Hasten to do good before the seven trials

tirmidhi:2306Abū Muṣʿab al-Madanī > Muḥarrar b. Hārūn > ʿAbd al-Raḥman al-Aʿraj > Abū Hurayrah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Hasten to do good deeds before seven things [overtake you]: Are you waiting for (1) poverty that makes one forgetful, or (2) wealth that makes one transgress, or (3) an illness that ruins, or (4) old age that brings senility, or (5) death that comes suddenly, or (6) the Dajjal, for he is the worst absent one who is awaited, or (7) the Hour, for the Hour is more calamitous and more bitter."

He said: This is a fair (hasan), singular (gharib) hadith. We do not know it from the narrations of al-A‘raj from Abu Hurayrah except through the narration of Muharrar ibn Harun. Bishr ibn ‘Umar and others have narrated this from Muharrar ibn Harun. And Ma‘mar narrated this hadith from someone who heard Sa‘id al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, something similar, and he said: “You are waiting…”
