3. Book of Purification (3/12)
We did not know what we should say when we sat during prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was taught (by Allah). He then narrated the tradition to the same effect. Sharik reported from Jami', from AbuWa'il on the authority of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud something similar. He said: He used to teach us also some other words, but he did not teach them as he taught us the tashahhud: O Allah, join our hearts, mend our social relationship, guide us to the path of peace, bring us from darkness to light, save us from obscenities, outward or inward, and bless our ears, our eyes, our hearts, our wives, our children, and relent toward us; Thou art the Relenting, the Merciful. And make us grateful for Thy blessing and make us praise it while accepting it and give it to us in full. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 969)
[Machine] The translation of the sentence is as follows: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us, so he mentioned it just like it on the condition of a Muslim.
The Messenger of Allah( may peace be upon him) used to teach us the tashahhud as he would teach us the Qur’an, and would say: The blessed adoration of the tongue, acts of worship (and) all good things are due to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and Allah’s mercy and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon Allah’s upright servants. I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s apostle (peace be upon him). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 974)
[Machine] Abdullah ibn Salama Al-Qa'nabi reported that Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad narrated from Hisham ibn Uruwah, from his father, that Umar ibn al-Khattab used to teach the people how to recite the Tashahhud in prayer while delivering a sermon on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He would say, "When one of you recites Tashahhud in prayer, let them say: 'In the name of Allah, the most beneficial, the most merciful. All pure prayers, good greetings and pure acts of worship to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear witness that there is no God but Allah alone, without any partners, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.' Umar said, 'Begin with yourselves after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and send peace upon the righteous slaves of Allah.'"

[Machine] Omar said, "I hold your hand as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ held mine. Therefore, the testimony, greetings, prayers, and pure acts of worship to Allah are recited in it." And he mentioned the hadith in a similar manner, "As for the addition in the beginning of the testimony with the name of Allah and with Allah, it is authentic according to the condition of Bukhari."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us tashahhud as he would teach us a Sura of the Qur'an. (Using translation from Muslim 403b)
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us the Tashah-hud as he used to teach us a Surah from the Qur’an: ‘Bismillahi wa Billahi; at-tahiyyatu lillahi was-salawatu wat-tayyibatu lillahi; as-salamu ‘alayka ayyuhan- Nabiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu; as-salamu ‘alayna wa ‘ala ‘ibadillahis-salihin. All compliments are due to Allah and all prayers and good words are due to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings; peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. I ask Allah for Paradise and I seek refuge with Allah from the Fire).’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 902)
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ, it was narrated from him, "I heard Abu Ali Al-Hafiz certifying Ibn Qahtaba, except that he made a mistake in it, as it is with Al-Mu'tamir from Aiman bin Nabil, as we mentioned before. May Allah bless Muhammad and his family, all of them." Aiman used it as evidence and Al-Bukhari narrated it from him through a group.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the mosque and saw a man who had finished his prayer, and was reciting the tashahhud saying: O Allah, I ask you, O Allah, the One, the eternally besought of all, He begetteth not, nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable unto Him, that you may forgive me my sins, you are Most Forgiving, Merciful. He (the Prophet) said: He was forgiven (repeating three times.) (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 985)
It pertains to the sunnah to utter the tashahhud quietly. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 986)
[Machine] "He narrated to me regarding sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ , 'When a Muslim person prays upon him in their prayer.'"
[Machine] A man approached and sat in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were with him. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, we know how to greet you with peace, but how do we send blessings upon you when we have already sent blessings upon you in our prayers and Allah has already sent blessings upon you?" He remained silent until we wished that the man had not asked him. Then he said, "When you say the prayer upon me, say: 'O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, the Prophet who is unlettered, and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. And bless Muhammad, the Prophet who is unlettered, and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are full of praise and majesty.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man praying without praising or glorifying Allah, nor sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ , and then he left. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bring him quickly." He called him and said to him and others, "When one of you prays, let him start with praising his Lord and glorifying Him, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ , and then he may supplicate with whatever he wishes."
[Machine] "Abdullah says, 'A man should first recite the testimony of faith, then send blessings upon the Prophet (pbuh), and then make supplications for himself.' 'This hadith has been transmitted from Abdullah ibn Mas'ood with an authentic chain of narrators."
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "When any one of you performs the Tashahhud (bearing witness) in prayer, let him say: O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, and bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and have mercy upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You have sent prayers, blessed, and had mercy upon Ibrahim. Verily, You are Worthy of Praise and Glorious. And the majority of the narrations for this principle are for the obligations of prayer."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "There is no prayer for the one who does not have ablution, and there is no ablution for the one who does not mention Allah upon it, and there is no prayer for the one who does not send blessings upon the Prophet of Allah in his prayer." This hadith was not narrated by them according to their condition, as they did not narrate it through 'Abdul-Muhyi.
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ that in the first two units of prayer, he would be as if he was on a rug. We asked him until when he would stand and he replied, "Until he stands." Mas'ar narrated it from Sa'd ibn Ibrahim.
[Machine] He was not with the Prophet ﷺ on the Night of Jinns, and Uthman bin Sa'id Al-Mari has narrated it from Mus'ab, from Sa'd, about it according to their agreement.

