[Machine] I witnessed the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Eid. When he finished the prayer, he said, "We will give a sermon, so whoever wishes to stay for the sermon may sit, and whoever wishes to leave may leave." This is a "authentic hadith according to the conditions of the two sheikhs (Al-Bukhari and Muslim), and they have not excluded it." This is the meaning of the hadith that is asked about during the holidays, except that it is narrated by Ibn Abbas according to the conditions of the two sheikhs.

I attended the 'Id prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When he finished the prayer, he said: We shall deliver the sermon; he who likes to sit for listening to it may sit and he who likes to go away may go away. Abu Dawud said: this is a mursal tradition (i.e. the successor 'Ata directly reporting from the Prophet ﷺ and omitting the link of the Companions).
