"some people from Banu Tha'labah came to the Prophet when he was delivering a speech and a man said; "O Messenger of Allah, these are Banu Tha'labah bin Yarbu' who killed so and so' - one of the Companions of the Prophet The Prophet said: "No soul is affected by the sin of another.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ فِي أُنَاسٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَؤُلاَءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ قَتَلُوا فُلاَنًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهَتَفَ بِصَوْتِهِ أَلاَ لاَ تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى الأُخْرَى

"Some people from Banu Tha'labah came to the Prophet ﷺ when he was delivering a speech and a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, these are Banu Tha'labah bin Yarbu' who killed so and so' - one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'No soul is affected by the sin of another."'

انْتَهَى قَوْمٌ مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَؤُلاَءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ قَتَلُوا فُلاَنًا رَجُلاً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى

"I heard Al-Aswad bin Hilal narrate from a man of Banu Tha'labah bin Yarbu' that some people from Banu Tah'labah came to the Prophet and a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, these are Banu Tha'labah bin Yarbu'who killed so and so' - a man from among the companions of the Prophet. The Prophet said: 'No soul is affected by the sin of another

أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ أَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَؤُلاَءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ قَتَلُوا فُلاَنًا رَجُلاً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى

some people from Banu Tha'labah killed a man from among the companions of the Messenger of Allah. A man from among the companions of the Messenger of the Allah said: "O Messenger of Allah, these are Banu Tha'labah who killed so and so." The Messenger said: "No soul is affected by the sin of another." Shu'bah (one of the narrators) said: "That means: No soul is responsible for the sin of anothe4r, and Allah knows best."

عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلاَلٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ أَصَابُوا رَجُلاً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَؤُلاَءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ قَتَلَتْ فُلاَنًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَىْ لاَ يُؤْخَذُ أَحَدٌ بِأَحَدٍ وَاللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَعْلَمُ

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "The upper hand is better than the lower hand. The upper hand is the one that gives to your mother, father, sister, and brother, and then to the closest one and the next closest one." A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, are these the children of Yarbu killed by so-and-so?" He said, "No, do not let one soul take revenge on another soul."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ يَدُ الْمُعْطِي الْعُلْيَا أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ وَأُخْتَكَ وَأَخَاكَ ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ أَدْنَاكَ وَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو يَرْبُوعٍ قَتَلَةُ فُلَانٍ؟ قَالَ أَلَا لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى

[AI] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and heard him speaking to the people, saying, "The one who gives the highest is your mother, then your father, then your sister, and then your brother. Then the closest to you." A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, these are the children of Tha'alabah ibn Yarbu' who harmed so and so." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shouldn't one refrain from harming another?"

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَسَمِعْتُهُ وَهُوَ يُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ يَقُولُ يَدُ الْمُعْطِي الْعُلْيَا أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ وَأُخْتَكَ وَأَخَاكَ ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ فَأَدْنَاكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ الَّذِينَ أَصَابُوا فُلَانًا قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى

[AI] I came to the Prophet, ﷺ , while he was giving a sermon, and he said, "The hand of the giver is raised high over your mother and father and sister and brother, and the closest to you is the closest to you." Then a group from the tribe of Tha'alabah ibn Yarbu' entered, and a man from the Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, these are the Tha'alabah who killed so and so." So the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Do not let one soul be avenged upon another twice."

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ وَيَقُولُ يَدُ الْمُعْطِي الْعُلْيَا أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ وَأُخْتَكَ وَأَخَاكَ وَأَدْنَاكَ فَأَدْنَاكَ قَالَ فَدَخَلَ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَؤُلَاءِ النَّفَرُ الْيَرْبُوعِيُّونَ الَّذِينَ قَتَلُوا فُلَانًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى مَرَّتَيْنِ

[AI] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and I heard him speaking to the people saying, "The hand of the giver is higher (better) than your mother, your father, your sister, and your brother. Then (in order) after them, and then after them." Then a man said, "O Messenger of Allah, are these the descendants of Tha'laba bin Yarbua' who harmed so-and-so?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No harm should be done to one person because of another."

