "He (Abu Talhah) has no equal to you. But I am a Muslim woman and you are a disbelieving man, so it is not permissible for me to marry you. However, if you convert, that will be my dowry and I will not ask you for anything else." So he converted and she became his wife. They consummated the marriage and she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy in the morning. Abu Talhah loved him intensely. The boy lived until he was able to move, but then he fell ill and Abu Talhah was deeply saddened by him to the point of becoming physically weak. He would visit the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the day and stay there until the evening. The baby eventually passed away, and Umm Sulaym performed the necessary rituals for him, cleaned him, and placed him in their bed. Abu Talhah came and asked her, "How is our son doing?" She replied, "He is in the best condition since he fell ill. He had a peaceful night." Abu Talhah praised Allah and was pleased with that. She served him dinner, and after eating, he touched her in a subtle way, and she allowed it until they had intimate relations. Afterward, when he got up, he mentioned to her, "If you were to lend a neighbor of yours some priceless possessions and then he wanted to take them back, would you return them to him?" She replied, "By Allah, I would certainly return them to him." He said, "Is your own self valuable to you?" She said, "My own self is definitely valuable to me." He said, "Indeed, Allah has lent us a son and allowed us to enjoy him for as long as He wished, but then He took him back. So be patient and seek reward from Allah." Abu Talhah remained patient and then set off in the morning to visit the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and narrated to him the incident as told by Umm Sulaym. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah bless both of you in your night." Umm Sulaym became pregnant again, and this time the pregnancy was heavier. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Talhah, "When Umm Sulaym gives birth, bring the child to me." Abu Talhah wrapped the baby in a cloth and brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Messenger of Allah then chewed a date and placed it in the baby's mouth, and the baby immediately stopped crying. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Talhah, "The people of Madinah love dates." He smoothed the baby's hair, named him Abdullah, and made dua for him.

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "What happened to Abu Umair?" He (Abu Talhah) replied, "He fell ill, and Abu Talhah was absent in one of his gardens. The child died, so Umm Sulaim washed, shrouded, and perfumed him, and she put a cloth on him and said, 'No one should inform Abu Talhah until I inform him myself.' Then Abu Talhah came in angrily as he was fasting, so Umm Sulaim prepared herself for him and made herself presentable. She brought him his dinner, and he asked, 'What did Abu Umair do?' She replied, 'He had dinner and afterwards he was gone.' He said, 'Then I will also have dinner.' He ate from it what a man would eat from his family, and then she said, 'O Abu Talhah, have you seen a people who would lend their clothes to another family naked? So their owners may ask them to return it, or they would keep it?' He replied, 'No, they would return it to them.' She said, 'Then be patient and have hope, O Abu Umair.' He became angry and went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of the words of Umm Sulaim. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'May Allah bless your night.' Then she gave birth to Abdullah bin Abu Talhah on the seventh day. Umm Sulaim said to me, 'O Anas, take this baby and this towel, and there is some ajwa dates in it, to the Prophet ﷺ so that he will massage and name him.' So I went to the Prophet ﷺ with the baby, and he extended his legs and laid him down in his bed, and he took a date, chewed it, and placed it in the mouth of the baby and rubbed it on his palate. Then he said, 'The Ansar would only love dates.'"

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and took a nap in our house, then he woke up smiling. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, what has made you smile?' He said: 'I saw some people of my Ummah riding on the sea like kings on thrones.' I said: 'Pray to Allah to make me one of them.' He said: 'You will be one of them.' Then he slept again, and woke up smiling. I asked him and he said the same thing. I said: 'Pray to Allah to make me one of them.' He said: 'You will be one of the first.' Then 'Ubadah bin As-Samit married her, and he traveled by sea, and she traveled with him, but when she came ashore a mule was brought to her and she mounted it, and it threw her off and broke her neck." [Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ awarded Abu Amer Al-Ash'ari a share of the spoils of war from the Battle of Hunayn. When the horses of the tribe of Talibah were defeated, he pursued them until he caught up with Dureed bin As-Simah. He quickly attacked him and killed him. Abu Musa said, "I became severe with Dureed and killed him, and I took the flag and returned with the people to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . When he saw me with the flag in my hand, he asked, 'Abu Musa, was Abu Amer killed?' I said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He raised his hands to supplicate for him and said, 'O Allah, make Abu Amer among those who will have the most on the Day of Resurrection.'"

