3. Book of Purification (2/12)
[Machine] A group of people came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "We are fishing in the sea, and we have fresh water with us. We are afraid of getting thirsty. Is it permissible for us to perform ablution with the salty water of the sea?" He ﷺ replied, "Yes, perform ablution with it." Al-Bukhari, Yazid ibn Muhammad al-Qurashi, has narrated this in the history, and it has also been narrated by Layth ibn Abi Burdah from him, and among them is Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was asked about performing ablution with seawater. He replied, "Its water is pure and its dead creatures are permissible."
3.5 [Machine] And among them is Abu Salamah ibn Abdul Rahman.
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was asked about performing ablution (wudu) using seawater. He said, "Its water is pure, and its dead creatures are lawful."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the water of the sea, and he said, "Its water is pure, and its dead creatures are lawful." "As for the narration of Ibn Abbas, we have mentioned it."
3.6 [Machine] As for the narration of Jabir
"Its water is pure (and Purification) and its 'dead meat' is permissible (to eat)." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4350)
3.7 [Machine] As for the statement of Abdullah bin Amr...
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Dead sea creatures are permissible to eat and its water is pure."
[Machine] He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we are in a land of the people of the Book (Christians and Jews), they drink alcohol and eat pork. So what do you think about their utensils and pots?" He said, "Leave them as long as you do not find any impurities on them. But if you do not find any impurities, then wash them with water or pour water over them." Then he said, "Cook in them and eat." Hammad said, I think he said, "And drink." This is how Shu'bah narrated it from Ayyub.
[Machine] He asked the Prophet ﷺ , "Indeed, we live among the people of the Book, so how should we deal with their utensils?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Leave what you find impure among them. If you cannot find any impurity, then wash them with water and then you may cook in them." This is how Khalid Al-Hadha' narrated it from Abu Qilabah.
[Machine] I asked the Prophet ﷺ about the vessels of the polytheists, so he said, "Wash them and then cook in them."
3.8 [Machine] As for the narration of Hammad ibn Salama
[Machine] He said, "O Messenger of Allah, we live in the land of the People of the Book, so we cook in their pots and drink from their utensils." He replied, "If you cannot find any alternative, then wash them thoroughly."
3.9 [Machine] And as for the story of Hushaym...
[Machine] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I said, "We raid and travel in the land of the disbelievers, and we need some utensils from their possessions in order to cook in them." He said, "Wash them with water and then cook in them and benefit from them."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade (the use of) the skins of beasts of prey. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4132)
[Machine] Sa'id praised him in a way that was mentioned by a sheikh from the people of Basra, from Muhammad ibn al-Minhal, who narrated that Shu'ba, who is mistaken in this, said, "And this chain of narration is authentic. Abu al-Malih's name is 'Amir ibn Usama, and his father is Usama ibn 'Umayr, who is a companion from the Banu Lihyan tribe. His hadith is mentioned in the books of chains of narrators, but they did not mention it."
[Machine] The translation of the given phrase is: "The Prophet ﷺ was brought two-thirds of a container of water, so he performed ablution and began to wipe his forearms."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said during his illness in which he passed away, "Pour upon me from seven Qirab, which have not been mixed or touched, in order that I may make a bequest to the people." Aisha said, so we sat him in a basin made of copper for Hafsa and poured water on him, and he gestured to us that we had indeed done so, then he left.
3.10 [Machine] As for the talk of Hisham
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said in his illness before he passed away, "Pour onto me water from seven wells."
3.11 [Machine] And as for the narration of Abu Sufyan al-Ma'mari
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during his illness in which he died, "Pour seven buckets of water over me." "Both chains of narrations are authentic according to the conditions of the two Sheikhs."
ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr came holding a Siwak with which he was cleaning his teeth. Allah's Apostle looked at him. I requested ʿAbdur-Rahman to give the Siwak to me and after he gave it to me I divided it, chewed it and gave it to Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then he cleaned his teeth with it and (at that time) he was resting against my chest. (Using translation from Bukhārī 890)
"The Messenger of Allah used to pray in the night (Qiyamul-Lail) two Rak'ah by two, then when he finished he would use the tooth stick." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 288)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "The merit of the prayer which is performed in congregation is seventy times greater than the prayer which is performed individually."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were not difficult for my nation, I would have made it obligatory for them to use the siwak (tooth stick) with every ablution, and I would have delayed the Isha prayer until half of the night." This is narrated by Abu Hurairah in this chapter, and they did not mention the word "obligatory" in it, and it is authentic according to both of them, and it has no defect. And it has a witness with this wording, as they did not mention the word "made obligatory," and it is according to their requirement and it has no defect.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If it were not difficult for my Ummah (followers), I would have made it obligatory for them to use the Siwak (tooth stick) before every prayer, just as I made it obligatory for them to perform ablution before prayer."
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'There is no prayer for one who does not have ablution, and there is no ablution for one who does not mention the name of Allah upon it.' Muhammad bin Isma'il bin Abi Fudayk narrated it from Muhammad bin Musa al-Makhzumi.'"
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The prayer of a person who does not perform ablution is not valid, and the ablution of a person who does not mention the name of Allah (in the beginning) is not valid. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 101)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no prayer for someone who does not have ablution, and there is no ablution for someone who does not mention the name of Allah upon it." Ali ibn Bundar Az-Zahid informed me, narrating from Umar ibn Muhammad ibn Jubayr, narrating from Abu Bakr Al-Athram, who said, "I heard Ahmad ibn Hanbal being asked about someone who performs ablution but does not mention (the name of Allah). Ahmad replied, 'The best that can be said about this hadith is what Kathir ibn Zayd has narrated.'"
Do you like that I should show you how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ablution? He then called for a vessel of water and took out a handful of water with his right hand. He then rinsed his mouth and snuffed up water. He then took out another handful of water and washed his face by both his hands together. He then took out another handful of water and washed his right hand and then washed his left hand by taking out another. He then took out some water and shook off his hand and wiped his head and ears with it. He then took out a handful of water and sprinkled it over his right foot in his shoe and wiped the upper part of the foot with his one hand, and beneath the shoe with his other hand. He then did the same with his left foot. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 137)
[Machine] He came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned things, so the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Make your ablution thoroughly, alternate between your fingers, and when you rinse your nose, do it thoroughly unless you are fasting."
3.12 [Machine] As for the statement of Ibn Juraij
[Machine] "He ﷺ came to Aisha and his companion seeking the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , but they did not find him. So Aisha fed them dates and porridge. They had not stayed for long before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came wearing a garment and wrapping his head. He said, 'Has anyone fed you?' I said, 'Yes, Messenger of Allah.' Then I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, tell us about prayer.' He said, 'Perform complete ablution, separate your fingers, and when you sniff water in your nostrils, do so abundantly unless you are fasting.'"
3.13 [Machine] As for the statement of Dawood ibn Abdul Rahman Al-Attar
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you make istinja, perform it thoroughly, unless you are fasting, and do not hit your private parts with your right hand as you hit your slaves."
3.14 [Machine] And as for the saying of Yahya ibn Sulaiman
[Machine] I was a new arrival among the Banu Al-Muntafiq when I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, inform me about ablution." He said, "Complete the ablution, run your fingers through your toes, and exaggerate in inhaling water during the sniffing [water into the nostril], except for when you are fasting." This narration is witnessed by Ibn Abbas.
[Machine] The translation of the given text is: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Perform the ritual cleansing (Istinthar) two or three times thoroughly." This is a witness to the news of a foundling.
[Machine] I saw Uthman perform ablution. He washed his face, rinsed his mouth and nose three times, wiped his head and both ears, both outside and inside, and he combed his beard three times while washing his face before washing his feet. Then he said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do what you have witnessed me doing." The two scholars, Al-Bukhari and Muslim, both agreed to exclude the mentioning of combing the beard three times in their narrations about Uthman's ablution. This hadith is authentic and it has been supported by all of its narrators except 'Amir ibn Shaqiq. I do not know of any criticism against 'Amir ibn Shaqiq from any other source. Additionally, there is a valid witness regarding combing the beard from 'Ammar ibn Yasir, Anas ibn Malik, and Aisha bin Mu'awiyah, son of Mu'awiyah. Then he said, "And he has a valid witness."

