If he was in a room with the door closed, and he took off his garment to pour water on himself, shyness prevented him from standing up straight. (Using translation from Aḥmad 543)
[Machine] That Omar and Uthman were invited to a meal. When they left, Uthman said to Omar, "We have witnessed a meal, and I wish we hadn't witnessed it." Omar asked him why, and Uthman responded, "I fear that it may be a form of sorcery." Abu Abdullah Al-Rahman said, "This is the hope, the son of Abu Salamah."
[Machine] To find him awake, so he calls him and gives him his food, and he fasts all his life.

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, there will emerge from the Fire through the intercession of a man from my Ummah, more people than the tribes of Rabi'ah and Mudar.' Al-Hasan said, 'They used to think that 'Uthman bin 'Affan was the one being referred to or perhaps Uwais Al-Qarani.'"
[Machine] "He saw Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah have mercy on him, on a mule, with his son riding behind him, while he was the caliph."
[Machine] A woman said when Uthman was killed, "You have indeed killed him, and surely he used to revive the entire night with the recitation of the Quran in one unit of prayer."
[Machine] "I saw Uthman sleeping in the mosque, wrapped in a blanket, with no one around him, and he is the Commander of the Faithful."
[Machine] "He says, 'This is the commander of the faithful, this is the commander of the faithful.'"
[Machine] I went out with Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, in the year Uthman was killed, to Makkah. We passed by Madinah and we saw the Quran that was killed, and it was in his room. The first drop of his blood fell on this verse, "So Allah is sufficient for you against them. And He is Hearing and Knowing." [Surah Al-Baqarah 2:137]. Umrah said, "Not a single man among them died."
[Machine] May Allah have mercy on Uthman, no harm reached him until he was killed.
[Machine] To wake me up tonight at dawn, so I came to him, and when it was dawn, I said, "O Commander of the Faithful, it is time for suhoor. May Allah have mercy on you." He replied, "Yes, so he wiped his forehead and said, 'O Subhan Allah, O Abu Hurairah, you have cut off a vision that I had in which I saw the Prophet of Allah ﷺ saying to me, 'You will break your fast with us tomorrow.' May Allah have mercy on him."
[Machine] 'Uthman, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "If your hearts were purified, you would never have enough of Allah's words."
[Machine] "That there comes upon me a day without a night, except that I contemplate in Allah," meaning reading in the Quran.
[Machine] "Oh Abdullah, why have you distanced yourself from our beloved Uthman? Haven't you said that he was the most kind and righteous among us?"
[Machine] I find in the books that Uthman ibn Affan will say on the Day of Resurrection, "My Lord, grant me martyrdom, for Your believing servants have killed me."
[Machine] That Uthman ibn Affan used to feed the people the food of the caliphate, and he would enter his house and eat vinegar and oil.
ʿUthman ؓ used to stand by a grave and weep until his beard became wet. It was said to him: You remember Paradise and Hell and you do not weep, but you weep for this? He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿThe grave is the first stage of the hereafter. If one is saved from it (i.e., its torments), then what comes after it is easier than it. But if one is not saved from it {i.e. its torments), then what comes after it is worse.ʿ And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: By Allah, I have never seen any frightening scene but the grave is more frightening than it.ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 454)
[Machine] "If I were between heaven and hell, I would not know to which one I am commanded, so I chose to be ashes before I know which one I will become."
[Machine] I said to Uthman on the Day of the House, "May Allah fight them, and by Allah, Allah has indeed made it permissible for you to fight them." He said, "No, by Allah, I will never fight them," but they surrounded him and killed him while he was fasting. Uthman appointed Abdullah bin Zubayr for the House. Uthman said, "Whoever owes me obedience, should obey Abdullah bin Zubayr."
[Machine] Uthman used to fast during the day and stay awake at night except for a short while at the beginning.
[Machine] "That the invitation be accepted, and I invite with blessings."
[Machine] Uthman ibn Affan was invited to a people who were on an evil matter, so he went out to them and found them scattered, and he saw a reprehensible matter. He praised Allah that he did not meet them and he freed a slave.
