13. Book of Pilgrimage (Ḥajj)
I have been commanded (to migrate) to a town (Medina) which would overpower other towns. They (the people) call it Yathrib; its correct name is (in fact) Medina. It eliminates (bad) people just as a furnace removes the alloy of iron. (Using translation from Muslim 1382a)
When Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Medina, Abu Bakr and Bilal got fever, and I went to both of them and said, "O my father, how do you feel? O Bilal, how do you feel?" Whenever Abu Bakr's fever got worse, he would say, "Every man will meet his death once in one morning while he will be among his family, for death is really nearer to him than his leather shoe laces (to his feet)." And whenever fever deserted Bilal, he would say aloud, "Would that I know whether I shall spend a night in the valley (of Mecca) with Idhkhir and Jalil (i.e. kinds of grass) around me, and whether I shall drink one day the water of Mijannah, and whether I shall see once again the hills of Shamah and Tafil?" Then I went to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him of that. He said, "O Allah, make us love Medina as much as or more than we used to love Mecca, O Allah, make it healthy and bless its Sa' and Mud (i.e. measures), and take away its fever to Al-Juhfa." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3926)
" Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast a glance at Uhud and said: Uhud is a mountain which loves us and we love it." (Using translation from Muslim 1393b)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ naming the city Tabah.
“Faith will retreat to Al-Madinah as a snake retreats to its hole.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3111)
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, Belief returns and goes back to Medina as a snake returns and goes back to its hole (when in danger). (Using translation from Bukhārī 1876)
“Faith will retreat to Al-Madinah as a snake retreats to its hole.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3111)
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Rejoice, O Muslim community! The Dajjal (false messiah) will not enter it." It means the city (referring to Medina).
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The terror of the Antichrist will not enter Medina on that day. It will have seven gates, and for each gate there will be two angels."
[Machine] "That a Bedouin pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on Islam and then the Bedouin became sick in the city. So, the Bedouin left and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, the city is like a fever that expels its impurities and leaves behind what is pure.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No one leaves it, meaning the city, out of their desire for it, except that Allah will replace it with something better for it. And the city is better for them if they only knew."
[Machine] Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will come a time upon the people when a man will invite his cousin and his close relative, saying, 'Come, let's enjoy prosperity.' But Medina is better for them if only they knew. By the One in whose hand is my soul, no one leaves Medina out of desire for something else except that Allah will replace it with something better for him. Behold, Medina is like a furnace that expels impurities, and the Hour will not be established until it expels its evils just as the furnace expels the impurities of iron."
[Machine] "A Bedouin pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for Islam, and the Bedouin contracted a disease in Medina. The Bedouin left and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, Medina is like a furnace, it drives away its impurities and refines its good.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A time is soon to come when a person will strike the livers of camels in search of knowledge, but he will not find a scholar more knowledgeable than the scholar of Madinah." Abu Musa said, "I heard from Ibn Juraij that he used to say, 'We consider Malik ibn Anas to be the most knowledgeable. I mentioned this to Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah, and he said, 'Indeed, a scholar is only someone who fears Allah, and we do not know anyone who fears Allah more than Al-Umari, who is the intended servant of Abdullah ibn Abdul Aziz.'"
“Whoever wishes bad upon the people of Al-Madinah, Allah will cause him to melt as salt melts in water.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3114)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever fears the people of Medina, Allah will fear him."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Anyone who endures the difficulties and hardships of traveling [for the sake of Allah] will have me interceding for him on the Day of Judgment."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No one endures the difficulties and hardships of Madinah and its exertions except that I will be an intercessor or a witness for him.
‘Whoever among you can die in Al-Madinah, let him do so, for I will bear witness in favor of those who die there.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3112)
[Machine] I heard Safiyyah bint Abi Ubaidah saying that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever among you is able to die only in Madinah, then let him die there, for whoever dies there, it will intercede for him and testify for him."
O Allah, bless us in our sa' and mud and shower with its blessings two other blessings (multiply blessings showerted upon it). (Using translation from Muslim 1374b)
[Machine] It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, our measure (of crops) is the smallest and our provisions are the least." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, bless our measure, our provisions, our small amount, and our abundance, and bestow upon us double blessings."

We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and when we were in the Harrah, at as-Suqya (a halting place between Makkah and Madinah) which belonged to Saʿd bin Abi Waqqas, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿBring me some water for wudoo’.” When he had done wudoo he stood up and turned to face the qiblah, then he said takbeer, then he said: O Allah, Ibrahim was Your slave and Your close friend; he prayed for blessing for the people of Makkah. I am Muhammad, Your slave and Your Messenger; I am praying to You for the people of Madinah - bless their mudd and saʿ [weights and measures] as You blessed the people of Makkah, double the blessing You bestowed upon the people of Makkah, a twofold blessing.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 936)
“When the people would see the first fruit, they would bring it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would take it, he would say: ‘O Allah, bless for us our fruits, and bless for us our city, and bless for us our Saʿ and our Mudd, O Allah, verily, Ibrahim is Your worshipper and Your friend and Your Prophet, and verily I am Your slave and Your Prophet, and indeed, he (i.e., Ibrahim AS) supplicated to You for Makkah, and I supplicate to You for Al-Madinah with the like of that with which he supplicated to You for Makkah, and the like of it with it.’ He said: Then he would call the smallest young child he saw and give him that fruit. (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3454)

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Between my house and my pulpit there is a garden of the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit is on my fountain tank (i.e. Al-Kauthar)." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1196)
If I saw deers grazing in Medina, I would not chase them, for Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "(Medina) is a sanctuary between its two mountains." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1873)
[Machine] We have sheep and young men, and they are hitting their sheep with this fruit called "thamara al-hubla" which is a type of tamarind.
