Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fasting is a shield (or a screen or a shelter). So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, 'I am fasting."

The Prophet ﷺ added, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. (Allah says about the fasting person), 'He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ: فَلاَ يَرْفُثْ، وَلاَ يَجْهَلْ؛ وَإِنِ امْرُؤٌ قَاتَلَهُ أَوْ شَاتَمَهُ فَلْيَقُلْ: إِنِّي صَائِمٌ مَرَّتَيْنِ».

«وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ: يَتْرُكُ طَعَامَهُ، وَشَرَابَهُ، وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي؛ الصِّيَامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا».

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah said: The Fast is for Me and I will give the reward for it, as he (the one who observes the fast) leaves his sexual desire, food and drink for My Sake. Fasting is a screen (from Hell) and there are two pleasures for a fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord. And the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better in Allah's Sight than the smell of musk." (See Hadith No. 128, Vol. 3).

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ ﷻ الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَدَعُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَأَكْلَهُ وَشُرْبَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يُفْطِرُ وَفَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يَلْقَى رَبَّهُ وَلَخَلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

Allah the Exalted and Majestic said: Every act of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting. It is (exclusively) meant for Me and I (alone) will reward it. Fasting is a shield. When any one of you is fasting on a day, he should neither indulge in obscene language, nor raise the voice; or if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him he should say: I am a person fasting. By Him, in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad, the breath of the observer of fast is sweeter to Allah on the Day of judgment than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts has two (occasions) of joy, one when he breaks the fast he is glad with the breaking of (the fast) and one when he meets his Lord he is glad with his fast.

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ إِلاَّ الصِّيَامَ فَإِنَّهُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ فَإِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ صَوْمِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلاَ يَرْفُثْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلاَ يَسْخَبْ فَإِنْ سَابَّهُ أَحَدٌ أَوْ قَاتَلَهُ فَلْيَقُلْ إِنِّي امْرُؤٌ صَائِمٌ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ يَفْرَحُهُمَا إِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ بِفِطْرِهِ وَإِذَا لَقِيَ رَبَّهُ فَرِحَ بِصَوْمِهِ

Every (good) deed of the son of Adam would be multiplied, a good deed receiving a tenfold to seven hundredfold reward. Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, has said: With the exception of fasting, for it is done for Me and I will give a reward for it, for one abandons his passion and food for My sake.

There are two occasions of joy for one who fasts, joy when he breaks it, and joy when he meets his Lord, and the breath (of an observer of fast) is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ يُضَاعَفُ الْحَسَنَةُ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِمِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ۔ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ: إِلاَّ الصَّوْمَ: فَإِنَّهُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ: يَدَعُ شَهْوَتَهُ، وَطَعَامَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي۔»

«لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ فِطْرِهِ وَفَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ لِقَاءِ رَبِّهِ؛ وَلَخُلُوفُ فِيهِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ۔»

Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, said: Fast (is exclusively) meant for Me and I would give its reward. There are two (occasions) of joy for the observer of fast. He feels joy when he breaks the fast and he is happy when he meets Allah. By Allah in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad, the breath of the observer of fast is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk.

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ ؓ قَالاَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الصَّوْمَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ إِنَّ لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَيْنِ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ وَإِذَا لَقِيَ اللَّهَ فَرِحَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, says: 'Fasting is for me and I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord.' By the One in whose hand is my soul, the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." '

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَقُولُ الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ حِينَ يُفْطِرُ وَحِينَ يَلْقَى رَبَّهُ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"Allah, may He be exalted, said: 'Fasting is for me and I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. And the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk."' '

اللَّهُ ﷻ الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يَلْقَى رَبَّهُ وَفَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ إِفْطَارِهِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"The Prophet said: 'Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, says: Fasting is for me I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." '

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَقُولُ الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ وَإِذَا لَقِيَ اللَّهَ فَجَزَاهُ فَرِحَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"(Allah says) fasting is for me and I shall reward for it. The fasting person rejoices twice: when he breaks his fast and the day when he meets his Lord. And the smell that come from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." '

