[Machine] That Uthman ibn Affan used to feed the people the food of the caliphate, and he would enter his house and eat vinegar and oil.  

الزهد لأحمد:٦٨٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ فُضَيْلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ رَأْسِ الْعَيْنِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حِمْيَرٍ الْهِلَالِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ

«أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ ؓ كَانَ يُطْعِمُ النَّاسَ طَعَامَ الْإِمَارَةِ وَيَدْخُلُ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ فَأَكَلَ الْخَلَّ وَالزَّيْتَ»