He (the Holy Prophet) sent me along with Abu 'Amir and Abu 'Amir received a wound in his knee from the arrow, (shot by) a person of Bani Jusham. It stuck in his knee. I went to him and said: Uncle, who shot an arrow upon you? Abu 'Amir pointed out to Abu Musa and said: Verily that one who shot an arrow upon me in fact killed me. Abu Musa said: I followed him with the determination to kill him and overtook him and when he saw me he turned upon his heels. I followed him and I said to him: Don't you feel ashamed (that you run), aren't you an Arab? Why don't you stop? He stopped and I had an encounter with him and we exchanged the strokes of (swords). I struck him with the sword and killed him. Then I came back to Abu Amir and said: Verily Allah has killed the one who killed you. And he said: Now draw out this arrow. I drew out the arrow and there came out from that (wound) water. Abu 'Amir said: My nephew, go to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and convey my greetings to him and tell him that Abu Amir begs you to ask forgiveness for him. And Abu Amir appointed me as the chief of the people and he died after a short time. When I came to Allah's Apostle ﷺ I visited him and he had been lying on the cot woven by strings and there was (no) bed over it and so there had been marks of the strings on the back of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and on his sides. I narrated to him what had happened to us and narrated to him about Abu Amir and said to him that he had made a request to the effect that forgiveness should be sought for him (from Allah). Thereupon Messenger of Allah (may peace be. upon him) called for water and performed ablution with it. He then lifted his hands and said. O Allah, grant pardon to Thy servant Abu Amir. (The Prophet had raised his hands so high for supplication) that I saw the whiteness of his armpits. He again said: O Allah, grant him distinction amongst the majority of Thine created beings or from amongst the people. I said: Messenger of Allah, ask forgiveness for me too. Thereupon Allah's Apostle ﷺ said: Allah, forgive the sins of Abdullah b. Qais (Abu Musa Ash'ari) and admit him to an elevated place on the Day of Resurrection. Abu Burda said: One prayer is for abu 'Amir and the other is tor Abu Musa. (Using translation from Muslim 2498)

[Machine] We were informed by Al-Muthanna Al-Abdi, the father of Munazil, one of Bani Ghanm, from Al-Ashajj Al-Asari that he came with a group from Abd Al-Qays to visit the Prophet ﷺ . They arrived and the Prophet ﷺ welcomed them and allowed them to stay with him. When they arrived, the Prophet ﷺ raised his voice for them, so they dismounted. The people rushed and only wore their travel clothes. Al-Asari then led the prayer and straightened the rows for his companions and his camel. He then took off his clothes from his cloak and that was seen by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Then he approached the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Indeed, you possess two qualities that Allah and His Messenger love." Al-Asari asked, "What are they?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Humility and patience." Al-Asari asked, "Is that something I was created with, or something I can learn?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "No, rather it is something you were created with." Al-Asari said, "All praise is due to Allah." Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "O people of Abd Al-Qays, why do I see that your faces have changed?" They said, "O Prophet of Allah, we are in a land of famine, where we used to take from these leaves what would cut into our stomachs. But when we were prohibited from eating them, this is what you see in our faces." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, leaves are neither halal (permissible) nor haram (forbidden), but every intoxicant is haram. And it is not that you should withhold from drinking until your veins are filled, then you get into a dispute and one man strikes his cousin with a sword, leaving him crippled." He added, "And on that day, he (Al-Asari) was the crippled one among the people who experienced this."

[Machine] The horses of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , or the messengers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , came and took my aunt and some people. When they brought them to the Prophet ﷺ , they lined up for him. My aunt said, "O Messenger of Allah, the newcomers have taken away our wealth and our children have become separated from us. I am an old woman and I have no one to serve me. Who will take care of me? May Allah bless whoever takes care of me." He ﷺ said, "Who brought you?" She said, "Adi ibn Hatim." He asked, "The one who escaped from Allah and His Messenger?" She replied, "Yes." He asked, "Who took care of you?" She said, "I did." As he was leaving, a man came to him and it seemed that it was Ali. He said, "Tell him to bring me the pregnant she-camel." She said, "So I asked him and he ordered it for her." So, I went to him and said, "You have done a deed that your father used to do. Come to him willingly or as a monk." So, he came to him and this person came to him and he was afflicted by him, and then he came to him and he was afflicted by him. So, I went to him and found that there was a woman and children with him, or a male child. Their closeness to the Prophet ﷺ was evident, so I knew that he was not a king like Khusrow or Caesar. He said to me, "O Adi ibn Hatim, what prevents you from saying: 'There is no god but Allah'? Is there any god but Allah? What prevents you from saying: 'Allah is the Greatest'? Is there anything greater than Allah?" I said, "So, I embraced Islam and I saw the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ filled with joy and he said, "Indeed, the Jews are the one who has earned Allah's anger, and the Christians are the ones who have gone astray."

[Machine] We were with the Prophet, ﷺ , in one of his battles. I got lost one night and couldn't find the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , in his place. But his companions seemed to have birds on their heads, and the camels had dropped their reins. Mu'adh ibn Jabal then intercepted me and said, "Where is the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ ?" He replied, "Behind me." As I continued, I saw Abu Musa al-Ash'ari and asked him the same question. He also said, "Behind me." Then, Humeid ibn Hilal narrated from Abu Burdah from Abu Musa from Awf ibn Malik that I heard a sound behind Abu Musa, like the sound of a grinding stone. Then, I found myself in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and I said, "O Messenger of Allah, when the Prophet, ﷺ , was in enemy territory, he had guards with him. He said, "A visitor came to me and gave me the choice between half of my Ummah entering Paradise and intercession, so I chose intercession." Mu'adh asked, "Am I and my mother among them, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "Yes, you are among them." Awf ibn Malik and Abu Musa also asked, "O Messenger of Allah, we have left our wealth, families, and children, believing in Allah and His Messenger, so include us among them." He said, "You are among them." Then, we came to the people and they had become tumultuous. The Prophet, ﷺ , said, "A visitor came to me from my Lord and gave me the choice between half of my Ummah entering Paradise and intercession, so I chose intercession." The people said, "O Messenger of Allah, include us among them." He said, "Stay silent." They remained silent as if no one had spoken. Then, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "It is for those who die without associating anything with Allah."

