While Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in the mosque with some people, three men came. Two of them came in front of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the third one went away. The two persons kept on standing before Messenger of Allah ﷺ for a while and then one of them found a place in the circle and sat there while the other sat behind the gathering, and the third one went away. When Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his preaching, he said, "Shall I tell you about these three persons? One of them betook himself to Allah, so Allah took him into His grace and mercy and accommodated him, the second felt shy from Allah, so Allah sheltered Him in His mercy (and did not punish him), while the third turned his face from Allah and went away, so Allah turned His face from him likewise. "  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَالنَّاسُ مَعَهُ إِذْ أَقْبَلَ ثَلاَثَةُ نَفَرٍ فَأَقْبَلَ اثْنَانِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَذَهَبَ وَاحِدٌ قَالَ فَوَقَفَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَرَأَى فُرْجَةً فِي الْحَلْقَةِ فَجَلَسَ فِيهَا وَأَمَّا الآخَرُ فَجَلَسَ خَلْفَهُمْ وَأَمَّا الثَّالِثُ فَأَدْبَرَ ذَاهِبًا فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَلاَ أُخْبِرُكُمْ عَنِ النَّفَرِ الثَّلاَثَةِ أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمْ فَأَوَى إِلَى اللَّهِ فَآوَاهُ اللَّهُ وَأَمَّا الآخَرُ فَاسْتَحْيَا فَاسْتَحْيَا اللَّهُ مِنْهُ وَأَمَّا الآخَرُ فَأَعْرَضَ فَأَعْرَضَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ  

[Machine] While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, three people passed by. One of them found a gap in the circle and sat down, and the other sat behind them. The third person left. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I inform you about the status of these three people?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "As for the one who sat down and took refuge, Allah will grant him refuge. As for the one who sat behind you, Allah felt shy and turned away from him. And as for the one who left, he turned away from Allah."  

قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ مَرَّ ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ فَجَاءَ أَحَدُهُمْ فَوَجَدَ فُرْجَةً فِي الْحَلْقَةِ فَجَلَسَ وَجَلَسَ الْآخَرُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ وَانْطَلَقَ الثَّالِثُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَبَرِ هَؤُلَاءِ النَّفَرِ؟ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ أَمَّا الَّذِي جَاءَ فَجَلَسَ فَأَوَى فَآوَاهُ اللهُ وَالَّذِي جَلَسَ مِنْ وَرَائِكُمْ فَاسْتَحْيَافَاسْتَحْيَا اللهُ مِنْهُ وَأَمَّا الَّذِي انْطَلَقَ فَرَجُلٌ أَعْرَضَ فَأَعْرَضَ اللهُ عَنْهُ  

Abu Waqid al-Laith reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in the mosque along wish tome people when there came to him three persons; two of them stepped forward to the direction of Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and one of them went away. The two stood by the side of Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and one of them found a space in his circle and he sat in that; and the other one sat behind him and the third one went away. When Messenger of Allah ﷺ had finished his work, he said. Should I not inform you about these three persons? One of them sought refuge with Allah and Allah gave him refuge and the second one felt shy and Allah showed kindness to has shyness (and so he was accommodated in that meeting), and the last one reverted and Allah turned away His attention from him. أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَالنَّاسُ مَعَهُ إِذْ أَقْبَلَ ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ فَأَقْبَلَ اثْنَانِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَذَهَبَ وَاحِدٌ فَلَمَّا وَقَفَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَلَّمَا فَأَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَرَأَى فُرْجَةً فِي الْحَلْقَةِ فَجَلَسَ فِيهَا وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَجَلَسَ خَلْفَهُمْ وَأَمَّا الثَّالِثُ فَأَدْبَرَ ذَاهِبًا فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ عَنِ النَّفَرِ الثَّلَاثَةِ أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمْ فَأَوَى إِلَى اللَّهِ فَآوَاهُ اللَّهُ وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَاسْتَحْيَى فَاسْتَحْيَى اللَّهُ مِنْهُ وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَأَعْرَضَ فَأَعْرَضَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ»  

[Machine] While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting with his companions, three people came. One of them found an empty space in the circle, so he sat down. Another person sat behind the circle, and the third person walked away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Shall I inform you about these three individuals? As for the person who sat in the circle, he is a man who sought refuge and Allah sheltered him. As for the person who sat behind the circle, he was shy and Allah was shy from him. And as for the person who walked away, he turned away and Allah turned away from him."  

بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَاعِدٌ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ إِذْ جَاءَ ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ فَأَمَّا رَجُلٌ فَوَجَدَ فُرْجَةً فِي الْحَلْقَةِ فَجَلَسَ وَأَمَّا رَجُلٌ فَجَلَسَ أَظُنُّهُ قَالَ خَلْفَ الْحَلْقَةِ وَأَمَّا رَجُلٌ فَانْطَلَقَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ عَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ النَّفَرِ أَمَا الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي جَلَسَ فِي الْحَلْقَةِ فَرَجُلٌ أَوَى فَآوَاهُ اللهُ وَأَمَّا الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي جَلَسَ خَلْفَ الْحَلْقَةِ فَاسْتَحْيَى فَاسْتَحْيَى اللهُ مِنْهُ وَأَمَّا الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي انْطَلَقَ فَرَجُلٌ أَعْرَضَ فَأَعْرَضَ اللهُ عَنْهُ