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الصِّيَامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالصَّائِمُ يَفْرَحُ مَرَّتَيْنِ عِنْدَ فِطْرِهِ وَيَوْمَ يَلْقَى اللَّهَ وَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"There is no good deed that the son of Adam does, but between ten and seven hundred Hasanahs will be recorded for him. Allah, the mighty and sublime, said: 'Except fasing, for it is for me and I shall reward for it. He gives up his desires and his food for my sake. Fasting is a shield, and the fasting person has two moments of joy. One when he breaks his fast and another when he meets his Lord. And the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." '

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا مِنْ حَسَنَةٍ عَمِلَهَا ابْنُ آدَمَ إِلاَّ كُتِبَ لَهُ عَشْرُ حَسَنَاتٍ إِلَى سَبْعِمِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ إِلاَّ الصِّيَامَ فَإِنَّهُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَدَعُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَطَعَامَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ فِطْرِهِ وَفَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ لِقَاءِ رَبِّهِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: '(Allah says) Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting; it is for me and I shall reward for it. Fasting is a shield. If any one of you is fasting, let him no utter obscene talk or raise his voice in anger, and if anyone insults him or wants to fight, let him say: I am fasting. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast he rejoices at breaking his fast and when he meets his Lord, the Mighty and Sublime, he will rejoice at having fasted." '

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ إِلاَّ الصِّيَامَ هُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ صِيَامِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلاَ يَرْفُثْ وَلاَ يَصْخَبْ فَإِنْ شَاتَمَهُ أَحَدٌ أَوْ قَاتَلَهُ فَلْيَقُلْ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ يَفْرَحُهُمَا إِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ بِفِطْرِهِ وَإِذَا لَقِيَ رَبَّهُ ﷻ فَرِحَ بِصَوْمِهِ

“Every good deed of the son of Adam will be multiplied manifold. A good deed will be multiplied ten times up to as many as seven hundred times, or as much as Allah wills. Allah says: ‘Except for fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it. He gives up his desire and his food for My sake.’ The fasting person has two joys, one when he breaks his fast and another when he meets his Lord. The smell that comes from the mouth of a fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ يُضَاعَفُ الْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِمِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَى مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ إِلاَّ الصَّوْمَ فَإِنَّهُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَدَعُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَطَعَامَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ فِطْرِهِ وَفَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ لِقَاءِ رَبِّهِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"Allah, may He be exalted, said: 'Fasting is for me and I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. And the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk."' ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2212)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ فِطْرِهِ وَفَرْحَةٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah, the Most High, says: 'Every action of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting. It is for Me and I shall reward for it. Verily, he gives up his desires and food for My sake.' The fasting person has two moments of joy: one when he breaks his fast and another when he meets his Lord. Indeed, the smell coming from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ فَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ هُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ إِنَّهُ يَتْرُكُ الطَّعَامَ وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَيَتْرُكُ الشَّرَابَ وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ

“Every good deed of the son of Adam will be multiplied manifold. A good deed will be multiplied ten times up to as many as seven hundred times, or as much as Allah wills. Allah says: ‘Except for fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it. He gives up his desire and his food for My sake.’ The fasting person has two joys, one when he breaks his fast and another when he meets his Lord. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ جَعَلَ حَسَنَةَ ابْنِ آدَمَ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَّا الصَّوْمَ وَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ إِفْطَارِهِ وَفَرْحَةٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"The Prophet said: 'Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, says: Fasting is for me I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2213)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الصَّوْمَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ إِنَّ لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَيْنِإِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ وَإِذَا لَقِيَ اللهَ فَجَزَاهُ فَرِحَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ who said, "A good deed is worth ten like it and fasting is for Me and I will reward it. The person observing fasting leaves his desires and food and drink for My sake. Fasting is for Me and I will reward it. The odor in the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا وَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَذَرُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ بِجَرَّايَ قَالَ يَزِيدُ مِنْ أَجْلِي الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ عِنْدَ اللهِ أَطْيَبُ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

[AI] And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah ﷻ says, "Every action of the son of Adam is for him except fasting, for it is for Me and I shall reward for it. Fasting is a shield. By Him, in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, the breath of one observing Saum is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts two days willingly for the sake of Allah, Allah will keep him away from the fire of Hell.

وَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللهُ ﷻ كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ إِنَّمَا يَتْرُكُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَصِيَامُهُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ كُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Allah, the mighty and sublime, said: Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting; it is for me and I shall reward for it. By the one in whose hand is the soul of Muhmmad, the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2218)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللهُ ﷻكُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ الصِّيَامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

[AI] And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the breath of the fasting person is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The fasting person abstains from their desires, food, and drink for My sake, and I will reward them for it."

وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ يَذَرُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَطَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ مِنْ جَرَّايَ فَالصِّيَامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللهُ ﷻ الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَدَعُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يُفْطِرُ وَفَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يَلْقَى اللهَ ﷻ وَلَخُلُوفُ فِيهِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "A good deed is rewarded ten times its value, and fasting is for Me, and I reward it. The one who fasts leaves his desires and food and drink for My sake. Fasting is for Me, and I reward it. The smell from the mouth of the fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا وَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَذَرُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ بجَرَّايَ الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ عِنْدَ اللهِ أَطْيَبُ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, your Lord says, 'O son of Adam, with each good deed you do, I will multiply it tenfold up to seven hundred times, and fasting is for Me and I will reward for it. Fasting is a shield from the Hellfire, and the odor from the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk. If someone insults or harms you while you are fasting, say, 'I am fasting.''"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ ﷻ يَقُولُ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ بِكُلِّ حَسَنَةٍ عَشْرُ حَسَنَاتٍ إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَى أَضْعَافٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ مِنَ النَّارِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ ﷻ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ وَإِنْ جَهِلَ عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ جَاهِلٌ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَلْيَقُلْ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ

“Every good deed of the son of Adam will be multiplied manifold. A good deed will be multiplied ten times up to as many as seven hundred times, or as much as Allah wills. Allah says: ‘Except for fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it. He gives up his desire and his food for My sake.’ The fasting person has two joys, one when he breaks his fast and another when he meets his Lord. [AI] "Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that Allah says, 'Fasting is for Me and I alone reward for it. The smell from the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَعْنِي اللهَ يَقُولُ اللهُ ﷻ الصَّوْمُ هُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, the scent of the fasting person's mouth is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk. He says, 'The fasting person abstains from their desires, food, and drink for My sake. Fasting is for Me and I will reward it accordingly, with every good deed being multiplied ten times to seven hundred times, except for fasting, which is for Me and I will reward it.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ يَقُولُ ﷻ إِنَّمَا يَذَرُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَطَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ كُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ

"Allah, may He be exalted, said: 'Fasting is for me and I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. And the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk."' ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2212)

