“Ja’far bin Abu Talib used to like the poor; he would sit with them and talk to them, and they would talk to him. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him the Kunyah of Abul-Masakin (Father of the Poor).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4125)
كَانَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ يُحِبُّ الْمَسَاكِينَ وَيَجْلِسُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيُحَدِّثُهُمْ وَيُحَدِّثُونَهُ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُكَنِّيهِ أَبَا الْمَسَاكِينِ

"عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ جَعْفَرُ يُحِبُّ الْمسَاكِينَ، يَجْلِسُ إِلَيْهِمْ يُحَدِّثُهُمْ وَيَحَدِّثُونَهُ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُسَمِّيهِ أَبَا الْمَسَاكِينِ".
