The Prophet ﷺ said to his companions, "Is it difficult for any of you to recite one third of the Qur'an in one night?" This suggestion was difficult for them so they said, "Who among us has the power to do so, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" Allah Apostle replied: " Allah (the) One, the Self-Sufficient Master Whom all creatures need.' (Surat Al-Ikhlas 112.1--to the End) is equal to one third of the Qur'an."

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لأَصْحَابِهِ أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَقَالُوا أَيُّنَا يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الصَّمَدُ ثُلُثُ الْقُرْآنِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُرْسَلٌ وَعَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ الْمَشْرِقِيِّ مُسْنَدٌ

Is any one of you incapable of reciting a third of the Qur'an in a night? They (the Companions) asked: How could one recite a third of the Qur'an (in a night)? Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: "'Say: He is Allah, One' (Qur'an. cxii) is equivalent to a third of the Qur'an."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ قَالُوا وَكَيْفَ يَقْرَأْ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ ؟ قَالَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ تَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said: I am going to recite before you one-third of the Qur'an. He (the Holy Prophet) then recited:" Say: He is Allah, One--Allah, the Eternal," to the end of the Surah.

خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكُمْ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فَقَرَأَ { قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ * اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ} حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Would one of you like to recite a third of the Qur'an during a night? Whoever recited: Allaahu Al-Wahid As-Samad then he has recited a third of the Qur'an."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ مَنْ قَرَأَ اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الصَّمَدُ فَقَدْ قَرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَقَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَنَسٍ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ وَأَبِي مَسْعُودٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Can any one of you not recite one-third of the Quran in a single night?" They said, "We are unable and weak to do that." So he said, "Verily, Allah has divided the Quran into three parts, and He made Surah Al-Ikhlas (Chapter 112) equal to one third of the Quran."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ؟» قَالُوا نَحْنُ أَعْجَزُ وَأَضْعَفُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَزَّأَ الْقُرْآنَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ فَجَعَلَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ»

[AI] "On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, 'Can any one of you not recite one-third of the Quran in one night?' The companions found this difficult and said, 'Who can bear that?' He said, 'Recite "Say, He is Allah, the One," and it is equivalent to one-third of the Quran.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ قَالَ فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالُوا مَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ يَقْرَأُ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَهِيَ ثُلُثُ الْقُرْآنِ

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "Is anyone among you unable to recite one third of the Quran in one night? Allah is the One, the Self-Sufficient Master."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ اللهُ الْوَاحِدُ الصَّمَدُ

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Does it amaze any of you that one can recite one-third of the Quran in one night?" They asked, "How can anyone bear that or who can bear that?" He replied, "Say, 'He is Allah, [who is] One.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَيَعْجَبُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ قَالُوا كَيْفَ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ أَوْ مَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ : "Can any of you not recite one-third of the Quran in a single night? Verily, whoever recites Surah Al-Ikhlas (chapter 112) and Surah Al-Samad (chapter 112) in one night, he has recited one-third of the Quran that night."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ أَيُعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ قَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ اللهُ الصَّمَدُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ فَقَدْ قَرَأَ لَيْلَتَئِذٍ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "Can any of you not recite one-third of the Quran in one night?" It was said, "Who among us is capable of that?" He said, "Recite 'Say, He is Allah, the One.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟ فَقِيلَ وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ اقْرَأْ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Can any one of you recite one third of the Quran in one night?" They said: "We are weaker than that and more incapable." He said: "Verily, Allah (glory be to Him) has divided the Quran into three parts and made 'Say: He is Allah, the One' a part of the Quran."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟ قَالُوا نَحْنُ أَضْعَفُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَعْجَزُ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ جَزَّأَ الْقُرْآنَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ فَجَعَلَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ جُزْءًا مِنْ أَجْزَاءِ الْقُرْآنِ

[AI] From the Prophetﷺ he said, "Can any one of you not recite one-third of the Quran every night?" They said, "Who among us can do that, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "{Say, 'He is Allah, [who is] One'}"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ؟ » قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «{قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ} »

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Can any of you not recite one-third of the Quran in one night?" We remained silent, so he repeated it three times and then said, "Whoever recites 'Say: He is Allah, the One' (Surah Al-Ikhlas) in one night, has indeed recited one-third of the Quran."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ؟» فَسَكَتْنَا فَقَالَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَسَكَتَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَنْ قَرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَقَدْ قَرَأَ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ»

[AI] "Do you not hear of the good that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ brought? They said, 'How much good did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bring?' He said, 'Whoever recites one-third of the Qur'an in a night?' So we felt timid and remained silent. He repeated it three times and said, 'Whoever recites "Say, He is Allah, [who is] One" (Surah Al-Ikhlas) is as if he recited one-third of the Qur'an.'"

