[Machine] Narrated by Abdullah ibn Masud:
The Prophet ﷺ was asked by Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr, "O Messenger of Allah, which action is the best?" He replied, "Offering prayers on time, being kind to one's parents, and striving in the cause of Allah."
[Machine] You asked me about what the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked me. He said, "Prayer on time, kindness to parents, and jihad in the way of Allah." And if I had asked him for more, he would have given me more.
[Machine] I said, "Oh Messenger of Allah, which action is the best?" He said, "Praying on time."
[Machine] On the authority of a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , it is narrated that the Prophet ﷺ was asked, "Which deed is the best?" He replied, "The prayer at its appointed time."
[Machine] "The prescribed prayer at its appointed time and kindness towards parents."
[Machine] I asked the Prophet ﷺ about the best deeds. He said, "The prayers at their appointed times, honoring one's parents, and striving in the cause of Allah." The wording of the hadith is from Ma'mar and others like it.
[Machine] I asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , "Which deeds are the best?" He said, "Praying on time, being kind to your parents, and striving in the path of Allah." If I had asked for more, he would have given me more.
[Machine] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "Which deed is the best?" He said, "To offer prayers at their appointed times." I asked, "Then what?" He said, "To be dutiful to one's parents." I asked again, "Then what?" He said, "To strive in the cause of Allah." And if I asked him further, he would have told me more, for the wording of this hadith is similar to the hadith narrated by Ibrahim ibn Tahman and others.
[Machine] I asked the Prophet ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, which deeds are most beloved to Allah and closest to Him?" He said, "Prayer at its prescribed time." I asked, "What then?" He said, "Showing respect and goodness to one's parents." I asked, "What then?" He said, "Striving in the cause of Allah, even with a little effort." If I had asked for more, he would have given me more.
[Machine] I asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, which deeds are most beloved to Allah and closest to Him?" He said, "Offering the obligatory prayer at its prescribed time." I asked, "Then what?" He said, "Being dutiful to one's parents." I asked, "Then what?" He said, "Jihad in the cause of Allah."
[Machine] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "Which deeds are best?" He replied, "Prayer at its appointed time." I said, "Then what?" He said, "Kindness to parents." I said, "Then what?" He said, "Jihad in the cause of Allah." He swore by Allah, "And if I had requested more, he would have given me more." I said, "So which sin is the greatest in the sight of Allah?" He said, "To ascribe partners to Allah while He has created you." I said, "Then what?" He replied, "To kill your children out of fear that they will eat with you." I said, "Then what?" He said, "To commit adultery with your neighbor's wife." We only stayed a little while until Allah revealed the confirmation of his statement, "And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty." Jowwad bin Muawiya stated it, and Hammad bin Salamah did not.
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, which action is best?" He replied, "Offering the prayer at its prescribed time." I said, "Then what?" He said, "Being dutiful to the parents." I said, "Then what?" He said, "Then striving in the cause of Allah." Then he remained silent, and if I had asked him more, he would have answered me.
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, which deed is best?" He said, "Prayer at its appointed time." I asked, "Then what?" He said, "Kindness to parents." I asked, "Then what?" He said, "Jihad in the cause of Allah." Then he remained silent and if I had asked him more, he would have added more to me.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, "Which action is best?" He said, "Kindness towards parents and praying on time." This narration was reported by Zaidah and was narrated by Shu'bah and Hammad ibn Salamah.
[Machine] "The prayers should be performed at their designated times."

[Machine] "O Abu Abdurrahman, which ranks of Islam are superior?" He (Abu Abdurrahman) said, "Prayer." He (the person asking) said, "Then what?" He (Abu Abdurrahman) said, "Zakat." He (the person asking) said, "Then what?" He (Abu Abdurrahman) said, "Being kind to one's parents." He (the person asking) said, "So, who shall one be with?" He (Abu Abdurrahman) said, "I consider him to be with those whom he loves."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , prayed with us and increased his prayer or decreased it. Mansoor said: "Indeed, Ibrahim al-Nasi has mentioned that from Alqamah, or Alqamah from Abdullah bin Mas'ood. Abdullah said, when the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , finished the prayer and turned towards us, we said, "O Messenger of Allah, did something new come up in the prayer?" He said, "No." Then what had happened was mentioned to him, so he bent his leg and faced the qibla and performed two prostrations, then he turned away. He said, "If something happens in the prayer, I will inform you, but I am a human being like you, and I forget just as you forget. So, when I forget, remind me, and whoever amongst you has any doubt about his prayer, he should look what is best in it and complete it accordingly, then make the tasleem (saying As-Salaamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullah). And then he should make two prostrations."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with us a prayer in which he increased or decreased [something]. When he finished his prayer, we said, "Did something increase in the prayer?" He said, "What is that?" We said, "You prayed with us this and that." Then, he turned his feet and performed two prostrations, then he faced us with his face and said, "I am only a human like you. If I forget, remind me. And if anyone of you has doubts about his prayer, he should make it correct and then prostrate twice."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If any one of you has doubts about his prayer, he should follow what he thinks is correct and complete it, then make two prostrations."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer, and he either increased or decreased something. When he finished, it was said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you make any changes in the prayer?" He said, "If I had made any changes, I would have informed you. I am only a human being and I forget as you forget. So, if anyone of you performs prayer and increases or decreases something, he should strive to do what is correct and complete the prayer. Then, he should prostrate for the two prostrations of forgetfulness."
