ذِكْرُ خَبَرٍ أَوْهَمَ مَنْ طَلَبَ الْعِلْمَ مِنْ غَيْرِ مَظَانِّهِ أَنَّ الْمَيِّتَ إِذَا مَاتَ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ الْأَعْمَالُ الصَّالِحَةُ بَعْدَهُ

ibnhibban:3015 – Ibn Qutaybah > Ibn Abū al-Sarī > ʿAbd al-Razzāq > Maʿmar > Hammām b. Munabbih > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you should wish for death or pray for it before it comes to him. When he dies, his deeds come to an end and a believer's life only increases him in goodness."

ابن حبّان:٣٠١٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَلَا يَدْعُو بِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُ إِنَّهُ إِذَا مَاتَ انْقَطَعَ عَمَلُهُ وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَزِيدُ الْمُؤْمِنَ عُمُرُهُ إِلَّا خَيْرًا»

Abu Huraira narrated to us ahadith from Messenger of Allah ﷺ and out of these one is that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: None amongst you should make a request for death, and do not call for it before it comes, for when any one of you dies, he ceases (to do good) deeds and the life of a believer is not prolonged but for goodness.

ahmad:8189 –

"لا يَتَمَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ الْمَوْتَ، وَلا يدعُ بِهِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأتيَهُ، إِنَّه إِذَا مَاتَ أحَدُكُمْ انْقَطَعَ عَمَلُهُ، وَإنَّهْ لا يَزِيدُ الْمُؤمِنَ عُمُرُهُ إِلا خَيرًا".
