ذِكْرُ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ ؓ

ibnhibban:7205 – Muḥammad b. Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm a freed slave of Thaqīf > Abū Bakr b. Abū al-Naḍr > Ḥajjāj b. Muḥammad > Shuʿbah > Simāk b. Ḥarb > ʿAlqamah b. Wāʾil from his father

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , ordered that a piece of land be given to Mu'awiyah. Mu'awiyah said, "Appoint me as your successor." The Prophet, ﷺ , replied, "Do not be among those who follow the footsteps of kings." Mu'awiyah then requested the Prophet's sandals, to which he said, "Wear the shadow of the camel." When Mu'awiyah became the caliph, I went to him and he made me sit with him on his bed and narrated the hadith to me. He said, "I wish I had carried the Prophet, ﷺ , in my arms."  

ابن حبّان:٧٢٠٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَقْطَعْهُ أَرْضًا وَأَرْسَلَ مَعَهُ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَنْ أَعْطِهَا إِيَّاهُ» فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَرْدِفْنِي خَلْفَكَ قَالَ «لَا تَكُنْ مِنْ أَرْدَافِ الْمُلُوكِ» فَقَالَ أَعْطِنِي نَعْلَكَ فَقَالَ «انْتَعِلْ ظِلَّ النَّاقَةِ» فَلَمَّا اسْتَخْلَفَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَتَيْتُهُ فَأَقْعَدَنِي مَعَهُ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ وَذَكَرَ لِي الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ «وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ حَمَلْتُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ»

[Machine] that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded him to divide the land. He said, "So he sent Mu'awiyah with me to give it to him or teach it to him." He said, "Then Mu'awiyah said to me, 'Let me follow you.' So I said, 'Do not be from the followers of kings.' He said, 'Give me your sandals.' So I said, 'Wear the shadow of the camel.'" He said, "When Mu'awiyah became the ruler, he called me and seated me with him on the bed. He reminded me of the incident, and said, 'Your name is Samak.' I said, 'I wish I had carried it in my hands.'"  

أحمد:٢٧٢٣٩ – حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَقْطَعَهُ أَرْضًا قَالَ فَأَرْسَلَ مَعِي مُعَاوِيَةَ أَنْ أَعْطِهَا إِيَّاهُ أَوْ قَالَ أَعْلِمْهَا إِيَّاهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي مُعَاوِيَةُ أَرْدِفْنِي خَلْفَكَ فَقُلْتُ لَا تَكُونُ مِنْ أَرْدَافِ الْمُلُوكِ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَعْطِنِي نَعْلَكَ فَقُلْتُ انْتَعِلْ ظِلَّ النَّاقَةِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَتَيْتُهُ فَأَقْعَدَنِي مَعَهُ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ فَذَكَّرَنِي الْحَدِيثَ فَقَالَ سِمَاكٌ فَقَالَ وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ حَمَلْتُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to a specific land and assigned Muawiyah to accompany me. He said, "Teach him and give him what he needs." Muawiyah said to me, "Let me ride behind you." I replied, "Do not be like the followers of kings." He then said, "Give me your shoes so that I may wear them." I told him to wear the shadow of the camel. When Muawiyah became the ruler, I approached him and he made me sit with him on the bed. Then, he reminded me of the incident and said, "You were carrying me in your arms."  

الطبراني:١٨٣٠٧ – حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ قَالَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثَنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a certain land and said to me, "Send Muawiyah with me to give it to him or teach it to him." Muawiyah said to me, "Let me follow you." I said to him, "Do not be like the rear of the kings." Muawiyah said, "Give me your sandals." I said to him, "Wear the shadow of the camel." When Muawiyah was appointed as the governor, I went to him and he sat me with him on the bed. He reminded me of the conversation. Sumak said, Wail wished I had carried it in my hands.  

البيهقي:١١٧٨٩ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ السُّوسِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ ثنا حَجَّاجٌ الْأَعْوَرُ أَخْبَرَنِي شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
