13. Book of Pilgrimage (Ḥajj)
It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet ﷺ entered Makkah on the day of the Conquest, with a helmet on his head. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2805)
On the day of the Conquest, the Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca, wearing a helmet on his head. When he took it off, a man came and said, "Ibn Khatal is clinging to the curtain of the Kaʿba." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Kill him." (Malik a sub-narrator said, "On that day the Prophet ﷺ was not in a state of Ihram as it appeared to us, and Allah knows better.") (Using translation from Bukhārī 4286)
In the year of the conquest of Mecca, the Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca from Kada' at the higher place of Mecca. (Hisham, a sub-narrator said, " ʿUrwa used to enter (Mecca) from both Kada' and Kuda and he often entered through Kada' which was nearer to his dwelling place.)" (Using translation from Bukhārī 1579)
[Machine] About a man who came to perform Hajj, and when he circled around the Kaaba, he wondered if he should return to his family or not. Urwah then said, "The Prophet ﷺ performed Hajj, and Aisha told me that the first thing he did when he arrived in Mecca was that he performed ablution and circled the Kaaba."
"When the Messenger of Allah arrived in Makkah he circumambulated the House seven times, then he prayed two Rakahs behind the Maqam. Then, he went out to As-Safa through the gate that is usually used to exit, and performed Sai between As-Safa and Al-Marwah." (One of the narrators Shubah said: Ayub informed me from Amr bin Dinar from Ibn Umar that he said: "A Sunnah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2966)
[Machine] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Mecca, he threw sand (on his head) ﷺ ."

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw pebbles and said, 'Believe and disbelieve, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has thrown pebbles and it is not a Sunnah.' Then he said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the polytheists arrived at Qu'ayqa'an, and they spoke that the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were weak and exhausted. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered them to throw pebbles to show them that they are strong.'"
[Machine] I asked Abu Tufayl, "What are the three corners that are attached to the Kaaba?" Abu Tufayl replied, "I asked Ibn Abbas about them, and he said that when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ conquered the city of Makkah, the companions of the Prophet were informed that the Quraysh used to say they would feed the weak. So the companions said, 'O Messenger of Allah, if we eat from our back (animal) parts, eat from its fats and drink its broth, we will have enough until we meet the people, and we have with us our cooking pots.' The Prophet replied, 'No, bring me the best of your supplies.' So they spread out their containers and gathered all their food in them. The Prophet then made supplication for them, asking for blessings in the food. They ate until they were full and satisfied. They even filled their pouches with the remaining food. When the Prophet entered the gathering of the Quraysh, and they gathered near the Black Stone, the Prophet pointed with his finger, and then said to his companions, 'Let the people not see any resentment from you.' He then took the Yemeni corner and the Quraysh gradually dispersed. The Prophet, along with his companions, then approached the Black Stone and completed three circuits around it. This is why Quraysh used to say, as they passed by, 'They are like gazelles.' Ibn Abbas said, 'This was a practice (Sunnah) of the Prophet.'"

“During his ‘Umrah after Hudaibiyah – when they wanted to enter Makkah – the Prophet ﷺ said to his Companions: ‘Your people will see you tomorrow, so let them see you looking strong.’ When they entered the mosque, they touched the corner and started to walk briskly, and the Prophet ﷺ was with them. When they reached the Yemenite Corner, they walked normally to the Black Corner (the corner where the Black Stone is), then they walked briskly until they reached the Yemenite Corner, then they walked normally to the Black Corner. They did that three times, then they walked normally for four circuits.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2953)

(The wife of the Prophet) Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Don't you see that when your people built the Kaʿba, they did not build it on all Abraham's foundations?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Why don't you rebuild it on Abraham's foundations?" He said, "Were your people not so close to (the period of Heathenism, i.e. the Period between their being Muslims and being infidels), I would do so." The sub-narrator, ʿAbdullah bin ʿUmar said, "Aisha had surely heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying that, for I do not think that Messenger of Allah ﷺ left touching the two corners of the Kaʿba facing Al-Hijr except because the Kaʿba was not built on all Abraham's foundations." (Using translation from Bukhārī 4484)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "O Aisha, if it were not for the fact that your people had recently come out of the period of ignorance, I would have demolished the Kaaba and rebuilt it in the way it was originally built by Ibrahim. I would have placed the stone which they took out of it back into its place and made it rest on the foundation of Ibrahim. I would have also added two doors to it; one on the east side and one on the west side." This is what Ibn Zubayr called for, to demolish the Kaaba and rebuild it.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported that Allah's Apostle ﷺ and his Companions did not observe Sa'i between al-Safa' and al-Marwa but only one Sa'i. (Using translation from Muslim 1279a)

[Machine] So, I said to my father, "What were you saying?" He replied, "We used to say, 'No one can perform Hajj after the designated year except if they are a polytheist. And no one can perform Tawaf around the Kaaba naked, nor enter Paradise except if they are a believer. And whoever has a gap between themselves and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ must make up for it, and the maximum duration for making up is four months. And once four months have passed, then Allah is free from the polytheists and their beliefs, as well as His Messenger." He added, "The polytheists used to say, 'No, it's just a month,' and they would mockingly laugh about it."

He then took hold of the corner of the Kaaba with his staff, and there was no place for it in the mosque until it was taken out to the bottom of the valley, and then it was brought back. He praised and thanked Allah and said, 'After that, O people, indeed Allah has removed from you the burden of Jahiliyyah. O people, indeed mankind is divided into two: a righteous, pious, noble person in the eyes of his Lord, and a wicked, miserable person in the eyes of his Lord.' "We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no intention other than Hajj. When he was in Sarif [1] I began menstruating. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me and I was weeping. He said: 'What is the matter with you? Has your Nifas begun?' [2] I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'This is something that Allah the Mighty and Sublime has decreed for the daughter of Adam. Do what the pilgrims do, but do not perform tawaf around the House.' And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed a cow on behalf of his wives." [1] Sarif is a place between Al-Madinah and Makkah, near Makkah. [2] Here, it means menstruation. See the chapter clarifying that where it appears again, No. 349. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 290)
