[Machine] Abdullah said, "Indeed, he will have a difficult livelihood." He said, "The punishment of the grave."
[Machine] Abdullah used to say: "When I inform you of a hadith, I bring to you its confirmation from the Book of Allah. Indeed, when a Muslim servant says, 'Alhamdulillah' (praise be to Allah), 'SubhanAllah' (glory be to Allah), 'La ilaha illa Allah' (there is no god but Allah), 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the greatest), and 'TabarakAllah' (blessed be Allah), an angel takes hold of these words and places them under his wing. Then, he ascends with them, and whenever a group of angels pass by, they seek forgiveness for the one who said these words until he presents them to the Countenance of the Most Merciful. Then, Abdullah recited, 'To Him ascends the good word, and the righteous deed raises it.'"
أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِحَدِيثٍ أَتَيْتُكُمْ بِتَصْدِيقِ ذَلِكَ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللهِ إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ الْمُسْلِمَ إِذَا قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ وَتَبَارَكَ اللهُ قَبَضَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مَلَكٌ فَجَعَلَهُنَّ تَحْتَ جَنَاحِهِ ثُمَّ صَعِدَ بِهِنَّ فَلَا يَمُرُّ عَلَى جَمْعٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ إِلَّا اسْتَغْفَرُوا لِقَائِلِهِنَّ حَتَّى يَجِيءَ بِهِنَّ وَجْهَ الرَّحْمَنِ تَعَالَى ثُمَّ قَرَأَ عَبْدُ اللهِ {إِلَيْهِ يَصْعَدُ الْكَلِمُ الطَّيِّبُ وَالْعَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ يَرْفَعْهُ}
[Machine] "When Abdullah informs you of a narration, I confirm it to you. Indeed, when a Muslim servant dies, he is made to sit in his grave and it is said to him, 'Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who is your Prophet?' Allah will make him firm and he will say, 'My Lord is Allah, my religion is Islam, and my Prophet is Muhammad ﷺ .' Then his grave will be expanded for him and illuminated, and it will be opened for him. Then Abdullah recited, 'Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter. And Allah sends astray the wrongdoers.'"
عَبْدُ اللهِ إِذَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِحَدِيثٍ أَنْبَأْتُكُمْ بِتَصْدِيقِ ذَلِكَ إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ الْمُسْلِمَ إِذَا مَاتَ أُجْلِسَ فِي قَبْرِهِ فَيُقَالُ لَهُ مَنْ رَبُّكَ؟ مَا دِينُكَ؟ مَنْ نَبِيُّكَ؟ فَيُثَبِّتُهُ اللهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيَ اللهُ وَدِينِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ وَنَبِيِّي مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ فَيُوَسَّعُ لَهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ وَيُفْرَجُ لَهُ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ عَبْدُ اللهِ {يُثَبِّتُ اللهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِالْقَوْلِ الثَّابِتِ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ وَيُضِلُّ اللهُ الظَّالِمِينَ}
[Machine] He said to him: "O Lord, what should I write?" He said: "Write whether he is wretched or happy, male or female, what his provision is, what his impact is, and what his lifespan is." Then Allah ﷻ inspires him with whatever He wills and the angel writes it down. Then Abdullah recited: "Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him." Abdullah said: "The mixture is the veins"

[Machine] Abdullah recited this verse: "But you prefer the worldly life" and then said, "Do you know with what thing the worldly life began? What thing did it value the worldly life? The worldly life has been hastened for us, and it has been given to us with its pleasure and delight, while the Hereafter has been hidden from us and removed from us. So we responded to the immediate and left the postponed."
[Machine] I saw Abdullah reciting the two protective chapters (Surahs) and saying, "Why do you increase what is not in them?"
[Machine] He used to mix the two recitations from his Quran and say, "Didn't they mix in it what is not in it?"
[Machine] That he used to recite the two Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) from the Quran, saying "They are not from the Book of Allah."
[Machine] "He used to say, 'Do not mix anything in the Qur'an that is not in it, as they are only two protective surahs with which the Prophet ﷺ sought refuge: Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak,' and say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.' Abdullah used to erase them from the mushaf."
[Machine] "He used to recite the two chapters of refuge from the Qur'an and say, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded to seek protection through them but did not recite them.'"
[Machine] He said: "You should not have taken a palm branch from your right hand and made use of it." He also said: "Fetch camel urine for me, I see you eating palm branches, so cook it until it solidifies, then drink it and take the palm leaves, pound them and sprinkle them on it." He said: "So he did that and he was cured."
[Machine] Abdullah said: "The people of drinking are leaders among the superior people."
[Machine] "Take care of your children in prayer and teach them good, for indeed good is a habit."
[Machine] "Get used to doing good, for goodness is only achieved through habituation."
[Machine] As for Malik, he is not mine anymore, I have left him for you.
[Machine] "Because preparing a whip for the sake of Allah is dearer to me than performing Hajj after Hajj in Islam."
[Machine] The millstone of Islam revolves around thirty-five until a great event occurs. If their destruction happens in it, then it is befitting, otherwise they will live comfortably for seventy years. Whoever witnesses that will see what they deny. This is how Abu al-Ahwas narrated it as a suspended narration, while Masruq and Abdur Rahman ibn Abdullah and Al-Bara ibn Najiya raised it.
