While delivering a sermon, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If anyone of you comes while the Imam is delivering the sermon or has come out for it, he should offer a two rakʿat prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ أَوْ قَدْ خَرَجَ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

When any one of you comes for the Friday (prayer) and the Imam comes out (from his apartment), (even then) should observe two rak'ahs (of prayer).

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَطَبَ فَقَالَ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَقَدْ خَرَجَ الإِمَامُ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

Sulaik Ghatafani came on Friday when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon. He (Sulaik) sat down. He (the Holy Prophet) said to him: 0 Sulaik I stand and observe two rak'ahs and make them short, and then said: When any one of you comes on Friday, while the Imam delivers the sermon, he should observe two rak'ahs and should make them short.

جَاءَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَجَلَسَ فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا سُلَيْكُ قُمْ فَارْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَتَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَالإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When one of you gets up at night, he should begin the prayer with two short rak'ahs.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Anyone of you attending the Friday (prayers) should take a bath." (Using translation from Bukhārī 877)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ»

[AI] When Sulaykah came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering a sermon, so he sat down. The Prophet ﷺ commanded him to pray two rak'ahs. Muhammad ﷺ mentioned in his hadith that Sulaykah then turned towards the people and said, "When one of you comes and the Imam is delivering a sermon, let him pray two rak'ahs as a precaution."

أَنَّ سُلَيْكًا جَاءَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَجَلَسَ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ يَتَجَوَّزُ فِيهِمَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you comes to Jumu'ah prayer and the Imam is delivering the sermon, let him pray two light rak'ahs."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ

جَاءَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَجَلَسَ فَقَالَ لَهُ «يَا سُلَيْكُ قُمْ فَارْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَتَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا» ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: When one of you gets up at night, he should begin the prayer with two short rak'ahs. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1323)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِرَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ»

[AI] Sulayk al-Ghatafani came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon. The Prophet ﷺ told him, "Pray two rak'ahs and make them brief."

جَاءَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said while delivering a sermon, "When one of you comes on the day of Friday and the imam is delivering the sermon or has already come out, then he should pray two rak'ahs."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ «إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ أَوْ قَدْ خَرَجَ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

[AI] Salik Al-Ghatafani came while the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon, so the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to pray two units of prayer in which he would perform acts of tashahhud. He said, "When any of you comes while the imam is delivering the sermon, let him pray two units of prayer in which he would perform acts of tashahhud."

جَاءَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ يَتَجَوَّزُ فِيهِمَا وَقَالَ «إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ يَتَجَوَّزُ فِيهِمَا»

[AI] Sulayk al-Ghatafani came while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the Friday sermon and he (Sulayk) said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ , did you pray the two Rak'ahs?" He (the Messenger of Allah) replied, "No." He (Sulayk) said, "Get up and pray two Rak'ahs, then make them brief." He also said, "When any one of you comes while the Imam is delivering the sermon, he should pray two Rak'ahs and make them brief." This is a wording attributed to 'Isa bin Yunus.

جَاءَ سُلَيْكٌ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَصَلَّيْتَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ؟ فَقَالَ لَا قَالَ قُمْ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَتَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا وَقَالَ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ فِيهِمَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ عِيسَى بْنِ يُونُسَ

"إذَا جاءَ أحدُكم يومَ الجُمعةِ والإِمامُ يخطُب فليُصَلِّ ركْعَتين، ولْيَتَجَوَّزْ فيهما" .

"صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تَجَوَّزْ فِيهِما، وإِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ والإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ يَومَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَلْيُصلِّ رَكْعَتَين وَلُيُخَفِّفْهُما".

"يَا نُعْمَانُ! صَلِّ رَكعَتَيْنِ تَجَوَّزْ فيهِمَا، وإِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَليُصَلّ رَكْعَتَينِ وَلْيُخَفِّفْهُمَا".
