[Machine] I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a Friday in the month of Azd. I was the eighth person, and he was having his breakfast. He said, "Come, let's have lunch." We said, "O Messenger of Allah, we are fasting." He asked, "Did you fast yesterday?" We replied, "No." He asked, "Will you fast tomorrow?" We replied, "No." He said, "Then break your fast." So, we ate with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When he went out and sat on the pulpit, he called for a vessel of water and drank while he was on the pulpit, and the people were looking at him, making it known to them that he did not fast on Fridays.  

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ فِي سَبْعَةٍ مِنَ الْأَزْدِ أَنَا ثَامِنُهُمْ وَهُوَ يَتَغَدَّى فَقَالَ هَلُمُّوا إِلَى الْغَدَاءِ قَالَ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُول الله إِنَّا صِيَام قَالَ أَصُمْتُم أَمْس؟ قَالَ قُلْنَا لَا قَالَ فَتَصُومُونَ غَدًا ؟ قَالَ قُلْنَا لَا قَالَ فَأَفْطِرُوا قَالَ فَأَكَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ وَجَلَسَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ دَعَا بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَشَرِبَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَالنَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ يُرِيَهُمْ أَنَّهُ لَا يَصُومُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ
