[Machine] "O my children, beware of associating with the foolish, for their companionship is a disease. Whoever dreams about a fool does not see with his dream. And whoever does not escape from a little harm caused by a fool, will eventually have to escape from a major harm. And whoever endures what he dislikes will attain what he loves. And when one of you intends to enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil upon people, let him prepare himself for enduring harm, and let him be certain of the reward from Allah. For indeed, whoever has confidence in the reward from Allah will not feel the affliction."  

«يَا بَنِيَّ إِيَّاكُمْ وَمُجَالَسَةَ السُّفَهَاءِ فَإِنَّ مُجَالَسَتَهُمْ دَاءٌ إِنَّهُ مَنْ يَحْلُمُ عَنِ السَّفِيهِ لَيْسَ يَنْظُرُ بِحِلْمِهِ وَمَنْ لَا يَفِرُّ بِقَلِيلِ مَا يَأْتِي بِهِ السَّفِيهُ يَفِرُّ بِالْكَبِيرِ وَمَنْ يَصْبِرْ عَلَى مَا يَكْرَهُ يُدْرِكْ مَا يُحِبُّ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَأْمُرَ النَّاسَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ فَلْيُوَطِّنْ نَفْسَهُ عَلَى الصَّبْرِ عَلَى الْأَذَى وَلْيُوقِنْ بِالثَّوَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَثِقْ بِالثَّوَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ لَا يَجِدُ مَسَّ الْأَذَى»  

[Machine] Indeed, I have said that in my silence, it is better than what the Euphrates and the Nile can provide. It was said to him, "What did you say?" He said, "I said: Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the greatest."  

إِنَّهُ قَدْ قُلْتُ فِي سَكْتَتِي هَذِهِ خَيْرًا مِمَّا يَسْقِي الْفُرَاتُ وَالنِّيلُ قِيلَ لَهُ وَمَا قُلْتَ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ  

[Machine] Wrap me in it, for I encountered the polytheists in it on the Day of Badr while it was upon me, and I had been concealing it for this reason.  

كَفِّنُونِي فِيهَا فَإِنِّي كُنْتُ لَقِيتُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فِيهَا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَهِيَ عَلَيَّ وَإِنَّمَا كُنْتُ أَخُبِّئُهَا لِهَذَا  

[Machine] Regarding the beds, where are those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides? Until these words were mentioned, a neck would emerge from the fire and say, "I was commanded regarding three types of people: those who associate partners with Allah, every oppressive and arrogant ruler, and every tyrant. As for me, I know a man from his father by his son, and a son from his father by his son." He said, "And the poor Muslims will be commanded to enter Paradise, but they will be detained. They will say, 'Why are you detaining us? We did not have wealth, nor were we rulers.'"  

عَنِ الْمَضَاجِعِ؟ أَيْنَ الَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ قِيَامًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَى جُنُوبِهِمْ؟ حَتَّى ذَكَرَ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ قَالَ يَخْرُجُ عُنُقٌ مِنَ النَّارِ فَيَقُولُ أُمِرْتُ بِثَلَاثَةٍ بِمَنْ جَعَلَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ وَبِكُلِّ جَبَّارٍعَنِيدٍ وَبِكُلِّ مُعْتَدٍ لَأَنَا أَعْرَفُ بِالرَّجُلِ مِنَ الْوَالِدِ بِوَلَدِهِ وَالْمَوْلُودِ بِوَالِدِهِ قَالَ وَيُؤْمَرُ بِفُقَرَاءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ فَيُحْبَسُونَ فَيَقُولُونَ تَحْبِسُونَنَا مَا كَانَ لَنَا أَمْوَالٌ وَلَا كُنَّا أُمَرَاءَ  

[Machine] My father, grandfather, and uncle were with the Prophet ﷺ . My father told me that he saw the Prophet ﷺ giving a sermon on the evening of Arafah on a red camel. Salamah said: My father advised me to perform the pre-dawn prayer. I said, "O my father, I cannot bear it." He said, "Then pray two rak'ahs before dawn and do not abandon them, and do not be fascinated by temptation."  

كَانَ أَبِي وَجَدِّي وعَمِّي مَعَ النَّبَيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ عَشِيَّةَ عَرَفَةَ عَلَى جَمَلٍ أَحْمَرَ

قالَ سَلَمَةُ: أوْصانِي أبِي بِصَلاةِ السَّحَرِ، قُلْتُ: يا أبَتِ إنِّي لا أُطِيقُها، قالَ: فانْظُرِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الفَجْرِ لا تَدَعْهُما، ولا تَشْخَصْ فِي الفِتْنَةِ "  

“Ja’far bin Abu Talib used to like the poor; he would sit with them and talk to them, and they would talk to him. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him the Kunyah of Abul-Masakin (Father of the Poor).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4125)   

كَانَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ يُحِبُّ الْمَسَاكِينَ وَيَجْلِسُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيُحَدِّثُهُمْ وَيُحَدِّثُونَهُ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُكَنِّيهِ أَبَا الْمَسَاكِينِ  

[Machine] If you see the son of Munkadir praying, you would say that he is like a branch of a tree being swayed by the wind, and the mangonel (catapult) falls here and there without concern.  

لِي ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ لَوْ رَأَيْتَ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي لَقُلْتَ غُصْنُ شَجَرَةٍ تَصْفُقُهَا الرِّيحُ وَإِنَّ الْمَنْجَنِيقَ لَيَقَعُ هَاهُنَا وَهَاهُنَا مَا يُبَالِي  

The people of Makkah say: Ibn Juraij learned the prayer from 'Ata' and ʿAtaʿ learned it from Ibn az-Zubair and Ibn az-Zubair learned it from Abu Bakr and Abu Bakr learned it from the Prophet ﷺ. I have never seen anyone who prays better than Ibn Juraij. This is a report praising Ibn Juraij and is not a hadeeth; this was stated by Ahmad Shakir (Using translation from Aḥmad 73)   

أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ يَقُولُونَ أَخَذَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ الصَّلَاةَ مِنْ عَطَاءٍ وَأَخَذَهَا عَطَاءٌ مِنَ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَأَخَذَهَا ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ مِنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ وَأَخَذَهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا أَحْسَنَ صَلَاةً مِنَ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ  

[Machine] That a man in his chamber, giving dinars (coins) and another remembering Allah, the one remembering Allah was better. Abu Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Hanbal mentioned the death of his father, he said: "He left less than a dirham (currency) in pieces and said, 'Count it as a charity on my behalf.' I think that I have fulfilled my promise."  

أَنَّ رَجُلًا فِي حِجْرِهِ دَنَانِيرُ يُعْطِيهَا وَآخَرَ ذَاكِرًا لِلَّهِ لَكَانَ الذَّاكِرُ أَفْضَلَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ وَذَكَرَ مَوْتَ أَبِيهِ قَالَ تَرَكَ أَقَلَّ مِنْ دِرْهَمٍ قِطْعَاتٍ وَقَالَ كَفِّرُوا بِهَا عَنِّي يَمِينًا أَظُنُّ أَنِّي قَدْ حَنِثْتُ  

[Machine] That his father used to say to his children, "When you pray the evening prayer, my children, go to bed in the hope that Allah may bless you with goodness during the night."  

أَنَّ أَبَاهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ لِبَنِيهِ إِذَا صَلَّوْا الْعِشَاءَ يَا بَنِيَّ نَامُوا لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَرْزُقَكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ خَيْرًا