أَلَا تَسْمَعُونَ مَا جَاءَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ؟ قَالُوا وَكَمْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ قَدْ جَاءَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «مَنْ يَقْرَأُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ؟» فَأَشْفَقْنَا مِنْهَا فَسَكَتْنَا فَأَعَادَهَا عَلَيْنَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ قَالَ «مَنْ قَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ أَحَدٌ فَكَأَنَّمَا تَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "Can any one of you not recite one-third of the Quran in a night?" They said, "Who among us is able to do that?" He said, "Yes, say: He is Allah, [who is] One."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Can anyone of you not recite one-third of the Quran in one night?" They said, "Who among us can do that?" He said, "Yes, say: He is Allah, [who is] One."

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Can any of you not recite a third of the Quran in one night?" They said, "Who could do that?" He said, "Yes, say: He is Allah, [who is] One."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Can any of you not recite one-third of the Qur'an in one night?" They said, "Who is capable of that?" He said, "Yes, say 'He is Allah, [who is] One'."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): "Can any of you not recite one-third of the Qur'an in one night?" They said, "Who among us can do that?" He said, "Yes, say: He is Allah, [who is] One."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ , he said, "Can any of you not read a third of the Quran in one night?" They replied, "Who can do that?" He said, "Yes, say, 'He is Allah, the One.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] The Prophet said, "Can any of you not recite one-third of the Quran in one night?" They said, "Who can do that?" He said, "Yes, say: He is Allah, [who is] One."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ , he said, "Is anyone of you unable to recite one-third of the Quran in a night?" They said, "Who amongst us has the ability to do that?" He said, "Yes, say: 'He is Allah, [who is] One.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Is one of you unable to recite one-third of the Quran in one night?" They said, "Who could do that?" He said, "Indeed, say: He is Allah, [who is] One."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever stands up (in prayer) and recites Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad (Surah Al-Ikhlas) and Al-Lahus-Samad (Surah Al-Falaq), then he has recited a third of the Quran."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ قَامَ بِ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ اللهُ الصَّمَدُ فَقَدْ قَرَأَ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Does any of you find it difficult to recite one-third of the Quran?" They were taken aback by this and said, "Allah is the One, the Eternal, one-third of the Quran."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ» فَكَبُرَ ذَلِكَ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ فَقَالَ «اللهُ الْوَاحِدُ الصَّمَدُ ثُلُثُ الْقُرْآنِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Would any of you be able to recite one-third of the Quran every night?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, who among us could bear that?" He said, "Say, 'He is Allah, the One.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيُغْلَبُ أَحَدُكُمْ أنْ يَقْرَأَ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ؟» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّنَا يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ «قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Can one of you not or is one of you unable to recite one-third of the Quran?" So we asked him about it and he said, "Say, 'He is Allah, [who is] One.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَوْ يُغْلَبُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ؟» فَقُلْنَا لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "Is anyone of you incapable of reciting one third of the Qur'an in a single night?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, who among us can recite one third of the Qur'an?" He replied, "Say: He is Allah, [who is] One."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَهَلْ نَسْتَطِيعُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ؟ قَالَ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Is it difficult for any of you to recite one-third of the Quran every night?" We remained silent, so he repeated his question three times, saying, "I continue to ask and you remain silent." Then he said, "Whoever recites 'Say, He is Allah, the One' (Surah Al-Ikhlas) in one night, has indeed recited one-third of the Quran."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ؟» فَسَكَتْنَا فَأَعَادَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ يَقُولُ لَنَا وَنَسْكُتُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ قَرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ {قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ} [الإخلاص 1] فَقَدْ قَرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Can any one of you recite one-third of the Quran in one night?" They said, "We are weaker than that and more helpless." He said, "Indeed, Allah has divided the Quran into three parts, and He made 'Say: He is Allah, [who is] One' [Surah Al-Ikhlas, 1] as one of the parts of the Quran."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا نَحْنُ أَضْعَفُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَعْجَزُ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ جَزَّأَ الْقُرْآنَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ فَجَعَلَ {قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ} [الإخلاص 1] جُزْءًا مِنْ أَجْزَاءِ الْقُرْآنِ

"احْشِدُوا فإنى سأقرأ عليكم ثُلُثَ القرآن فقرأ:

{قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ} وقال: ألا وإنها تعْدلُ بثلث القرآن" .

"أما يستطيعُ أحدُكم أنْ يقرأَ ثُلُثَ القرآنِ في كلِّ ليلةٍ" .

"إِنِّى قَارِئٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ثلُثَ الْقرآنِ، قُلْ هَوَ اللَّهُ أحَدٌ. ثُلثُ الْقُرآن" .

"أيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يقْرَأ ثُلُثَ القرآن في لَيْلَةٍ؟ فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيهم فقال: يقْرَأ: {قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ} فهى تَعدِلُ ثُلُثَ القرآن".
