who was born during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ that his mother, Zainab bint Humaid had taken him to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Take his Pledge of allegiance (for Islam)." The Prophet ﷺ said, "He (ʿAbdullah bin Hisham) is a little child," and passed his hand over his head and invoked Allah for him. ʿAbdullah bin Hisham used to slaughter one sheep as a sacrifice on behalf of all of his family.  

عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَذَهَبَتْ بِهِ أُمُّهُ زَيْنَبُ ابْنَةُ حُمَيْدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَايِعْهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ هُوَ صَغِيرٌ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَدَعَا لَهُ وَكَانَ يُضَحِّي بِالشَّاةِ الْوَاحِدَةِ عَنْ جَمِيعِ أَهْلِهِ  

who was a Companion, reported that his mother Zainab daughter of Humain went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah, receive the oath of allegiance from him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He is Minor. He then wiped his head.  

وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَذَهَبَتْ بِهِ أُمُّهُ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ حُمَيْدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَايِعْهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ هُوَ صَغِيرٌ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ

[Machine] Translation: Abdullah ibn Hisham narrated that the Prophet ﷺ discovered that his mother brought him to him, so he wiped his head and prayed for him. As a result, he would sacrifice one sheep for the sake of his entire family.  

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ وَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَنَّ أُمَّهُ أَتَتْ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَدَعَا لَهُ» فَكَانَ يُضَحِّي بِالشَّاةِ الْوَاحِدَةِ عَنْ جَمِيعِ أَهْلِهِ  

[Machine] From his grandfather Abdullah bin Hisham, who had witnessed the Prophet ﷺ , his mother Zainab bint Hameed took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was young. The Prophet ﷺ wiped his head and prayed for him saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sacrifice one sheep on behalf of his entire family." All of these hadiths are authentic in terms of their chains of narrators regarding the permissibility of offering one sheep as a sacrifice on behalf of a group that is too numerous to count, contrary to those who assume that it is only permissible for an individual. There are narrations that indicate the permissibility of offering a sacrifice on behalf of the deceased as well.  

عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ذَهَبَتْ بِهِ أُمُّهُ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ حُمَيْدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ صَغِيرٌ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَدَعَا لَهُ قَالَ «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُضَحِّي بِالشَّاةِ الْوَاحِدَةِ عَنْ جَمِيعِ أَهْلِهِ» هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثُ كُلُّهَا صَحِيحَةُ الْأَسَانِيدِ فِي الرُّخْصَةِ فِي الْأُضْحِيَّةِ بِالشَّاةِ الْوَاحِدَةِ عَنِ الْجَمَاعَةِ الَّتِي لَا يُحْصَى عَدَدُهُمْ خِلَافَ مَنْ يَتَوَهَّمُ أَنَّهَا لَا تُجْزِئُ إِلَّا عَنِ الْوَاحِدِ وَقَدْ رُوِيَتْ أَخْبَارٌ فِي الْأُضْحِيَّةِ عَنِ الْأَمْوَاتِ صحيح  

[Machine] About his grandfather Abdullah bin Hisham, he had met the Prophet ﷺ and his mother Zainab bint Humeid took him to the Prophet ﷺ. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, he is young." So the Prophet ﷺ wiped his head and prayed for him.

"عَنْ أَبِى عَقِيلٍ زُهْرَةَ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ هِشَامٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ وَذهَبَتْ بِهِ أُمُّهُ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ حُمَيْد إِلَى رَسُولِ الله ﷺ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ الله بَايِعْهُ - فَقَالَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ : هَذَا صَغِيرٌ وَمَسَحَ رَأسَهُ وَدَعَا لَهُ، وَكَانَ يُضَحِّى بِالشَّاةِ الْوَاحِدَة عَنْ جَمِيعِ أَهْلِهِ".
