"إِن الإيمان بدأ غربيًا وسيَعُودُ كما بدأ، فطُوبَى يومئذِ للغُربَاءِ إِذا فَسَد الناسُ، والذي نفسُ أبِي القاسِم بيدِه لَيَأرِزُ الإِيمانُ بين هَذينِ المَسْجِدَينِ كما تأرِزُ الحَية في جُحرِهَا" .

Verily Islam started as something strange and it would again revert (to its old position) of being strange just as it started, and it would recede between the two mosques just as the serpent crawls back into its hole.
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الإِسْلاَمَ بَدَأَ غَرِيبًا وَسَيَعُودُ غَرِيبًا كَمَا بَدَأَ وَهُوَ يَأْرِزُ بَيْنَ الْمَسْجِدَيْنِ كَمَا تَأْرِزُ الْحَيَّةُ فِي جُحْرِهَا
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Verily, faith started as something strange and it will revert to being strange as it began, so glad tidings to the strangers. When corrupt people appear, those who hold firmly to their faith will be like the snake that hides in its hole between these two mosques."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْإِيمَانَ بَدَأَ غَرِيبًا وَسَيَعُودُ كَمَا بَدَأَ فَطُوبَى يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلغُرَبَاءِ إِذَا فَسَدَ النَّاسُ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ بِيَدِهِ لَيَأْرِزَنَّ الْإِيمَانُ بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ الْمَسْجِدَيْنِ كَمَا تَأْرِزُ الْحَيَّةُ فِي جُحْرِهَا

"إِن الإِسلامَ بدأ غريبًا، وسيعودُ غَرِيبًا كمَا بَدأ، وَهُوَ يأرِزُ بَينَ المَسْجِدَينَ كَمَا تَأرِزُ الحيةُ فِي جُحْرِهَا".
"بَدَأ الإِسْلامُ غريبًا وَسَيَعُودُ كَمَا بَدَأ، فَطُوبى لِلغُرَبَاءِ الَّذينَ يُصْلِحُونَ إِذا فَسدَ النَّاسُ، وَالَّذِى نفسِى بِيَدِهِ لَيَنْحَازَنَّ الإِيمانُ إِلَى المَدِينةِ كَمَا يَحُوزُ السَّيِّدُ، وَالَّذِى نَفْسِى بِيَدِه لَيَأرَزَنَّ الإِيمانُ إِلَى مَا بَينَ المَسْجدَين كَمَا تَأرَزْ الحيَّةُ إِلى جُحْرِهَا".