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "Every good deed that the son of Adam performs will be multiplied ten times, up to seven hundred times, except for fasting, which is for Me and I will reward for it. He abandons his food, drink, and desires for My sake, so it is for Me and I will reward for it. Fasting is a shield, and for the one who fasts there are two moments of joy: a moment of joy when he breaks his fast and a moment of joy when he meets his Lord. Indeed, the bad breath of the one who fasts, while he is fasting, is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ كُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ يَعْمَلُهَا ابْنُ آدَمَ عَشْرُ حَسَنَاتٍ إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ حَسَنَةٍ يَقُولُ اللهُ ﷻ إِلَّا الصَّوْمَ هُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَدَعُ الطَّعَامَ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَالشَّرَابَ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يُفْطِرُ وَفَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يَلْقَى رَبَّهُ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ حِينَ يَخْلُفُ عَنِ الطَّعَامِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"Allah, may He be exalted, said: 'Fasting is for me and I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. And the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk."' ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2212)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ *لِلصَّائِمِ **فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ **عِنْدَ **فِطْرِهِ *وَفَرْحَةٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ *عِنْدَ *اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah said, 'Every action of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting. It is for Me and I shall reward for it. He leaves his food, drink, and desires for My sake. Fasting is for Me and I shall reward for it accordingly.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللهُ ﷻ كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ فَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍإِلَّا الصِّيَامَ هُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَتْرُكُ الطَّعَامَ لِشَهْوَتِهِ مِنْ أَجْلِى وَيَتْرُكُ الشَّرَابَ لِشَهْوَتِهِ مِنْ أَجْلِى هُوَ لِى وَأَنَا أَجْزِى بِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A good deed is multiplied by ten of its like, and fasting is for Me and I alone will reward it. A person leaves his food and drink for My sake, so fasting is for Me and I alone will reward it. The odor of the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا وَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ إِنَّهُ يَذَرُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: '(Allah says) Every deed of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting; it is for me and I shall reward for it. Fasting is a shield. If any one of you is fasting, let him no utter obscene talk or raise his voice in anger, and if anyone insults him or wants to fight, let him say: I am fasting. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast he rejoices at breaking his fast and when he meets his Lord, the Mighty and Sublime, he will rejoice at having fasted." قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ وَالصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ يَفْرَحُهُمَا إِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ بِفِطْرِهِ وَإِذَا لَقِيَ رَبَّهُ ﷻ فَرِحَ بِصَوْمِهِ

[AI] "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: By the One in Whose hand is my soul, the smell from the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk. He leaves his food, drink, and desires for My sake. The fasting is for Me and I will reward it. Every good deed is rewarded ten times its like, up to seven hundred times, except for fasting, as it is for Me and I will reward it."

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ يَذَرُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَالصِّيَامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ كُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ

"The Prophet said: 'Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, says: Fasting is for me I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2213)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الصَّوْمَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ إِنَّ لِلصَّائِمِفَرْحَتَيْنِ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ وَإِذَا لَقِيَ اللهَ فَجَزَاهُ فَرِحَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

[AI] "On the authority of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ , he said, 'The smell of the breath of a fasting person is more pleasing to Allah than the scent of musk.' He said, 'This person has fasted for my sake and has abandoned his desires for food and drink for my sake. The fasting is for me and I shall reward it.'"

عَنْ نَبِيِّ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ فَيْحِ الْمِسْكِ قَالَ صَامَ هَذَا مِنْ أَجْلِي وَتَرَكَ شَهْوَتَهُ عَنِ الطَّعَامِ وَالشَّرَابِ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in Whose hand my self is, the smell of the breath of a man fasting is better with Allah than the scent of musk.' He leaves his desires and his food and drink for My sake. Fasting is for Me and I reward it. Every good action is rewarded by ten times its kind, up to seven hundred times, except fasting, which is for Me, and I reward it.' "

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ إِنَّمَا يَذَرُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَطَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَالصِّيَامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ كُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِمِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلاَّ الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ

"The Prophet said: 'Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, says: Fasting is for me I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2213)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ بِفِطْرِهِ وَإِذَا لَقِيَ اللَّهَ فَرِحَ بِصَوْمِهِ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Every good deed that the son of Adam performs will be multiplied ten times up to seven hundred times, except for fasting. عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «كُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ يَعْمَلُهَا ابْنُ آدَمَ بِعَشْرِ حَسَنَاتٍ إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا الصَّوْمَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَدَعُ الطَّعَامَ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَالشَّرَابَ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يُفْطِرُ وَفَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يَلْقَى رَبَّهُ وَلَخُلُوفِ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ حِينَ يَخْلُفُ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ»

