14. Addendum to the Anṣār
١٤۔ الملحق المستدرك من مسند الأنصار
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "There is no odd number of Witr prayers in one night."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا وِتْرَانِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A woman should not prevent her husband, and he said, 'His need may increase even if it is on the back of a camel.'"
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَمْنَعِ الْمَرْأَةُ زَوْجَهَا وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ مَرَّةً حَاجَتَهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَتَبٍ
[Machine] A man asked the Prophet ﷺ about praying in one garment while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was wearing two garments. So, he (the man) split them apart and wrapped himself with one of them, then he prayed in it. Then, when he finished the prayer and said the greetings, he said, "Can any one of you find two garments?"
أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ وَعَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثَوْبَانِ فَطَارَقَ بَيْنَهُمَا فَتَوَشَّحَ بِهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى فِيهِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَالَ أَكُلُّكُمْ يَجِدُ ثَوْبَيْنِ؟
Qays ibn Talq said: Talq ibn Ali visited us on a certain day during Ramadan. He remained with us till evening and broke fast with us. He then stood up and led us in the witr prayer. He then went to his mosque and led them in prayer. When the witr remained, he put forward another man and said: Lead your companions in the witr prayer, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: There are no two witrs during one night. أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا وِتْرَانِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "A woman should not prevent her husband, even if he is on the back of a camel."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَمْنَعِ امْرَأَةٌ زَوْجَهَا وَلَو كَانَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَتَبٍ
his father said: I heard Messenger of Allah saying: "There are no two Witr in one night." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 470)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا وِتْرَانِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ
[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ after midday and said, "O Prophet of Allah, can one of us pray while wearing only one garment?" The Prophet remained silent until the afternoon approached, then he loosened his lower garment and used it to cover himself from his shoulders to his ankles. After he completed the Asr prayer and departed, he asked, "Where is he? Where is the person who asked about praying with only one garment?" A man said, "O Prophet of Allah, it was me." The Prophet said, "Does everyone among you have two garments?"
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ يُصَلِّي أَحَدُنَا فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ؟ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى إِذَا حَضَرَ الْعَصْرُ حَلَّ إِزَارَهُ فَطَارَقَ بَيْنَ مِلْحَفَتِهِ وَإِزَارِهِ ثُمَّ تَوَشَّحَ بِهِمَا عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْهِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ وَانْصَرَفَ قَالَ أَيْنَ؟ يَعْنِي أَيْنَ هَذَا السَّائِلُ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ؟ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ أَنَا يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ فَقَالَ أَوَكُلُّ النَّاسِ يَجِدُ ثَوْبَيْنِ؟
[Machine] "A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, 'O Prophet of Allah, how should one perform ablution if he touches his private parts?' The Prophet ﷺ replied, 'Is it anything but a part of you or your body?'"
أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ أَيَتَوَضَّأُ أَحَدُنَا إِذَا مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ؟ قَالَ هَلْ هُوَ إِلَّا بَضْعَةٌ مِنْكَ أَوْ مِنْ جَسَدِكَ ؟
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The dawn is not the white that spreads, but rather it is the redness."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ الْفَجْرُ بِالْأَبْيَضِ الْمُعْتَرِضِ وَلَكِنَّهُ الْأَحْمَرُ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say the salam to his right so that the whiteness of his cheek could be seen, and to his left so that the whiteness of his cheek could be seen." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1323)
كَانَ رَسُولًُ اللهِ ﷺ يُسَلِّمُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ وَبَيَاضُ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْسَرِ
[Machine] A delegation set out to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until they reached him and informed him that they had made a pledge of allegiance in their land and had obtained a portion of his sacred water as a blessing. He called for water, performed ablution and rinsed his mouth, then poured the water into a container and said, "Take this water and when you reach your land, break your pledge of allegiance and pour this water in its place, making it a mosque." They said, "O Prophet of Allah, we are leaving during a time of intense heat and drought, and the water dries up." He said, "Extend it with water, for it will remain in abundance and plentiful." They said, "So we left until we reached our land, broke our pledge of allegiance, poured the water in its place, and made it a mosque."
