3. Book of Knowledge (1/2)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A group of my Ummah will continue to prevail and they will never be harmed by those who forsake them, until the Hour begins." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 6)
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "You hear and others hear from you, and others hear from those who hear from you."
[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said: 'When you hear something about me that you recognize, your hearts soften towards it, your hair stands on end, and you feel that it is close to you, then I am the closest to it among you. But when you hear something about me that you reject, your hearts become hard towards it, your hair stands up in displeasure, and you feel that it is far from you, then I am the furthest of you from it.'"
3.2 [Machine] The admonition to prevent reliance on the writings of a person without preserving them
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Do not write anything about me except the Quran. Whoever writes anything about me, let him erase it."
[Machine] "We left the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and no bird flies with its wings except that we have knowledge about it."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah brighten the face of the individual who hears something from us and conveys it exactly as he heard it. There are times when the one who conveys something is more mindful of it than the one who hears it."
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up in Khaif in Mina, and said: ‘May Allah make his face shine, the man who hears my words and conveys them. It may be that the bearer of knowledge does not understand it, and it may be that he takes it to one who will understand it more than he does. There are three things in which the heart of the believer does not betray: sincerity of action for the sake of Allah, offering sincere advice to the rulers of the Muslims, and adhering to the Jama’ah (main body of the Muslims). Their supplication is answered (i.e. encompassing every good, and all of the people).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3056)
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, 'May Allah have mercy on the one who hears a hadith from me and conveys it as he heard it, for perhaps the one who conveys it understands it better than the one who hears it.'"
"I heard 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrating from his father who said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: 'May Allah gladden a man who hears something from us, so he conveys it as he heard it. Perhaps the one it is conveyed to is more understanding than the one who heard it.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2657)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The keys to the unseen are five: no one knows what a womb will bear except Allah, no one knows what will happen tomorrow except Allah, no one knows when it will rain except Allah, no soul knows in which land it will die, and no one knows when the Hour will occur."
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The keys of Unseen are five which none knows but Allah: None knows what will happen tomorrow but Allah; none knows what is in the wombs (a male child or a female) but Allah; none knows when it will rain but Allah; none knows at what place one will die; none knows when the Hour will be established but Allah." (See The Qur'an 31:34.") (Using translation from Bukhārī 4697)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah dislikes every sneaky, cunning person in the markets, greedy at night and sluggish during the day, knowledgeable in worldly matters but ignorant of matters of the Hereafter."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Quran was revealed with seven different readings, and for each verse there is an apparent meaning and an implied meaning."
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited the following Verse: 'It is He Who has sent down to you (Muhammad) the Book (this Qur'an). In it are verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book; and others not entirely clear (up to His saying: ) 'And none receive admonition except men of understanding.' Then he said: 'O 'Aishah, if you see those who dispute concerning it (the Qur'an), they are those whom Allah has referred to here, so beware of them.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 47)
Do not sit with those who believe in free will and do not address them before they address you. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4720)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge and seek refuge in You from knowledge that is of no benefit."
[Machine] The translation of the provided sentence is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from actions that are not raised, from a heart that is not humble, and from words that are not heard.'"
If anyone pursues a path in search of knowledge, Allah will thereby make easy for him a path to paradise; and he who is made slow by his actions will not be speeded by his genealogy. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3643)
I went to Safwän bin 'Asal al-Murädi and he said: What brought you here?I said: I am seeking knowledge. He said: I heard the
Messenger of Allah say, “There is no one who goes out o f his house in order to seek knowledge except that the angels lower their wings in approval of his action.”
Abu Waqid al-Laith reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in the mosque along wish tome people when there came to him three persons; two of them stepped forward to the direction of Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and one of them went away. The two stood by the side of Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and one of them found a space in his circle and he sat in that; and the other one sat behind him and the third one went away. When Messenger of Allah ﷺ had finished his work, he said. Should I not inform you about these three persons? One of them sought refuge with Allah and Allah gave him refuge and the second one felt shy and Allah showed kindness to has shyness (and so he was accommodated in that meeting), and the last one reverted and Allah turned away His attention from him. (Using translation from Muslim 2176a)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ heard saying: "Whoever enters our mosque here to learn goodness or to teach it, he is like a warrior in the cause of Allah. And whoever enters it for other than that, he is like one who looks at what does not belong to him."
Kathir ibn Qays said: I was sitting with AbudDarda' in the mosque of Damascus. A man came to him and said: AbudDarda, I have come to you from the town of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for a tradition that I have heard you relate from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I have come for no other purpose. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge, the inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and the fish in the deep waters will ask forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of the learned man over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars. The learned are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dirham, leaving only knowledge, and he who takes it takes an abundant portion. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3641)
I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep on following Allah's teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till Allah's order (Day of Judgment) is established." (Using translation from Bukhārī 71)
“There is no (permissible) envy except in two cases: A man whom Allah has given wealth and caused him to dispose of it in a proper manner, and a man to whom Allah has given wisdom, and he acts in accordance with it and teaches it (to others).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4208)
I heard Abū al-Qāsim (the Prophet) ﷺ say, "The best of you in Islam are those with the best character, if they have a good ˹religious˺ understanding." (Using translation from Aḥmad 10066)
[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "People are mines in good and evil. The best among them in the pre-Islamic period are the best among them in Islam if they acquire understanding."