[AI] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said that Allah Almighty narrates: 'Fasting is a shield by which My servant protects himself from the Fire, and fasting is for Me, and I will reward for it. The person fasting gives up their food and desires for My sake. By the One in whose hand is my soul, the smell emanating from the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah on the Day of Resurrection than the fragrance of musk.'"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَرْوِي عَنْ رَبِّهِ تَعَالَى «الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ يُجَنُّ بِهَا عَبْدِي مِنَ النَّارِ وَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَدَعُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ عِنْدَ اللهِ ﷻ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَطْيَبُ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ»

[AI] Narrated Ibn Mas'ud: The Prophet ﷺ said, "There are two joys for the fasting person: a joy when he breaks his fast and a joy when he meets his Lord. And the odor of the mouth of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk."

عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ بَلَغَ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ؛ فَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ فِطْرِهِ وَفَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يَلْقَى رَبَّهُ وَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ»

"Allah, may He be exalted, said: 'Fasting is for me and I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. And the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk."' ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2212)

اللهُ الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يَلْقَى رَبَّهُ وَفَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ إِفْطَارِهِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"The Prophet said: 'Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, says: Fasting is for me I shall reward for it. The fasting person has two moments of joy: When he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2213)

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ يَقُولُ الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ لِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ فَرِحَ وَإِذَا لَقِيَ اللهَ فَجَزَاهُ فَرَح وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"(Allah says) fasting is for me and I shall reward for it. The fasting person rejoices twice: when he breaks his fast and the day when he meets his Lord. And the smell that come from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2214)

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ اللهُ الصِّيَامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالصَّائِمُ يُفْرَحُ مَرَّتَيْنِ عِنْدَ فِطْرِهِ وَيَوْمَ يَلْقَى اللهَ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

"There is no good deed that the son of Adam does, but between ten and seven hundred Hasanahs will be recorded for him. Allah, the mighty and sublime, said: 'Except fasing, for it is for me and I shall reward for it. He gives up his desires and his food for my sake. Fasting is a shield, and the fasting person has two moments of joy. One when he breaks his fast and another when he meets his Lord. And the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk." ' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2215)

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا مِنْ حَسَنَةٍ يَعْمَلُهَا ابْنُ آدَمَ إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُ عَشْرُ حَسَنَاتٍ إِلَى سَبْعِمِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ قَالَ اللهُ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَإِنَّهُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَدَعُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَطَعَامَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ فِطْرِهِ وَفَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ لِقَاءِ رَبِّهِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah said: The Fast is for Me and I will give the reward for it, as he (the one who observes the fast) leaves his sexual desire, food and drink for My Sake. Fasting is a screen (from Hell) and there are two pleasures for a fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord. And the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better in Allah's Sight than the smell of musk." (See Hadith No. 128, Vol. 3). (Using translation from Bukhārī 7492)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللهُ الصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ يَدَعُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَأَكْلَهُ وَشُرْبَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يُفْطِرُ وَفَرْحَةٌ حِينَ يَلْقَى اللهَ وَلَخُلُوفُ فِيهِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

[AI] "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is more beloved to Allah than the scent of musk. Allah says, 'The fasting person abandons their desires, food, and drink for My sake. Fasting is for Me and I will reward it accordingly. Every good deed is rewarded ten times its value, up to seven hundred times, except for fasting, for it is for Me and I will reward it.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ يَقُولُ اللهُ ﷻ إِنَّمَا يَتْرُكُ شَهْوَتَهُ وَطَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي وَالصِّيَامُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ كُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ بِعَشْرَةِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِمِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ

“Every good deed of the son of Adam will be multiplied manifold. A good deed will be multiplied ten times up to as many as seven hundred times, or as much as Allah wills. Allah says: ‘Except for fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it. He gives up his desire and his food for My sake.’ The fasting person has two joys, one when he breaks his fast and another when he meets his Lord. The smell that comes from the mouth of a fasting person is better before Allah than the fragrance of musk.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1638)