أَنَّهُ انْطَلَقَ وَفْدٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى أَتَوْهُ فَأَخْبَرُوهُ أَنَّ بِأَرْضِهِمْ بَيْعَةً وَاسْتَوْهَبُوهُ مِنْ طَهُورِهِ فَضْلِهً فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأ وَتَمَضْمَضَ ثُمَّ صَبَّهُ فِي إِدَاوَةٍ وَقَالَ اذْهَبُوا بِهَذَا الْمَاءِ فَإِذَا قَدِمْتُمْ بَلَدَكُمْ فَاكْسِرُوا بِيعَتَكُمْ وَانْضَحُوا مَكَانَهَا مِنْ هَذَا الْمَاءِ وَاتَّخِذُوهَا مَسْجِدًا قَالَ قُلْنَا يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّا نَخْرُجُ فِي زَمَانٍ كَثِيرِ السَّمُومِ وَالْحَرِّ وَالْمَاءُ يُنَشَّفُ قَالَ فَمُدُّوهُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَإِنَّهُ يَبْقَى مِنْهُ شَدِيدٌ كَثِيرٌ رَطْبٌ قَالَ فَخَرَجْنَا حَتَّى بَلَغْنَا بَلَدَنَا فَكَسَرْنَا بِيعَتَنَا وَنَضَحْنَا مَكَانَهَا بِذَلِكَ الْمَاءِ وَاتَّخَذْنَاهَا مَسْجِدًا
[Machine] I built the mosque with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he used to say, "Make the walls closer to the clay, for it is the best material for it and the strongest on the shoulders."
بَنَيْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ قَرَّبِ الْيَمَامِيَّ مِنَ الطِّينِ فَإِنَّهُ أَحْسَنُكُمْ لَهُ مَسًّا وَأَشَدُّكُمْ مَنْكِبًا
[Machine] When we used to pray with the Prophet of Allah ﷺ , we would see the whiteness of his right cheek and the whiteness of his left cheek.
كُنَّا إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ نَبِيِّ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَيْنَا بَيَاضَ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ وَبَيَاضَ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْسَرِ
[Machine] A scorpion bit me in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, so he healed me and wiped it [the bite].
لَدَغَتْنِي عَقْرَبٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَرَقَانِي وَمَسَحَهَا
[Machine] He informed him that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, can one of us pray in a single garment?" He remained silent, and when the call for prayer was announced, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ tied two garments together and prayed in them.
أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُصَلِّي أَحَدُنَا فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍِ؟ فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ فَلَمَّا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ قَالَ طَارَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَ ثَوْبَيْنِ فَصَلَّى فِيهِمَا
[Machine] "I came to the Prophet ﷺ and his companions while they were building the mosque. It seemed that he was not pleased with their work. So, I took the trowel and mixed it with clay, and it seemed that he was pleased with my taking the trowel and my work. He said, 'Leave the Hanafi and the clay, for indeed, he is the best of you when it comes to working with clay.'"
جِئْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابُهُ يَبْنُونَ الْمَسْجِدَ قَالَ فَكَأَنَّهُ لَمْ يُعْجِبْهُ عَمَلُهُمْ قَالَ فَأَخَذْتُ الْمِسْحَاةَ فَخَلَطْتُبِهَا الطِّينَ فَكَأَنَّهُ أَعْجَبَهُ أَخْذِي الْمِسْحَاة وَعَمَلِي فَقَالَ دَعُوا الْحَنَفِيَّ وَالطِّينَ فَإِنَّهُ أَضْبًَطُكُمْ لِلطِّينِ
[Machine] He (Abdul Qays) was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , when Suhaar (a clan) came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about a drink that we make from our fruits?" The Prophet turned away from him three times. Then he got up and prayed. After he finished his prayer, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever asks about alcoholic drinks, do not drink it or give it to your Muslim brother. By the One in whose hand is my soul, by Allah, anyone who drinks it seeking pleasure from its intoxication, Allah will make him drink from the river of wine on the Day of Resurrection."
أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ جَالِسًا فَجَاءَ صُحَارُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا تَرَى فِي شَرَابٍ نَصْنَعُهُ بِأَرْضِنَا مِنْ ثِمَارِنَا؟ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى سَأَلَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ حَتَّى قَامَ فَصَلَّى فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهَ قَالَ النَّبِيًُّ ﷺ مَنِ السَّائِلُ عَنِ الْمُسْكِرِ؟ لَا تَشْرَبْهُ وَلَا تُسْقِهِ أَخَاكَ الْمُسْلِمَ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ أَوْ فَوَالَّذِي يَحْلِفُ بِهِ لَا يَشْرَبُهُ رَجُلٌ ابْتِغَاءَ لَذَّةٍ سُكْرِهِ فَيَسْقِيهِ اللهُ الْخَمْرَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