The Prophet ﷺ commanded us to respond to the salutation of the imam. and to love each other, and to salute each other. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1001)
An imam of ours, whose kunyah (surname) was AbuRimthah, led us in prayer and said: I prayed this prayer, or one like it, with the Prophet ﷺ. AbuBakr and Umar were standing in the front row on his right and there was a man who had been present at the first takbir in the prayer. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ offered the prayer, then gave the salutation to his right and his left so that we saw the whiteness of his cheeks, then turned away as AbuRimthah (meaning himself) had done. The man who has been present with him at the first takbir in the prayer then got up to pray another prayer, whereupon Umar leaped up and, seizing him by the shoulders, shook him and said: Sit down, for the People of the Book perished for no other reason than that there was no interval between their prayers. The Prophet ﷺ raised his eyes and said: Allah has made you say what is right, son of al-Khattab. Abu Dawud said: Sometimes the name of Abu Umayyah is narrated instead of Abu Rimthah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1007)

As for the step that is more beloved to Allah the Mighty and Majestic, it is a man rectifying a flaw in the row. As for the step that is more disliked by Allah, it is when a man raises his right foot to place it and firmly establishes his left foot, then stands up."
[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet, peace be upon him, used to say "Subhanal-Malikil-Qudoos" three times in a raised voice after saying the Salam. It has been narrated by Abdur-Rahman ibn Abza, who is one of those considered reliable by us, that he never met the Prophet, peace be upon him, except that his most frequent report was from Ubay ibn Ka'b and the Companions. This chain of narrators is authentic according to the conditions of Al-Bukhari and Muslim, and they did not exclude it, and the Hadith is authentic.
By Allah, I love you, Mu'adh. I give some instruction to you. Never leave to recite this supplication after every (prescribed) prayer: "O Allah, help me in remembering You, in giving You thanks, and worshipping You well." Mu'adh willed this supplication to the narrator al-Sunabihi and al-Sunabihi to 'Abu Abd al-Rahman. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1522)
[Machine] The translation of the given Arabic text into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say after every prayer, 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and from the punishment of the Hellfire, and from the trials of life and death, and from the trial of the false messiah (the Antichrist).' "
Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying; when you come to pray while we are prostrating ourselves, you must prostrate yourselves, and do not reckon it anything (rak’ah) he has been present at the prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 893)
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Whoever prays a unit of prayer at the time of dawn, and then the sun rises, let him pray the morning prayer."

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever prays a single unit of prayer (rak'ah) from the dawn prayer (Fajr) until the rising of the sun, let him complete his prayer.' This hadith has two authentic chains of narration and has been corroborated by Khalas ibn 'Amr as a witness."
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has not prayed the two Rak'ahs of Fajr prayer until the sun rises, then let him pray them."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on his journey. They (the people) slept abandoning the Fajr prayer. They awoke by the heat of the sun. Then they travelled a little until the sun rose high. He (the Prophet) commanded the mu'adhdhin (one who called for prayer) to call for prayer. He then offered two rak'ahs of prayer (sunnah prayer) before the (obligatory) fajr prayer. Then he (the mu'adhdhin) announced for saying the prayer in congregation (i.e. he uttered iqamah). Then he led them in the morning prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 443)
[Machine] "He came while the Prophet ﷺ was praying the Fajr prayer, so he prayed with him. When the Prophet ﷺ finished, he stood up and prayed the two Rak'ahs of Fajr. The Prophet ﷺ asked him, 'What are these two Rak'ahs?' He replied, 'I did not pray them before the Fajr prayer.' Then he remained silent and did not say anything. Qais bin Fahd Al-Ansari, a companion, narrated this incident, and the chain of narration is authentic according to their conditions. And it has also been narrated by Muhammad bin Ibrahim at-Taymi from Qais bin Fahd, who is a companion and has a witness."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a person praying after the congregational prayer at dawn was over. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There are two rak'ahs of the dawn prayer (i.e. the prescribed rak'ahs). The man replied: I did not pray the two rak'ahs before the dawn prayer. Hence I offered them now. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept silent. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1267)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever combines two prayers without an excuse has opened a door from the gates of major sins." Hanash bin Qays Al-Rahbi, also known as Abu Ali from the people of Yemen, resided in Kufa and was trustworthy. And Al-Bukhari referred to Ikrimah as evidence, and this hadith is a basis for prohibition against combining prayers without an excuse, and they did not exclude it. This was mentioned in the context of validating the narration of Hakeem regarding Hanash, but they weakened it.