[Machine] "Indeed, a man may speak a word that causes his companions to laugh, but it may result in consequences that extend from the heavens to the earth, and yet he may not be aware of it."
[Machine] To recommend more than a third [of the inheritance] and then go back on it after one's death, Abdullah was asked about that and he said, "That is not permissible."
[Machine] About Abdullah concerning a man who makes a will and his heirs are pleased with it then they change their minds. Abdullah said, "That is not permissible."
[Machine] "Indeed, Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has also sent alongside it a cure. So, it is upon you to take the milk of cows, as it is derived from the entirety of vegetation."
[Machine] Abdullah said, "Allah has not sent down any disease except that He has also sent down its cure, except for one disease, the old age. So you should take the milk of cows, as it comes from the entire tree."
[Machine] Abdullah used to not consistently observe any act of worship except for performing the Witr prayer before the rak'ah.
[Machine] Abdullah used to not perform the morning prayer regularly, and when he did, he would perform the Witr prayer before the last unit.
[Machine] From two companions of Abdullah, it is narrated that they used to bring their heads close to Abdullah to hear what he says in his prostration. One of them said, "I heard him say, 'Glory be to You, there is no deity except You.'" And the other one said, "I heard him say, 'Glory be to You, there is no Lord except You.'"
[Machine] I heard Abdullah saying, "Indeed, the two tongues in this world will have two tongues of fire on the Day of Resurrection."
[Machine] Abdullah said, "Hurry to attend the Friday prayer, for Allah appears to the people of Paradise every Friday in a heap of camphor. They will be close to Him according to their haste to go to the Friday prayer. Allah will grant them some honor that they have never seen before, then they will return to their families and inform them of what Allah has bestowed upon them." Abdullah then entered the mosque and found two men who had arrived before him on Friday. Abdullah said, "There are two men and I am the third, if Allah wills, He will bless the third."
[Machine] Abdullah said, "A Muslim should never make fun of any situation he finds himself in, whether he is experiencing prosperity or adversity, without having any self-reproach."
[Machine] "It is better for one of you to bite on a live coal until it cools down or to hold on to it until it cools down than to say something that Allah has decreed, 'I wish it had not happened'."
[Machine] "There remains only ten nights in my deadline and I wish to not be separated from a woman during them."
[Machine] "Abdullah said, 'No one should feel secure that he lifts his head before the Imam lifts his head, otherwise his head will turn into the head of a dog, and some people should stop raising their gazes to the sky, or their vision will be taken away.'"
[Machine] To raise one's head during prayer before the imam, and to return one's head like a dog's head, and to stop those who raise their eyes during prayer, or it does not return to them.
[Machine] Abdullah said, "What can be believed of a man who raises his head before the Imam is that his head will be like that of a dog, and some people raise their gaze to the sky and it will not return to them."
[Machine] "Abdullah was one of the most generous people, wearing a white garment and having the most pleasant scent among people."
[Machine] Abdullah entered the mosque on Friday wearing clean white clothes. He looked for a spacious place and sat down without pushing anyone. When the Imam came out, he saw two men talking, so he took a pebble and threw it at them. They looked at him and became silent. When the Imam finished his sermon, he said, "Didn't you know that you were in prayer?"
[Machine] "That he may take from it provisions and for the owner of the plunder."
[Machine] "Abdullah said, 'We have more right to it.' So he sat and spoke for an hour, then he stood up and Alqamah left. When he reached the owners of the treasure, he sent a message after him and called him back. He asked, 'Do you need anything?' He replied, 'Yes.' He said, 'Take the money.' When he took it, Abdullah said, 'To lend money twice is dearer to me than giving charity once.'"
[Machine] "You and your companions contribute one-third and send it to our Bedouin neighbors, and give one-third in charity."
[Machine] "If one of you is unsure during his prayer, let him seek clarity within himself and complete it, then let him prostrate two prostrations after the salaam while sitting."
"Whoever us not sure about his prayer, then let him estimate what is correct, then let him prostrate twice after he finished his prayer, while he is sitting." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1245)
[Machine] Ibn Mas'ud used to say after saying, "Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah," "Peace be upon us from our Lord."
[Machine] About wine? He said, "I only drink it in moderation." Then his son said, "Wasn't Ibn Mas'ud drinking with you from the green jar?" He replied, "Yes."
[Machine] He heard Abdullah bin Mas'ud saying, "How do you react when you see a group of people or when a group with dirty faces comes to you?"
[Machine] "This is not misleading tribulation, but rather a horn from Satan."
[Machine] He said, "Go away and enter paradise." So, he approached him frowning and said, "Did you save anything for me?" He replied, "Yes, for you is the equivalent of what the sun has risen upon or set upon."
[Machine] "Have you not seen that young man reading these two chapters in this prayer while you are also young."
[Machine] A man came to Abdullah, perfumed. When Abdullah saw him and smelled the scent, he said, "Oh Allah, I seek refuge in You from his evil." The man approached him and told him that he had committed adultery with his neighbor's slave girl. Abdullah advised him, "Seek forgiveness from Allah, turn back to Him, and conceal it. If you are able to free her, then free her."
