The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us tashahhud as he would teach us a Sura of the Qur'an. (Using translation from Muslim 403b)  

الحاكم:٩٨٢حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ثنا أَيْمَنُ بْنُ نَابِلٍ ثنا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يُعَلِّمُنَا التَّشَهُّدَ كَمَا يُعَلِّمُنَا السُّورَةَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ وَبِاللَّهِ التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ» قَالَ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَفِي آخِرِهِ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ»