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped at Dhi Tuwa, Abu Quhafa said to his youngest daughter: "O my daughter, show me Abu Qubays." She said: "His sight has been reduced, so I went near him." He said: "O my daughter, what do you see?" She said: "I see a gathering of blackness." He said: "Those are the horses." She said: "And I see a man moving forward and backward in front of that gathering." He said: "That is the controller who gives orders to the horses and approaches them." Then she said: "Indeed, the blackness has spread." He said: "Indeed, the horses have been driven." Hurry up and take me to my house." So, she held him and the horses received them before they reached their house. On the neck of the girl, there was a necklace made of leaves; a man took it off her neck. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the Masjid, Abu Bakr Abu Bakr came to him, walking beside his father. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw him, he said: "Why did you not leave the old man in his house until I came to him?" Abu Bakr said: "O Messenger of Allah, he is more worthy to come to you than that you come to him." So he made him sit in front of him, then he touched his chest and said to him: "Accept Islam." So he accepted Islam. Then Abu Bakr entered with him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and it seemed that his head was disheveled. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Change this from his hair." Then Abu Bakr stood up and took his sister's hand and said: "I swear by Allah and Islam, release the necklace of my sister." No one responded to him. So he said: "O my sister, bear with it. By Allah, today, trustworthiness among people is rare."

[Machine] The Muslims did not look at Abu Sufyan (May Allah be pleased with him) and did not sit with him. He (Abu Sufyan) said, "O Messenger of Allah, I ask you for three things. Will you give them to me?" He (the Prophet) said, "And what are they?" He said, "I have the most beautiful Arab woman and the best of them is Umm Habibah. You should marry her." He (the Prophet) said, "Yes." He (Abu Sufyan) said, "And make Mu'awiyah your scribe." He (the Prophet) said, "Yes." He (Abu Sufyan) said, "And command me until I fight against the polytheists as I used to fight against the Muslims." He (the Prophet) said, "Yes."

She said: 'Hafsah said to me that I am the daughter of a Jew.' So the Prophet ﷺ said: 'And you are the daughter of a Prophet, and your uncle is a Prophet, and you are married to a Prophet, so what is she boasting to you about?' Then he said: 'Fear Allah, O Hafsah.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3894)

[Machine] "I was in the row behind my father Talhah on the day of Khaybar, and indeed my foot touched the foot of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . So we came to Khaybar while they (the enemy) had already come out with their bags, helmets, and shackles. They said, 'Muhammad and Al-Khamis have come.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Allahu Akbar! Khaybar is ruined, for when we descend upon the territory of a people, morning is a bad time for those who are warned.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fought them and defeated them. When the booty was divided, it was said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , 'Indeed, a beautiful young girl from the offspring of Dihyah Al-Kalbi fell to the lot of Allah's Messenger ﷺ as his share, so he bought her with seven heads (of goats).' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ handed her over to Umm Sulaim to prepare her, and Umm Sulaim used to accompany the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in battles. He called for a razor, and she was brought. He then gave her a head shave, and he gave her dates and clarified butter, and she carried it. Then he set up a curtain, and commanded that the curtain be stretched. When the people had eaten their fill, they said, 'Did he marry her or take her as a concubine?' They said, 'If he marries her, then she will be his wife, but if he takes her as a concubine, then she will be a mother for the offspring.' When he intended to ride, he made her ride, and made her sit behind him. When they drew near to Medina, he let the camel go, and the people placed their palms upon her, and the women came out to look at her. She then stumbled, and Safiyah fell, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and covered her. The women said, 'May Allah keep the Jewess away!' and they made remarks about her. Thabit said: 'So I said to Anas: "O Abu Hamzah! Did Messenger of Allah ﷺ fall from his camel?" He replied: "Yes, by Allah he did fall from his camel, O Abu Muhammad."

"The Prophet stayed between Khaibar and Al-Madinah for three days when he consummated his marriage to Safiyyah bint Huyayy, and I invited the Muslims to his Walimah, in which there was no bread or meat. He commanded that a leather cloth (be spread) and dates, cottage cheese and ghee were placed on it, and that was his Walimah. The Muslims said: '(Will she be) one of the Mothers of the Believers, or a female slave whom his right hand possesses?' They said: 'If he has a Hijab for her, then she will be one of the Mothers of the Believers and if she does not have a Hijab then she will be a female slave whom his right hand possesses.' When he rode on, he set aside a plate for her behind him and extended a Hijab between her and the people." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3382)