We prayed along with the Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) and he committed or omitted (something). Ibrahim said: By Allah, this is a misgiving of mine only. We said: Messenger of Allah, is there something new about the prayer? He (the Holy Prophet) said: No. We told him about what he had done. He (the Holy Prophet) said: When a man commits or omits (something in prayer), he should perform two prostrations, and he then himself performed two prostrations. (Using translation from Muslim 572n)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If anyone of you is in doubt about what he has written, then he should consider carefully and then prostrate in the sajda of forgetfulness."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If any one of you doubts his prayer, then he should strive to do what is right and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness while sitting."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with us and he either increased or decreased (something) in the prayer. We said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you introduce something new in the prayer?" He said, "What is that?" We said, "You prayed like this and like that, then you faced the Qibla (direction of prayer) and performed two prostrations, then you said the salaam (salutation)."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Asr with us and stood up in the fourth (rak'ah) and did not sit until he prayed with us the fifth (rak'ah). It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, you prayed five (rak'ahs) with us." So he faced the qiblah, said takbeer, and performed two prostrations.
[Machine] Al-Qamah prayed the 'Asr prayer five times, and when he finished, we said to him, "You prayed five times." He said to a man from the Banu Nakh'a, whose name was Ibrahim ibn Suwaid, "Is that right, O one-eyed man?" He said, "Yes," so Al-Qamah performed two prostrations while standing, then he recited the Tashahhud, and then he made the Salam. Then he said, "Abdullah narrated to us, and he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the 'Asr prayer five times, so we said, 'O Messenger of Allah, should we increase anything in the prayer?' He said, 'And what is that?' We said, 'You prayed five times.' He said to a man called Dhu Ash-Shimalayn, 'Is that right, O one with two left hands?' He said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' So he performed two prostrations while sitting, then he recited the Tashahhud, and then he made the Salam. Then he said, 'O people, indeed I am but a human being like you. I forget just as you forget. So if I forget, remind me. And if one of you is in doubt about his prayer, if he does not know whether he has increased or decreased, let him strive to do what is correct and complete his prayer. And let him perform two prostrations. For if there is an addition in your prayer, I will inform you.'"
[Machine] He said, may the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, prayed Dhuhr or Asr. When he finished his prayer, he was told, "O Messenger of Allah, did you add anything in the prayer?" He replied, "What is the matter with you?" They said, "You prayed five (units) instead of four." So, he faced the qibla and performed two prostrations. Then he said, "I am only a human being, and I forget just as you forget. So when one of you becomes doubtful in his prayer, let him perform two prostrations."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed five prayers of Dhuhr. It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you increase in the prayer?" He said, "And what is that?" They said, "You have performed five prayers." So he performed two prostrations.
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he prayed five (units of prayer) and then prostrated twice.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , prayed five units of Dhuhr prayer. They said to him, "O Prophet of Allah, should we increase in the prayer?" So he gave the Salam (ending prayer) and then performed two prostrations of forgetfulness.
[Machine] He prayed five units of prayer with the people. When he finished, they said, "Indeed, you prayed five units of prayer." Alqamah said, "Do you say that, O one-eyed man?" referring to Ibrahim. He said, "Yes." So, Alqamah prostrated for the two forgetfulness prostrations, then he made the Tashahhud and the Salam. Then, he turned to them and informed them about Abdullah ibn Mas'ood narrating from the Prophet ﷺ that he did the same.
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed five units (rak'ahs) with them. When he finished, it was said to him, "That was too much for them." So he turned towards Mecca, made two prostrations while sitting.
