[Machine] We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ towards Hunayn, and we passed by the Sadrat and I said, "O Messenger of Allah, make for us a Sadrat like the polytheists have, as they used to hang their weapons on it and gather around it." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allahu Akbar! This is similar to what the Children of Israel said to Moses, 'Make for us a god as they have gods.' Verily, you will surely follow the ways of those who came before you."

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Sinan bin Abi Sinan al-Du'ali, from Abu Waqid al-Laithi who said: "We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Hunayn while we were new to Islam and the polytheists had a tree in which they would sit and hang their weapons on, called Dhat Anwat. So, we passed by the tree and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, make for us a Dhat Anwat like they have.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Allah is the Greatest! You have said just as the Children of Israel said to Musa (as), "Make for us a god as they have gods." He (Musa) said, "Verily, you are a people who know not." You are surely going to follow the ways of those who came before you.'"

"O Messenger of Allah! Make a Dhat Anwat for us as they have a Dhat Anwat.' The Prophet ﷺ said: "Subhan Allah! This is like what Musa's people said: Make for us a god like their gods.
[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were newly converted from the era of ignorance and the tree of the Quraysh polytheists and other Arabs, called Dhāt Anwāṭ, was a great tree. They would come to it every year, hang their weapons on it, rest under it, and engage in acts of worship on that day. We saw, while walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a great green Sidra tree, and it called out to us from the sides of the road. So we said, "O Messenger of Allah, make a Dhāt Anwāṭ for us." He said, "Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest). You said just as the people of Moses said, 'Make for us a god as they have gods'." (The verse is) to test whether you will follow the traditions of those who came before you.

[Machine] We went out with the Prophet ﷺ while we were still new in embracing Islam, and the pagans had embraced Islam on the day of the conquest. We arrived at a tree where the pagans used to hang their weapons and sit around it. We said, "O Messenger of Allah, make for us a tree like the pagans have," so the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest). You have said as the people of Musa (Moses) said, 'Make for us a god as they have gods.' But you will indeed follow the ways of those before you."

He began the prayer by making seven takbirs (saying Allahu Akbar) in the first rakah, then recited Surah Al-Qamar and Surah Al-Majid. In the second rakah, he made five takbirs and recited Surah Al-Qamar. The hour has drawn near and the moon has split."

She said, "Take me with you, for I have a need for him." I entered the mosque, which was crowded with people, and I saw a black flag waving and Bilal holding a sword standing in front of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . So I sat in the mosque, and when the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , entered, he granted me permission to approach. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, did anything happen between you and the people of Tameem?" I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah. We had an incident with them. I saw an old woman among them wearing a torn cloak, and she said that she has a need for the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . So I carried her, and here she is at the door." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , gave her permission to enter, and when she sat down, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, if you see fit, please reconcile between us and the people of Tameem because they were hostile towards us. I carried this old woman, and I feel like she is a bad omen for me. I seek refuge with Allah and the Messenger of Allah from becoming like the people of Aad." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , asked, "Who are the people of Aad?" I said, "According to the "knowledgeable ones," I have fallen into a mistake." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "He is unable to comprehend what I am saying." Then Afeefan said, "I seek refuge with Allah from becoming like the first one." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , asked, "What did the first one say?" He said, "According to the "knowledgeable ones," I have fallen into a mistake." He said, "Owee, he is able to understand it." Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Indeed, the people of Aad suffered from famine, so they sent their envoy with a message. It is said that he stayed with Muawiyah ibn Bakr for a month, where he was given alcohol to drink and locusts to eat." He said, "Peace be upon you," meaning the two dishes. Then he continued until he reached the mountains of Mahrah and said, "O Allah, You know that I did not come to capture a prisoner or to cure a sick person, so give water to Your servant what You give him to drink, and give along with him Muawiyah ibn Bakr, who will be grateful to You for the alcohol he drank with him." He said, "Then black clouds passed by and from it a voice was heard saying, 'Choose the cloud.' It was said, 'This is a black cloud.' It was said, 'Take it as ashes and scatter it in the land of Aad, so that no one from among them remains.'" He said, "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have heard that only a portion of the wind is sent upon them, as much as the sign seen in the ring.' Abu Wa'il said, 'That is exactly what we have heard.'"