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَسَمِعْتُهُ وَهُوَ يُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ يَقُولُ يَدُ الْمُعْطِي الْعُلْيَا أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ وَأُخْتَكَ وَأَخَاكَ ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ فَأَدْنَاكَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعَ الَّذِينَ أَصَابُوا فُلَانًا قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى

[AI] A man from the Bani Tha'laba ibn Yarbu'a came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon, and he said, "The hand of the giver is the upper one, your mother, your father, your sister, and your brother, and then the nearest one to you, the nearest one to you." So a man from the Ansar stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, those are the Bani Tha'laba ibn Yarbu'a who harmed so-and-so in the pre-Islamic era." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called out, "No soul should bear the burden of another."

جَاءَ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «يَدُ الْمُعْطِي هِي الْعُلْيَا أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ وَأُخْتَكَ وَأَخَاكَ ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ أَدْنَاكَ» فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعَ أَصَابُوا فُلَانًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَهَتَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى»

[AI] I approached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon saying, "The hand of the giver is superior. Your mother and father, then your sister and brother, then your close relatives, and then your close relatives." Then, some people from the Banu Yarbua came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the people of Banu Yarbua have killed so-and-so." He said, "One life should not be avenged by another."

انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ يَقُولُ يَدُ الْمُعْطِي هِيَ الْعُلْيَا أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ ثُمَّ أُخْتَكَ وَأَخَاكَ ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ أَدْنَاكَ فَجَاءَ نَاسٌ مِنْ بَنِي يَرْبُوعٍ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذِهِ بَنُو يَرْبُوعٍ قَتَلَتْ فُلَانًا فَقَالَ إِنَّهَا لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى

"I came to the Prophet when he was speaking, and a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, these are Banu Tha'labah bin Yarbu' who killed so and so.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'No,' meaning no soul is affected by the sin of another. " (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4837)

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَتَكَلَّمُ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعَ الَّذِينَ أَصَابُوا فُلَانًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا يَعْنِي تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى»

[AI] Some people from the Banu Tha'laba bin Yarbua came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and they had caused harm to a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . A man said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, the Banu Tha'laba bin Yarbua killed so-and-so." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "One soul should not be harmed because of another." Shu'ba narrated this from a man from the Banu Tha'laba, and Ath-Thawri narrated it from Tha'laba bin Zahdam.

أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْهُمْ أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَانَتْ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنُ يَرْبُوعٍ أَصَابُوا رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ قَتَلَتْ فُلَانًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى هَكَذَا قَالَ شُعْبَةُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ وَقَالَ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ زَهْدَمٍ

[AI] We arrived to the Prophet ﷺ a group of people from the tribe of Tamim and we approached him while he was saying, "The hand of the giver is superior, begin with those that you are responsible for, your mother, your father, your sister and your brother, then the closest ones after them." Then a man from the Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, these are the sons of Tha'laba ibn Yarbua who harmed so-and-so in the pre-Islamic period." So, the Prophet ﷺ raised his voice and said, "Does one soul bear the burden of another soul?"

قَدِمْنَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ نَفَرٌ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ فَانْتَهَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ يَدُ الْمُعْطِي الْعُلْيَا ابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ وَأُخْتَكَ وَأَخَاكَ ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ أَدْنَاكَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ الَّذِينَ أَصَابُوا فُلَانًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَهَتَفَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَلَا إِنَّهَا لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى

"عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ زَهْدَم الْحَنْظَلِيِّ قَالَ: جَاءَ نَاسٌ مِنْ بَنِى ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ: يَا رَسُولَ الله هَؤُلاَء بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ أَصَابُوا فُلاَنًا فِى الْجَاهِليَّةِ، فَهتَفَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ أَلاَ لا تَجْنِ نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى، وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: يَدُ الْمُعْطِي هِىَ الْعُليَا، أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ، وَأُخْتَكَ وَأَخَاكَ ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ أَدْنَاكَ".
