Not for you, ˹O Muhammad, but for Allah˺, is the decision whether He should ˹cut them down˺ or forgive them or punish them, for indeed, they are wrongdoers.

When, on the Day of Uhud, the Prophet received a head wound and his front tooth was broken, and he said, ‘How does a people who have drenched the face of their Prophet in blood ˹expect to˺ prosper?’, the following was revealed: It is no concern at all of yours, nay, it is God’s concern, so be patient, whether, meaning, until such time as, He relents to them, through ˹their acceptance of˺ Islam, or chastises them; for they are indeed evildoers, by ˹virtue of their˺ disbelief.

القرآن:٣:١٢٨

لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ

ونزلت لما كسرت رباعيته ﷺ وشج وجهه يوم أحد وقال: "" كيف يفلح قوم خضبوا وجه نبيهم بالدم "" (ليس لك من الأمر شيء) بل الأمر لله فاصبر (أو) بمعنى إلى أن (يتوب عليهم) بالإسلام (أو يعذبهم فإنهم ظالمون) بالكفر.

الكبرى للنسائي:١١٠٠٩أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُكَبِّرُ حِينَ يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ مِنَ الرَّكْعَةِ الْأَخِيرَةِ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ الْعَنْ فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا» دَعَا عَلَى نَاسٍ مِنَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ} [آل عمران 128]

That he heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when raising his head from bowing of the first rakʿa of the morning prayer, saying, "O Allah! Curse so-and-so and so-and-so" after he had said, "Allah hears him who sends his praises to Him. Our Lord, all the Praises are for you!" So Allah revealed:-- "Not for you (O Muhammad! )......(till the end of Verse) they are indeed wrong-doers." (3.128) (Using translation from Bukhārī 4069)

[AI] Anas said that the cheek of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was fractured on the day of Uhud and bled, and he wiped away the blood from his face and said, "How can a people succeed who have smeared the face of their Prophet while he is calling them to Islam?" So Allah revealed, "It is not for you [O Muhammad], to decide a matter. If it had been an immediate decision, they would have been judged immediately. But to Allah belongs the outcome of [all] affairs. Or He will give them repentance and forgiveness, for indeed they have been wrongdoers." [Quran 3:128] The wording is from Khalid.

قَالَ أَنَسٌ كُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ وَشُجَّ فَجَعَلَ الدَّمُ يَسِيلُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ وَمَسَحَ الدَّمَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ وَيَقُولُ «كَيْفَ يُفْلِحُ قَوْمٌ خَضَبُوا وَجْهَ نَبِيِّهِمْ وَهُوَ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ؟» فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى {لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ} [آل عمران 128] اللَّفْظُ لِخَالِدٍ

"عَنِ ابْن عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ قَامَ في صَلاَةِ الْفَجْرِ حينَ رَفَعَ رَأسَهُ مِنَ الرَّكْعَةِ لَمَّا قَالَ: رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، وَفِى الرَّكْعَةِ الآخِرَة قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ فُلاَنًا وَفُلاَنًا، دَعَا عَلَى نَاسٍ مِنَ الْمُنَافِقيِنَ، فَأَنْزلَ الله {لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ} ".
