“I came to Al-Madinah and saw the Prophet ﷺ standing on the pulpit, and Bilal standing in front of him, with his sword by his side, and (I saw) a black flag. I said: ‘Who is this?’ He said: ‘This is ‘Amr bin ‘As, who has just come back from a campaign.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2816)

الطبراني:٣٣٢٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ وَعَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَا ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الثَّعْلَبِيُّ وَالْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْحَنَفِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ قَالَ

قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَائِمًا عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَبِلَالٌ قَائِمٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مَتَقَلِّدًا سَيْفًا وَإِذَا رَايَاتٌ سُودٌ فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذِهِ؟ قَالُوا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ قَدِمَ مِنْ غَزَاةٍ

قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَائِمًا عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَبِلاَلٌ قَائِمٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مُتَقَلِّدٌ سَيْفًا وَإِذَا رَايَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَقُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا قَالُوا هَذَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ قَدِمَ مِنْ غَزَاةٍ

[Machine] We arrived at the city, and behold, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on the pulpit, and Bilal stood in front of him, holding a sword that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was also holding. Then I saw a few black flags, so I asked, "What are these flags?" They replied, "Amr ibn al-Aas has returned from a battle."

أحمد:١٥٩٥٢ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ أَبِي النَّجُودِ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ الْبَكْرِيِّ قَالَ
