I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Don't prevent your women from going to the mosque when they seek your permission. Bilal b. 'Abdullah said: By Allah, we shall certainly prevent them. On this'Abdullah b. Umar turned towards him and reprimanded him to harshly as I had never heard him do before. He ('Abdullah b. Umar) said: I am narrating to you that which comes from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and you (have the audicity) to say: By Allah, we shall certainly prevent them.  

مسلم:٤٤٢b – حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لاَ تَمْنَعُوا نِسَاءَكُمُ الْمَسَاجِدَ إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْهَا قَالَ فَقَالَ بِلاَلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ قَالَ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَسَبَّهُ سَبًّا سَيِّئًا مَا سَمِعْتُهُ سَبَّهُ مِثْلَهُ قَطُّ وَقَالَ أُخْبِرُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَتَقُولُ وَاللَّهِ لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Do not prevent women from entering the mosques if they seek permission from you to do so." Bilal bin Abdullah replied, "By Allah, we will certainly prevent them." Abdullah approached him at that moment and cursed him.  

أحمد:٦٢٥٢ – حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا تَمْنَعُوا يَعْنِي النِّسَاءَ الْمَسَاجِدَ إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْهَا قَالَبِلَالُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَاللهِ لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللهِ حِينَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ فَسَبَّهُ

When women ask permission for going to the mosque, do not prevent them. (Using translation from Muslim 442a)  

ابن حبّان:٢٢١٣ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ يَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْ أَحَدَكُمُ امْرَأَتُهُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَلَا يَمْنَعْهَا» قَالَ بِلَالُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ وَاللَّهِ لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ قَالَ فَسَبَّهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَسْوَأَ مَا سَمِعْتُهُ سَبَّهُ قَطُّ وَقَالَ سَمِعْتَنِي قُلْتُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْ أَحَدَكُمُ امْرَأَتُهُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَلَا يَمْنَعْهَا» قُلْتَ وَاللَّهِ لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ؟!

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not deprive women of their share of the mosques, when they seek permission from you. Bilal said: By Allah, we would certainly prevent them. 'Abdullah said: I say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said it and you say: We would certainly prevent them! (Using translation from Muslim 442h)  

الطبراني:١٣٢٥٢ – حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ بِلَالِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَمْنَعُوا النِّسَاءَ حُظُوظَهُنَّ مِنَ الْمَسَاجِدِ إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَّكُمْ» فَقَالَ بِلَالٌ وَاللهِ لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يَا عَدُوَّ اللهِ أَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَتَقُولُ لَنَمْنَعُهُنُّ