"I took a walk with the Prophet ﷺ on a farm in Al-Madinah, and when he reclined upon a palm-leaf stalk, a group of Jews were passing by. Some of them said, 'We should question him.' Others said: 'Do not question him for he might tell you something that you do not like.' They said to him: 'O Abul-Qasim, narrated to us about the Ruh.' The Prophet ﷺ stood for some time, he raised his head toward the heavens, and I recognized revelation was coming to him, until the revelation ceased. Then he ﷺ said: "The Ruh is one of the things, the knowledge of which is only with my Lord. And of knowledge, you have been given only a little (17:85).'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3141)

"The Quraish said to the Jews: 'Give us something that we can ask this man about.' So he said: 'Ask him about the Ruh.' So they asked him about the Ruh. So Allah Most High, revealed: They ask you concerning the Ruh. Say: The Ruh is one of the things, the knowledge of which is only with my Lord. And of knowledge, you have been given only a little (17:85). They replied: 'We have been given immense knowledge, we were given the Tawrah, and whoever has been given the Tawrah, then he has indeed been given a wealth of knowledge.' So the following was revealed: Say: 'If the sea were ink for the Words of my Lord, surely the sea would be exhausted (before the Words of my Lord would be finished.) Are you not surprised at AbuHurayrah? He came and sat beside my apartment, and began to narrate traditions from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ making me hear them. I was saying supererogatory prayer. He got up (and went away) before I finished my prayer. Had I found him, I would have replied to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not narrate traditions quickly one after another as you narrate quickly. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3655)

Abu Tufail, come to us. There has been a difference of opinion between me and my friend about the companion of Moses whom he wanted to meet on the way. Did hear anything from Allah's meesenger ﷺ making a mention of anything? Ubayy said: I heard Messenger of Allah (may Peace be upon him) as saying: As Moses was amongst the group of Bani Isra'il, there came to him a person and he said to him: Do you know anyone having better knowledge than you? Moses said: No. Thereupon Allah revealed to Moses: Of course, there is amongst Our servants Khadir (who has better knowledge) than you. Moses asked the way of meeting him. Allah made the fish a sign and it was said to him: Where you miss the fish return to that (place) and you will soon find him. So Moses moved on as Allah wished him to move on. He then said to his young companion: Bring for us the breakfast. Thereupop that young man said to Moses. when he asked him for the breakfast: Don't you see that as we had reached the Sakhra I forgot the fish and nobody made it forget (in our mind) but the satan that I should remind you of it? Mosed said to that young man: This was what we wanted. So they retraced their steps and met Khadir and the events which followed have been described in His Book except that Yunus (the narrator) said that he followed the traces of fish in the ocean. " O Messenger of Allah! When will the Hour be established?" So the Propher ﷺ stood to perform Salat and when he was finished his Salat he said: "Where is the one who asked when the hour will be established?" The man said: "It was I, O Mesenger of Allah!" He said: "What have you prepared for it?" He said: "O Messenger of allah! I have not prepared very much of salat nor fasting for it, but I love Allah and His Messenger." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A man shall be with whom ever he loves, and you shall be with whomever you love." He who desires to ask anything from me let him ask me about it. By Allah, I shall not move from this place so long as I do not inform you about that which you ask. Anas b. Malik said: People began to shed tears profusely when they heard this from Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Messenger of Allah ﷺ said it repeatedly: You ask me. Thereupon 'Abdullah b. Hudhafa stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, who is my father? He said: Your father is Hudhafa, and Messenger of Allah ﷺ said repeatedly: Ask me, and (it was at this juncture that 'Umar knelt down and said): We are well pleased with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our code of life and with Muhammad as the Messenger (of Allah). Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept quiet so long as 'Umar spoke. Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: (The Doom) is near; by Him, in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad, there was presented to me the Paradise and Hell in the nook of this enclosure, and I did not see good and evil like that of the present day. Ibn Shihab reported: Ubaidullah b. 'Abdullah b. 'Utba told me that the mother of 'Abdullah b. Hudhafa told 'Abdullah b. Hudhafa: I have never heard of a son more disobedient than you. Do you feel yourself immune from the fact that your mother committed a sin which the women in the pre-Islamic period committed and then you disgrace her in the eyes of the people? 'Abdullah b. Hudhafa said: If my fatherhood were to be attributed to a black slave I would have connected myself with him. (Using translation from Muslim 2359c)

The Muslim who offends most against the Muslims is he who enquires about something which has not been forbidden to men, and it is declared forbidden because of his enquiry. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4610)

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about this Ayah: 'It is He who sent down to you the Book. In it are Ayat that are entirely clear... (3:7)' until the end of the Ayah. The Prophet said: "Do not seek knowledge in order to show off in front of the scholars, or to argue with the foolish, and do not choose the best seat in a gathering, due to it (i.e. the knowledge which you have learned) for whoever does that, the Fire, the Fire (awaits him)." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 254)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "What I fear for you the most is a man who has memorized the Quran, until his delight is seen on him and it becomes apparent that he is a supporter of Islam. Then he changes it to whatever Allah wills. He sheds it from himself and throws it behind his back, and he fights against his neighbor with the sword and accuses him of polytheism." I said, "O Prophet of Allah, who is more deserving of being accused of polytheism, the thrower or the one thrown at?" He said, "Rather, it is the one who throws."