[Machine] Alqamah bin Al-Dhur prayed five units of Dhuhr prayer, and when he finished, they said to him, "You prayed five units." He replied, "I didn't do that." Then he said, "Is that so, O one-eyed?" He replied, "Yes, I said that." So he performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness, then he gave the salutation. Then he mentioned from Abdullah, from the Prophet ﷺ , that he prayed five units, and when he saw them whispering amongst themselves, he asked them, "What's wrong with you?" They replied, "Should we increase in prayer?" He asked, "What's that?" They said, "You prayed five units." He said, "No, but I made a mistake." So he performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness.
[Machine] Alqamah led us in prayer five times. It was said to him, so he said, "I did not do so." I said, "Yes." He then performed two prostrations, and then narrated to us from Abdullah, from the Prophet, ﷺ , that he prayed five times. Some of the people started whispering to each other and said, "Should we increase in prayer?" He said, "No." They informed him, so he folded his leg and performed two prostrations, then said, "I am a human being, I forget just as you forget."
[Machine] It is narrated that the Prophet ﷺ performed four or five raka'at (units of prayer) for Dhuhr or Asr prayers, then he made the two prostrations of forgetfulness. After that, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "These two prostrations are for anyone who thinks that they have added or subtracted something from their prayer."
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ prayed five units for the Dhuhr prayer, then he prostrated for two prostrations.
[Machine] It was narrated that the Prophet ﷺ prayed five prayers, and when he finished, he was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, should we increase in prayer?" He said, "No, why would you do that?" They said, "You have prayed five prayers." He said, "I am only a human like you, I remember as you remember and I forget as you forget." Then he performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Dhuhr or Asr with us for five Rakahs, so we said, "O Messenger of Allah, did we add in the prayer?" He replied, "No, what is that?" They said, "You prayed five Rakahs." So he faced the Qiblah and performed two prostrations, then he said, "These two prostrations are for the one who thinks that he has added or missed anything."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with us, then he entered (the mosque) and said, "Some people said to others, 'Should I increase in my prayer?' He (the Prophet) said, 'What is that?' They said, 'You have prayed five times a day.' He took their hand and went out to the mosque. There, he saw a group of people including Abu Bakr and Umar and asked, 'What does the one with two hands say?' They said, 'Yes, O Prophet of Allah.' Then, he faced the Qibla and performed two prostrations."
[Machine] Abdullah, rather you have recited like the poetry and the singing of the Daghfal, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite the verses in one unit of prayer, and he mentioned ten units of prayer with twenty Surahs written by Abdullah. The last of them is "When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] and when the sky is split [open]."
[Machine] Give each surah its due share of bowing and prostration; for indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not recite twenty surahs in ten units of prayer.
[Machine] Read like the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to read two detailed chapters in one unit of prayer.
[Machine] I have known the similar examples that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite two chapters in one unit (rak'ah).
[Machine] Is this like this poem? But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to read the similar surahs, twenty-two surahs.
[Machine] I read the detailed explanation last night in one unit, and someone said, "Scatter it like the scatter of barley grains, and place it like the placing of poetry?" I have learned the similar verses that the Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , used to recite together in one unit, and the wording is from the hadith of Abu 'Ubayd.
[Machine] "Abdullah, I have learned the surahs that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to pray with: Adh-Dhariyat, At-Tur, Al-Qiyamah, An-Najm, Ar-Rahman, Al-Waqi'ah, Nun, Al-Haqqah, Al-Muzzammil, and I do not swear by the Day of Resurrection, and did it come to man what the messengers and they argue about? I swear by the snatching winds, and he frowned and woe to the Defrauders. And when the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up, and when the heaven is wrapped in smoke..."
[Machine] "I read the detailed (passage) tonight in one unit (of prayer), and Abdullah said, 'Like this (poetry)?" I recognized the similar (verses) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in one unit (of prayer), so he mentioned twenty surahs from the beginning of the (passage) that connect between the two surahs."
[Machine] I know the similar (passages) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in one unit (of prayer). Then Abdullah stood up and took the hand of Alqamah and Alqamah came to us. We said to him, "Did he inform you about the similar (passages)?" He said, "He mentioned that the first twenty passages of Al-Mufassal (Surahs from Al-Quran) include a Surah from the family of Ham, Surah Ad-Dukhan (The Smoke), with its similar passages. People were wondering about it."
[Machine] I memorize the signs that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite, which are eighteen verses from Al-Mufassal and two chapters from the family of Haam.