3.15 [Machine] Regarding the conversation of Ammar
[Machine] "And what prevents me while I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ trimming his beard?" Sufyan said: And Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah narrated to us from Qatadah from Hassan ibn Bilal from 'Ammar from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ similar to it.
3.16 [Machine] And as for the narrative of Anas ibn Malik
[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ performing ablution and passing his fingers through his beard from underneath it. He said, "My Lord commanded me to do this."
[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ performing ablution and trimming his beard, and he said, "My Lord commanded me to do this."
3.17 [Machine] And as for the narration of Aisha...
[Machine] The translation of the given text is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to clean his beard when he performed ablution, and this is a valid evidence for wiping the inner parts of the ears."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed ablution and wiped the inside and outside of his ears. Ibn Mas'ud used to order for the same. Zaidah bin Qudamah is considered trustworthy and reliable, as he narrated this from Thawri and others have also confirmed it.
The Prophet ﷺ performed ablution by washing the body parts twice. (Using translation from Bukhārī 158)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to perform wudu (ablution) step by step and combined between gargling and rinsing the nose.
[Machine] "Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Dawud bin Qais al-Farra' from Zaid bin Aslam from 'Ata' bin Yasar from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ performed ablution in two separate rooms."
[Machine] "I entered the market with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he went to fulfill his needs. Then he returned, and I gave him water so he performed ablution. He then tried to take out his arms from his pocket but couldn't, so he took them out from under his cloak. Then he performed ablution and wiped over his socks."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered the markets and went to fulfill his need accompanied by Bilal. Then they came out, and I asked Bilal, "What did he do?" He said, "He performed ablution and washed his face and hands, wiped his head, and wiped over his socks."
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) performing ablution and he took water for his ears separately from the water with which he wiped his head."
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ wiped his ears without the same water he used to wipe his head, and this is a clear statement with the same meaning as the first, and it is authentic, like it."
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ wiped the inner and outer parts of his ears, and he did not require Ibn 'Aqil, who was straightforward in narration, as a witness for this noble act.
[Machine] "We entered upon Ali, me and two other men, one of whom was from our tribe and the other from the tribe of Banu Asad. Ali said to them, 'So they sent them for a need, and he said, "Indeed, you two are sick, so treat yourselves according to your religion."' Then he entered the restroom and came out. He called for water and washed his hands, then he began to recite the Quran. It seemed as if we disapproved, so he said, 'It seems that you two disapproved. The Messenger of Allah used to fulfill his needs, recite the Qur'an, and eat meat without anything preventing him from recitation except impurity (janabah).'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If one of you comes to his family and then wants to return, let him perform ablution, for he will be more lively in his return."
[Machine] I asked Aisha, "How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ behave when he was in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity)? Would he take a bath before sleeping, or did he sleep before taking a bath?" She said, "He would sometimes take a bath and then sleep, and sometimes he would perform ablution (wudu) and then sleep." I said, "All praise is due to Allah, who made this matter flexible." This hadith was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih from Qutaybah, and Ghudayf ibn al-Harith narrated from Aisha as well.
[Machine] About the Prophet's ﷺ ritual washing from sexual impurity, she said: "He might have washed before sleeping, and he might have slept before washing." It was followed by Kahmas ibn al-Hasan reporting from Burd.
[Machine] I asked Aisha, "Did the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, wash himself from the beginning or from the end when he experienced seminal emission?" She replied, "Sometimes he would wash from the beginning and sometimes from the end." I said, "Allah is the greatest. All praise is due to Allah who has made things easy for us." And I sent blessings upon our master Muhammad, his family, and all his companions.
